TimmySmith 2,782 Posted August 14, 2018 Yes I know humans are animals. There is group in Oregon that is suing the owners of a horse for neglect, on behalf of the horse. In other words, the horse is the Plaintiff. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/national/wp/2018/08/13/feature/a-horse-was-neglected-by-its-owner-now-the-horse-is-suing/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.3cf8b9c85c3e A similar group petitioned that a Chimp should be able to own property. Of course all of these suits are started by humans, but the animals will be the direct beneficiaries (the horse will get the money, as directed by a "trustee" (wink-wink)). The cynic in me thinks this is a money grab by humans, tugging on the heart strings of PETA and animal lovers everywhere, trying to sue owners of any animal they think is neglected (not treated like a human). A slippery slope for anyone who owns an animal in the future, to be sure.

NorthernVike 2,080 Posted August 14, 2018 The only thing this will accomplish is saddling the owner with debt.
