Help - Where to stay in Chicago

Recommended Posts

Can any geeks give some ideas on which areas of Chicago are best to stay for a group of 6 guys in town to watch the Cubs on Saturday, and the Sox on Friday night?

Someone told us the River North area was good for nightlife.

What are some fun bar areas to visit to tie on a load and stumble back to the hotel?

TIA. :pointstosky:

There is an embassy suites on I believe Jackson street right outside the red line, I've stayed there the last couple of times I've been to Cubs games.

Swissotel on Wacker is pretty good. Was there a couple of years ago. Walking distance to a bunch of restaurants and bars.

I've heard nothing but good things about the place called Cabrini Green.

Forgot to say, after the sox game on Friday, get the hell out of Bridgeport. I know it's only 8 miles or so from wrigley, but that is a rough area.

Good stuff. Keep 'em coming. As long as we find a hotel near the public transportation, we should be good. No shot staying on the South Side. Is the nightlife around Wrigley comparable to the nightlife around Fenway? Is it worth it to stay near Wrigley?

I stayed somewhat near rush st and the Navy pier as i remember... I was across from a Weber Restaurant (which was very good BBQ btw)... Forget the brand hotel i was in, but there were a few mid range chains in the area.

There are a few hotels near wrigley (within a mile or so) but that'd also why I prefer the embassy. Close to thr rail, a block or so away from Michigan ave and state street. There are bars every ten feet in wrigleyville.

Years ago we stayed at the Lenox house suites close to rush/division. It was economical and pretty decent place at the time. Especially if it's just the doods.
