That's why I stick to the horizontal kind.

Plenty of good luck and prayers your way. Have you had chicken pox? Research the tie between the two diseases. Some interesting stuff there.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, it is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver. ~Jack Handey (VIA IronToeNedney)

I had my doc request a CT scan, now I think I should change it to an MRI... can i do that Pen?

you can request it. Bring it up. MRI isn't harmful like CT scans. See what he says. If something is found you'll most likely will be doing other tests to confirm or to get more detail. Best wishes. Xxx

I'd say your Doc should be doing the requesting of what he requests. Not you.

he absolutely should discuss things with his doc. That's critical when dealing with serious matters, asking questions. Then once you have a diagnosis add to it doing your own research. We think docs even specialists keep up with research and clinical trials but some don't. You have to be just as responsible, your own patient advocate. I've learned more on my own researching than I did from a doc who doesn't have such time, doesn't think of something, or didn't know. His doc should explain by him bringing up MRI which is better to do first, and him bringing up concern about radiation with CT scans creates dialogue. If the doc doesn't have time to care about your thoughts then time to find a caring doc, especially if you're dealing with something serious.

I am getting a brain scan done this week. Reason being, I am having constant headaches, probably for over a month. I had some bad spells of lightheadedness, but those haven't affected me for about 2 weeks now. My left calf went numb and I still get tingling In the areas even after the numbness went away. There is a constant ringing in My ears, 24/7. My libido fell off the face of the Earth. Like one moment I am getting a rock hard hard on from some sexy talk, the next day it doesn't elicit a response. It's also much harder to get it up. Seriously out of nowhere. One person suggested it could be MS... a lot of the symptoms match up. Anyone experience anything like this?

It's really frustrating because I am in the best shape of my life. I am chiseled right now at 157 pounds. I do the most cardio I have done since high school. The increase in weight lifting and cardio should be having a positive affect on my man parts, but the opposite has happened.

straight up. I hope it's not Ms. I don't want to sound like a dark cloud but my dad had Ms for 20 years. I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Thoughts and prayers
Its still not a hummingbird.

Maybe stress. Balancing a girl friend who lives in MD, living with the wife still, a new born son, working 84 hours a week, and trying to stay in shape, it definitely is a lot. But I also have had stress before without these symptoms

Wait, what?!  Did I miss a thread?  Possible as I've been AWOL a bit.  Last I knew you had a wife and newborn and were stuck on the PA/MD border.  Did you pick up a girlfriend there?  What's the story?  :dunno:

MRI is one of the tests needed for the diagnosis of MS, but this doesn't sound like MS to me.

I'd say your Doc should be doing the requesting of what he requests. Not you.

This. Let your doctor decide which tests are indicated.

Lupus.

Seriously, that was a standing joke on the TV show House. On the DVD and there's actually a gag reel where they edit together all the times they say it could be lupus. It's like 40 times or something, by the time they're done you just laughing your ass off.

Turns out, in Hollywood, lupus is cover for either having a mental breakdown or a drug addiction or something that they don't want to reveal.

Good luck. I've had the tinnitus myself for way too long. It's freaking annoying. As to your man junk? Well hell it may just be age.

Or Lupus.

There are certain diseases that can lead to just about any symptom. Lupus is one of them.

I'm fearing MS. The symptoms are very similar.

A lot of your symptoms are vague - especially dizziness and headache. MS is classically more discrete neurologic deficits, principally strength and sensation (esp. visual) problems, which wax and wane over time. As it is a disease of the myelin insulating nerves which ultimately control all of our bodily functions, it can cause a lot of different problems, but erectile dysfunction isn't a common association. And it is far more common in women.

Your doctor is probably more concerned with TIA (which also is unlikely based on your description) and wants to exclude a brain mass (doubt it, as the symptoms for mass lesions tend to progress rather than come and go).

Could be a post-concussive syndrome or side effects of a weight lifting supplement. Attributing it to "stress" is a wastebasket diagnosis that shouldn't be done until serious organic etiologies are excluded.

This isn't true - both can be harmful, but the risks are low. People have adverse reactions to gadolinium used in some MRIs which can be life threatening. CT scans involve radiation exposure, but a single head scan isn't that much - comparable to about 8 months of background radiation in the environment.

You should ask you doctor questions, but don't demand tests that aren't indicated. Let your doctor do his/her job.
