Golden State Killer suspect arrested in decades-old case

Recommended Posts

Authorities are expected to announce the arrest Wednesday of a suspect in the decades-old East Area Rapist case, The Bee has learned.

The suspect has been living in the Sacramento area and was identified after a renewed push of the investigation by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, a source said.

The East Area Rapist, also known as the Golden State Killer, the Original Night Stalker and the Diamond Knot Killer, is believed to have killed at least 12 people, raped at least 45 victims and burglarized hundreds of homes.

Better late than never, I guess.

Police believed the offender had a pattern of using extensive reconnaissance on several homes in a targeted neighborhood before selecting one for attack. As part of his extensive surveillance, the stalker was known to peep in the windows of future victims and prowl in the yards of homes for several nights prior to attacking. On a few occasions, it is believed he entered the homes of future victims (prior to attacking them several nights later) to conduct reconnaissance, unlock windows, unload guns, and to plant binding ligatures for future use. He would also frequently call future victims leading up to the attack, sometimes for months in advance, to better understand their daily schedules and routines. On those calls he would sometimes hang up, sometimes pretend to have the wrong number, and sometimes (in calls placed after the attack) threaten to harm the victims again.[4][16] In one of these calls, which was recorded by the victim in January 1978, the stalker repeats: "Gonna kill you."[16]

:shocking:

Was this the one that Patton oswalt's wife was working on?

I've never heard of this guy. Odd since he was pretty active in the East Bay where I grew up. I was pretty young at the time though. It's all over the local news today.

Audio of the phone call referenced at the end of the OP:

I saw a documentary on this case. The rapist / killed supposedly called some victims to taunt them years after assaulting them. Focked up.

This could never happen with modern forensics / surveillance.

Yeah this guy was a legit psychopath. He broke into people's homes and unloaded their guns days before coming back. Imagine what a mind fock it would be to grab what you believe to be a loaded weapon only to hear it go "click" when you need it to go "BANG".

Stacking dishes on the guy and telling him he'll kill everybody if he hears the dishes rattle, while he's raping the woman?

They DO make this sh!t up for movies.

Wow - I can't believe they finally got him... I've seen prolly every documentary on this case - the brutality of this p.o.s was off the charts... I always remembered one victim, Charlene Smith, bcoz she was so hot.... This dude deserves to be beaten to death with a baseball bat.

That is surprising. Patton Oswalt has been in a lot of TV shows and a few movies and has his own stand-up routines and everything.

I listened to an interview with Patton Oswald and he mentioned that a town near Sacramento held a town hall to discuss the rapist/killer. Apparently some dude stood up and made the comment that we as men need to step up and protect our families.. that guy and his wife were the next victims the next day. Dude had to be at the townhall

My brother was a Night stocker. Then Albertsons went to 24 hours and then customers would that there are pallets and boxes in the aisle. Well when the hell else do you think they're going to restock the aisles lady?

If you guys are really into this kind of Twisted stalker murderer stuff, certainly Dennis Rader is in the top 10. You might know him as the BTK Killer. He was a sick twisted sob. Thing is, dude took 20 years off. He was free and clear. But then got sucked back into it and that's how I ended up getting caught.

Errr, "he".

Well, most comedians are.

Sucks that he killed his wife before she had a chance to find out who this guy was.

See, I've heard of BTK too. TGSK seems to be more calculated, devious and conniving than all of them.

Just FYI, one of the things about BTK and said he was a former security system guy. So he knew for example where the phone lines were where the power lines were, etc.

Lots more, but you get the idea.

What's incredibly disturbing is to listen to this guy allocute in court. No , you can see that he was getting off on it. He was reliving the crimes and enjoying telling the court what he did in Vivid gory detail.

He has a micropenis http://www.oxygen.com/crime-time/golden-state-killer-joseph-james-deangelo-everything-we-know

Combined with narcissism, etc., I'm guessing that was a factor in his psyche.

I didn't know until today that a lot of the rapes were in my neck of the woods. "East area" to Sac people makes us think of what we call East Sac (within the city proper) but that's not where most were. One of the rapes was a few streets away from me.

He asked his BIL what he thought of the East area rapist, and what he would do to him.

Dennis Rader's eyes, even if you try to remove power of suggestion, just look straight up evil. If you approach this stuff from a materialist philosophical mindset, it's interesting that we can get those vibes from eyes, a sense of evil, not just a sense of deviation from health. With him in particular, I've always wondered how many people ran into him before he was busted and thought "man, this guy looks evil."

Dorthea Puente is a good example of this, for a lady.
