How long before the Pledge of Allegiance is gone from schools?

Recommended Posts

Well if its so damn important, why arent you parroting it regularly?

I can recite it on demand. I also have been programmed to believe in liberty and justice for all.

Only libtards would have a problem that pledges a commitment to liberty and justice for all. Yeah, those are some racist and fascist concepts.

No one said anything about any of those -isms. I don’t think it’s necessary because it is mindless.

You are talking to a guy who said defeating the nazis was a good idea, “in theory”.

When there is no argument to be had...some create a narrative...

I know. Men usually grow out of their question everything and be a contrarian at all times way at some point. Then they stop being libtarded.

What did you change the words to?

i would replace words like 'flag' with 'faag', etc.

you know, dumb stuff that makes kids chuckle.

Funny you mention the nazis, as Hitler oaths were a part of the indoctrination process.

Thinking people don't accept anything on faith, no matter their political convictions. There is nothing manly about mindless conformity.

I was a kid when I learned it. It's said at the beginning of some fraternal organizations I belong to meetings.

It's not about the kids thinking. It's about indoctrination into the cult. The cult that pledges liberty and justice for all. We must start them early.

See this bothers me. I see this same thing in china every day.

If you cant love your country for some rational thought out reason, thats a problem.

Its kind of an odd thing.

We "force" (not physically, but kids who wouldn't stand for it would be shunned) kids to pledge an allegiance to the flag. Many who have zero clue what they are even saying or understand the words.

When we are older and understand...we don't really do the pledge.

Seems that a country where we are very prideful of our freedom, pledging allegiances doesn't really line up to being free.

Shut up you focking commie. YOU are what is wrong with America. Why don't you move to the liberal paridise know as the EU. They got everything your sh1tty beliefs have.

You won't cause you know it's a sh1t hole and it's people like me who keep you comfortable you focking worthless POS.

It can be replaced with The Two Minute Hate. Every day for two minutes, the teacher takes a moment to explain to the children why America sucks, how it exploits women and oppresses minorities, and why the white kids in the class are so bad.

I agree with you on a vast number of things but this open hostility to America is an utter cancer in society and I find it so frustrating that you and so many like you can't/don't see it.

Yea that is indoctrination to Nazism. Indoctrination in the good old USofA is to believe in and support the idea that each of us are united, free and have the right to justice and to pursue happiness. You just want to leave it up to kids to figure out our belief system? See what kind of country you end up with if you don't teach them anything.

I'm not hostile to America, and find it equally frustrating that otherwise intelligent people get caught up valuing mindless tradition over free thinking.

I stand in silence during the anthem. I said the pledge in school. But I don't object if people choose otherwise - it harms no one and arguably represents our country's values better than a cloth, song or script composed by a Christian socialist.

Teach those concepts in history, social studies and civics class. And reinforce them at home, along with critical thought.

Yes good, except one point I'll make is that grade school children (like up to grade 2 or so) haven't even developed critical thought. You should know about the development of the brain/mind.

I didn't say teach it in preschool. What do you fear will happen in its absence? Were kids in the 1800's a bunch of commies?

I dont hate America. I wouldnt want my children to.

But I would want my children to be able to articulate the reasons WHY they love America. And yes, its flaws and mistakes too.

You live here in china. Youve seen their wacko commie indoctrination just like I have. The absolute mindless certainty in which they believe their country is the best on earth.

Its a method of control. Obey. Love. Never question. I would hope America is better than that.

It is one thing china and America have in common.

Everyone 100% believes as a matter of religious dogma that they live in the greatest country in the world. If asked why, they have no real answer usually. Most of them have never even been anywhere else. It just is. Like the sky is blue. Like water is wet.

It is because they are indoctrinated to believe so, rather than TAUGHT valid reasons for believing so.

This has the added downside of making fixing what problems exist difficult, as people are trained to think everything is wonderful.

These guys are overthinking things. Swearing allegiance to liberty and justice for all is not exactly a heavy pill to swallow. They are acting like they make us swear our first born and promise to jump into the line of fire for our country or die.

And then they went and slipped that under god part in back in the 50s.

Indoctrination is a useful thing.

America was built on the concept of the government having to earn our allegiance. Not be promised it blindly.

As an atheist I agree there. Even as a kid I thought people said god as like a metaphor or concept for the way of life. Found out later that actual grown ups and supposedly smart people still think religious stuff is real lol.

Obedience to authority is also useful. Stanley Milgram's experiments really drove home how willing people are to blindly do as they're told.
