Houston flood day

Recommended Posts

It's like a snow day for other folks

It isn't as bad as it was over memorial last year, but I love seeing all the cars flooded out on the highway. Dumbasses think they can drive through six feet of water

I didnt even know it was flooding until I was a block from work, at Westheimer and West Sam Houston. Thankfully I take a free exit and go down the frontage road, because West Sam Houston was at a standstill. I had to U-turn and head home.

It took 2 hours to get home. I made it back to Sugar Land fairly quick, but every road i went down in sugarland had 2+ feet of water. I would drive 2-3 blocks down a road, then U-Turn and try a different route.

That's only the first one. I always like watching folks see other cars flooded out, then here comes some douche in a dually, "I can make it!" Brrrrrrrrrr, sputter sputter sputter... Dumbasses

I work from home and I'm not traveling today so nothing changed for me.

Our dog was going berserk last night with the storms, couple that with every iPad and iPhone buzzing with the weather alert. I let him out of his crate around 3 and let him in the bed. He immediately put his paws and head on my neck, which made sleeping kind of hard, but then I remembered my wife had the other end, so I was okay with it.

But he was probably trying to choke me out, but he doesn't have thumbs... Stupid dog

Guy from our office flew in today for a job interview.

Nothing like a good first impression.

Not for nothing, but you should probably let your wife out of the crate occasionally too

This is one of the joys of living in the south. Waiting for a natural disaster type event and watching the rednecks do stupid sh!t.

Last time we had a good flood in Nashville, I watched a redneck sitting on a car hood water ski down the street being towed by his buddy in a lifted truck with a huge rebel flag. I'm sure that ended well.

It's floodin down in Texas?

It tends to flood quite a bit there if they get a good bit of rain. The cities were built for 100+ degree weather. Not rain lol

It was much worse on the North West side than Ike, Allison or the rain we had on Memorial Day. Houses that didn't flood during those other events have water in them. But overall I agree with you, typical weather entertainers making things out to be worse than they are.

I always seem to feel more bad for the animals than people during floods... Were showing a few horse and cattle rescues last nigh on the news - was so sad.

You know those elitists in the heights, if it didn't happen in the Heights it doesn't matter. :D

Wait, Houston extends outside of 610? Is there a different time zone? Will I need my passport?

Great you coming Bert?

I can't do it today. My Mom had knee repalcement surgery yesterday so I am taking care of my Dad. The power has been out at their house since 9:00am yesterday. He is at my house and is hating life right now so until the power is on at his house I have to baby sit.

Now tomorrow after work I will be in need of a beer or two or ten.
