TV Show EVERYONE says is so great but you can't get into

Recommended Posts

Patweisers mentioned Breaking Bad...

For me it's the wire. We tired to watch the first season and were like zzzzzzzz...

So is there one out there that got crazy hype that you just can't get into?

By the way Patweisers, BB is super good.

2 and a half men

Big Bang theory

The overuse of the laugh track de-rails every time for me.

those aren't tv shows you need to get into. you can watch episode 1 and episode 60 and not miss anything.

and yes, laugh track = automatic channel change. How on earth did I watch tv in the 80s and 90s?

I love love love HBO, so many great shows. I couldn't get into 6 feet under and I tried watching the wire and quit after a 25 minutes.

FOCK big bang theory. I am sometimes forced to watch this cause there is nothing on in my hotel room and I am sick of pron. That show sucks so bad..It makes me sad for us as a society that this piece of crap is that popular. Same with 2.5 men. Which I can happily say I have never seen but am quite sure would suck as bad as Big Bang.

6 feet under was OK. Liked it but never quite liked it as much as my wife. However the series finale of that show was by far the best series finale of any show i have ever seen. Really good stuff.

I liked Dexter, but again not as much as my wife. The season with Jon Lithgow as the trinity killer was the best. Lithgow carried that season

Thank the tiny, little 8 pound baby Jesus for the DVR and Netflix. Some decent shows on network TV. First season of the blacklist for example. .We power watched it on Netflix and liked it. Spader's character is good.

Nucky Thompson would have you killed for less.

Boardwalk Empire has the single greatest character of any show ever.

I will give you that Boardwalk probably outlived it's worth, but the 1st couple/3 seasons were great

I'm with Mung. BB Theory is so horribly unfunny. It makes me sad for this country that so many people -

including some people I generally consider pretty book smart - find this show funny. Hell, even the

snippets in the previews - meant to lure us in - so ostensibly, the best part of the show - is absolutely NOT

funny at all.

But I understand the OP's intention. So therefore;

GOT. I mean, Good Lord, just too many characters and storylines- it's like a damn graduate level 'video literature' course.

I like intelligent TV and Books, but I don't want to work that Focking hard - especially on Fiction.

No matter how you try to gin it up, GOT is just video D&D. - And I was never into that either.

Just from a personal perspective, I'd much rather read a non-fiction biography or a book on

actual historical events rather than dig through 43 volumes of 'graphic novels' to discover

the intricacies of JizzenDorf's origin story.

It's not that I'm a fiction snob - I enjoy fiction as well, just not one that involves 847 characters,73 villages spread among 77 fiefdoms ruled by The Sacred Nine as predicated by the writings of OgleThorpe prior to the Great Gherkin War of oughgt ought ought

woozard.

It Frankly Depresses me that otherwise intelligent people know the names, powers, riders and backstories of the THIRTEEN DRAGONS OF THE BAY OF TAMPA - but have no idea who the PM of Canada is or the role of Curveball in Greatest Foreign Policy Failure of the modern era.

Most of them. Seriously, I could too full Posty on this one. If it has cops, hospitals, lawyers, or criminals, I'm not interested.

I miss the sitcoms/tv shows from the 70's/80's so I'm usually watching Me Tv if it's on, or the news.

I like it up until the last two seasons or so. The final episode was odiously bad.

Honestly, there was something that stirred my loins knowing that Dexter was focking his surreptitiously hot 'sister' in real life.

Walking Dead without a doubt. Worst writing evah. If the GF didn't like it I'd never watch it again. Also, as noted, barely watch anything on network TV. And what I do watch is DVR'ed.

I love Jeffersons and All In The Family the most, esp when they are all in an epi on one of the shows. Never gets old for me. :D

my dad watched way to much laurence welk. rooned it for me.

My parents weren't that bad, but Tony Orlando and Dawn, Sonny and Cher were close for me. The only variety show I like and still watch is The Carol Burnett show. Her skits esp with Tim Conway are hilarious!

Walking dead is it for me. I like zombie/post apocalyptic shows so I tried. I really, really tried but just couldnt take it. My wife made me stick it out longer than I normally would have but even she gave up near the start of season 2.

Under The Dome was one I had trouble with. There wasn't a lot of places the s/l could go and much of it was predictable.
