***Official Seattle Seahawks Thread 2012***

Recommended Posts

When I have some to kill this season, I'll come back to this thread and re-read. I will enjoy my predictions and general anger and see how it all worked out. 20 pages isn't bad, considered how dead this was for a few months. Hate me, or not, but the thread starts to jump again when I come back to fight with everybody, including other Seattle fans.

That throw to TO was the prettiest pass I've ever seen a Seahawk throw.

I'm quit partial to the Waren Moon days myself.

Russell Wilson is named the starter for the third preseason game, and by some whacky coincidence, Matt Flynn has been unable to practice the last two days due to dead arm.

What the fock is going on? Speculate, speculate, speculate.

Never thought I'd see the day when a preseason game held so much significance. A fork in the road for a franchise. Choosing a QB to guide a potential contending team for the foreseeable future. And it's just a stupid preseason game at the core.

Except for the fact that they do not have a franchise QB on their team.

Too soon to tell. They might have two. They might have zero. But it's impossible to predict at this point. There are two wildcards, two unknowns right now.

It's still the most interesting off/preseason I can remember for the Seahawks. Chasing Peyton across the country, literally. Terrell Owens. The QB competition. The controversy of the first round draft pick. The swift rebuilding job.

If they had a dynamic wr core i think they could get away with their qbs for a bit. But unfortunately they dont so i dont see how a qb will have true success beyond just being a game manager.

The focus of the team will be the defense and running game, so I will agree that early on they won't ask the QB to be more than a game manager, especially when they have some tough games in the first 1/4 of the season (Dallas, Green Bay, New England). They won't be chucking the ball all over the field. But as the season progresses, they are more likely to open things up more. Last year, with Tarvaris Jackson, they just couldn't do that.

The WRs are hurt more so than lack talent; if Rice and Baldwin and Lockette were healthy, they would have a pretty solid group. They also have two excellent TEs in Miller and Winslow and both will catch a lot of balls this year.

If Sidney Rice can stay healthy, him TO and Doug Baldwin aren't a bad trio, with the possibility of Golden Tate not being a bust (I think he is) and a quartet of tight ends.

But yeah, Rice being healthy is most likely a dream.

Like Philly said, this team is going to win with defense and running the ball. Any gains in the passing game are gravy.

I don't think Flynn is going to suit up tonight. Oh, boy.

Finkle is Einhorn, Wilson is Flynn.

First drive, good field position, high percentage of completions, low yards per completion, FG ensues. Wilson is Flynn, Flynn is Wilson.

Wilson is owning it this half... To me he's won this job! I think he'll be our starting QB.

I was a HUGE FLynn supporter,I wanted Flynn, I'm still happy he's here. But Wilson in my view is for real and took this job over. He's cool, calm, does everything needed. You want a game manager he does it.

Everything looks natural to him ALREADY. He can move out of that pocket, something Flynn did not do very well.

He's been the best rookie QB in preseason in my view. Even over Luck in my view. He's only going to get better with more playing time.

I have to say - Lets go with the rook!

I'm sorry to say Flynn.

Our Def is sweet too. Gotta love them.

Im unable to watch the game right now, was just checking stats. Has he looked as impressive as his numbers?

Better then his numbers.... Owens dropped 2 or 3 balls.

He's scored on EVERY drive. The running game has been so so in my view, and he's converting 3rd downs.

He simply moves chains over and over.

I am a pessimistic man. The word optimism is not an easy word to say. I do not like the taste of that word on my tongue. Um, I don't know where to begin at all. The Seahawks decapitated, dismembered, destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs in every phase of the game. That's the way I saw it.

Russell Wilson had led the Seahawks on 4 scoring drives before Kansas City had 15 yards of total offense. For crying out loud, the defense and special teams both scored last night. I never imagined a scenario where Russell Wilson would beat out Matt Flynn for the starting job this year, yet here we are. It's not even that Wilson is more accurate than Flynn, because he isn't. It's the 2 rushes for 58 yards last night. The ability to turn a game on it's ear with a huge run. He completed some passes downfield and moved the chains in the first half. Robert Turbin progress ramped up as he rushed 14 times for 93 yards. The team ran for 6.8 yards per rush. Tom Cable has a group of linemen that can flat out run block. Of course, they ran for more total yards than passed, because that is what this team is built to do. They actually got a few sacks. 7th round picks are starting. I'm saddened that some of these guys will have to be cut due to roster size, not ability. Lunacy. This over hyped game eventually got boring because it was so easy. The Seattle Seahawks have been increasing their dominance in every game as the preseason has moved along and if anyone thinks this isn't a blossoming playoff team, they're completely insane. And for fock's sake, TO, stop dropping so many passes.

This isn't going to be easy, but here we go.

I was wrong to sh!t all over the Russell Wilson pick in the draft this year. He looks like a legitimate future star in the NFL. Not only am I dumfounded, but I am dumb. In fact, I am an idiot. Thank you.

I won't bump all of your rants calling me an idiot for sticking up for Wilson then...

But can we get Flynn back to back up Rodgers, though?

See you on Sept. 24!

Exciting time to be a Seawhawks fan! :first:

I wouldn't say this was the worst call ever made. Even I didn't think he'd be this good right now, and I liked the pick.

He's a great kid.

Smart as hell (Picked up 3 systems now (in 3 seasons), and produced at all).

Is a great athlete, as shown on the field, plus his baseball background.

Football wise. Gruden loved him. Now whether you like Gruden or not is irrelevant. The dude knows his QB's.

Fantasy wise. Matt Waldman absolutely loved him.

We just all thought lets see what we got in him next year. Never thought we'd see this from day 1.

I think Petey Carrol screwed up. He should have been giving Flynn the ball more. Flynn is better than Russell. I think if Russell starts the Seahawks lose, lose, and lose some more. Exciting!

Flynn sat out the last few days of practice and wasn't available last night due to a sore elbow. Possibly from too much throwing. Wilson was going to start last night no matter what. And the argument can be made that Carroll used Flynn too much. Flynn played the entire first halves of the first two preseason games, which is more than most starting QBs do in preseason. The team is built on defense and running the ball, so whoever is the QB is not going to be the decisive factor in wins or losses. Week One is against Arizona, and I like the Seahawks' chances.

Arizona is going to get pounded. Other then their mediocre qb's they have a pretty good team but the Hawks are more ready for the regular season then I have ever seen them in August. There are a lot of good teams on the schedule and I feel this season marks the beginning of a legitimate rivalry with the 49ers. 2012 is going to be a lot of fun!!

Any word on Scruggs hammy? Christ we have some depth on the d-line!!!

Anthony McCoy has really stepped up too. We should definitely be keeping 4 TE's.

Despite the hands of stone I really hope we dont give up on TO (I never thought I'd be saying that). He has a ton of rust to shake off, but I can see him giving us one very productive mercenary season. He's in excellent shape and is getting a lot of separation. It'll come.

Great to see Rice and Okung still healthy!

My disappearance was orchestrated by the bored monitors. I've since been laying low. Oh and that beer tastes good especially after watching Russell-mania!

Lame effort considering since the draft you have been puking out thousands of overly wordy posts letting everyone know how much better you are at evaluating talent than the rest of us, including people actually employed by the Seahawks.

Wilson is a great pick. He will be competing to start from day one. I am excited about this underrated QB. I think its funny people rating picks against thier own draft boards. Like they matter. Irvin is a risk but I am not broken up about it. His college tape is amazing. Schneider needs both carpenter and irvin to pan out or he's gone. Wagner im not sure about. Depends on how carrol uses him.

I'm as good as it gets and you are incredibly fortunate to have access to reading my awesome analysis and unmatched genius. I watch far more game film than anyone on the Seahawks payroll. You are very welcome. But, I will give consideration whether you are worthy to continue to benefit from my wisdom. I have banned people from reading my posts before.

You seem to be patting yourself on the back, but said Scheider will be gone unless Carpenter and Irvin pan out. Carpenter is a solid bust; even if he comes back from the injuries, he is already slated to compete at left guard, not the position he was drafted to fill. And is likely to be the backup to Paul McQuistan. Irvin has shown nothing in preseaon. He is the next Mike Mamula. A guy drafted too early who seems to get to the QB 2 seconds after the ball is released. He will never be able to defend against the run and is getting pushed around in the preseason, making him a 3rd and long specialist at best, thus far. Yet, even if both are legitimate busts, there is no chance that Schneider will be gone in that scenario. None. He's done well in many other responsibilities as GM.

Good call on Wilson though.

I disagree a little on Irvin. He has been making slight improvements each preseason game. He's raw and basically a project, but I have a good feeling on him. He'll probably never be an every down player, but I'll be happy with a good pass rush specialist.

I agree on Carp. Hindsight and all but Jon Baldwin or Torrey Smith would really help out our sad WR group.

Honestly, I don't mind when people disagree with my opinions and prognostications. It's early in the Irvin's career. All I can do is call them as I see them, and let the chips fall where they may. I hope I'm wrong. I suspect that for roughly the 10th year in a row, next year I will be begging once again for the front office to draft DE help. We are a very good DE away from being in the conversation for the best defense in the league. They've done a really good job in compiling run defenders and all purpose defensive tackles. You need more than Clemons on the outside. And I love Red Bryant for what he does in his hybrid role. I don't think Irvin is the answer because he is not a balanced player. He is speed. Just speed. Except for Rusell Okung and Earl Thomas, how far do we have to go to find acceptable first round picks for this franchise? Trufant and Hutchinson and Shaun Alexander? Really? That was so many, many years ago. I'm not happy. And I've hated so many of the ensuing picks.

Yeah, our first round history has been pretty damn bad. Throw in Koren Robinson with the guys you already mentioned. Ruskell wiffed from Spencer to Curry.
