Beertap 0 Posted August 15, 2006 League: 14 Teams, IDP, PPR, standard scoring otherwise. QB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex (WR/RB) Defense Doesn't start dropping until 4th round, so not important now. I have the 10th pick and 19th pick coming back up. I traded my 3rd and 4th round for the 15th overall and a 5th round. I am really trying to figure out the way to go. I am leaning towards the RB, WR, WR with the hopes of a TOP 10 RB and two top 5 WR. (RB's will go early) This seams the obvious way to go to me, unless someone else can prove otherwise. Here's how I see it playing out. My RB (Jackson, Brown, Westbrook, Jordan, Rudi) WR Two of the following ( Holt, Smith, CJ, Harrison, Fitz, Boldin) Scared of moss and TO. There's a chance I can get manning at 10, but don't like taking QB before the 5th round. I don't pick again until 2 picks in the 5th, so I really don't want to F- this up. Tell my why I should not go RB, WR, WR. Thanks
PTAKBuCS 0 Posted August 15, 2006 If you go RB, WR, WR you will have a pretty bad RB selection in the 5th round. In a 14-team league you are looking at backup RBs at that point. And that guy is going to have to start for you. I'm also not so sure 2 of those top WRs you mention will be available at picks 15 and 19. Probably 1 for sure but maybe not 2 of them. Then you don't pick again until Round 5. Do you really want Antowain Smith as your 2nd RB? I couldn't sleep at night telling you to take two WRs like that, especially without a pick until the 5th round. I would watch the draft and see what happens when your pick comes up at 19. If there have been 10-15 RBs taken then you almost HAVE to take one at Pick 19. We all know it's easier to pick up, and draft later, productive WRs (see 2005 Joe Jurevicius.) Good Luck! pook187 0 Posted August 15, 2006 If I understand your league, you must only start one RB, so your theory of RB WR WR isn't a bad one, IMO. I ended up going RB WR RB, mainly because the backs there for me in the 2nd round weren't giving me value.
Thieton 0 Posted August 16, 2006 With that many teams you really have to grab two RB's with your first 2 picks. Its the only way you'll get 2 starting RB's. Keep your fingers crossed that Peyton, S Smith, TO, R Moss and the such leave you something decent at RB. If you take, say, Brown at 10, there's no reason D Davis, McGahee, Westbrook, or some others shouldn't still be there at
Grizzly 0 Posted August 16, 2006 In a league that starts one RB I might do the same. You better hope that RB can make it most of the year though. Your back up will be questionable. I would wait to see how the draft unfolds. If alot of teams have the same strategy there might be good value at RB. In round 3. Thanks for answering mine.
