Started binge watching with my sons last night.

Pretty good stuff. Hadn't seen it in years and it holds up well.

Also, Linda Cardellini was 24 IRL when she played that 16 yr old character, so perv out as much as you want.

Any other good family appropriate shows for 8-10 yr old kids?

We currently watch The Goldberg's, Alaska the Last Frontier and This Is Us.

Dr. Who.
Rebooted in 2005. And the bonus? His assistant no matter which one they cast is always a knockout.

Perfect for that age range too. Just a little scary, but no real overt violence or language.

A 12 yr old should not have his TV watching policed. Oh no, a boob! A dirty word! Does he still drink from a baby bottle too?

Daddy, the bad man on TV said a no no word, Im traumatized!

Its ok son, you ready to take your drivers test next week on your 16th birthday?

No daddy Im scared!

When a kid stops believing in Santa Clause and stops having nightmares from the monsters under his bed, its ok, you can take the training wheels off.

I didn't let them watch Stanger Things due to the scary factor. They don't seem to like stuff like that too well. My wife and I liked it though.

I considered whether the drugs and drinking in Freaks wouldn't be appropriate but we talk about whether the characters are making good or bad decisions.

Sorry but when I was 12 I was plenty mature enough to know TV wasnt real. Thats 6th grade! I actually like Vudus method of talking about the situations with the kids and showing them right from wrong.

At least its not as bad as someone else here, I think it was MDC, who wouldnt let his 14yr old see a certain movie or something. If Im wrong I apologize, hard to keep track of the clowns here. Lol that kid tells his friends his daddy wont let him see a scary movie, pretty much social suicide. May as well wear a diaper to class the next day.

Fock that. I was 10 when I saw Jaws and the naked woman on the beach. Also saw a movie called "The Van" in which there were numerous titty shots and bad words.  I mean crap, I turned out OK.

If they held another election on November 9th, Trump would have lost the popular by 10 million and the electoral in a landslide. So many people didn't bother voting because the media was telling them Clinton was a lock by 10 points. And Trump's approval rating dropped from 47% to 37% just in the weeks between the election and inauguration.  Unless he can get someone to reign him in, I doubt he'll survive the four years, let alone any chance at being reelected.

Shirley, you can't be serious.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, it is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver. ~Jack Handey (VIA IronToeNedney)

I know I'm way behind the times on this. And now, with the portability of platforms, Maybe it is unavoidable, however:

I remember years ago now reading what a huge percentage of kids had their own television in their own rooms. Growing up, that never even crossed my mind. Maybe maybe maybe if someone got really really sick they would sleep in the family room with the television but that's as close as it got.

I don't know if anybody noticed, because it's been fairly subtle, but a few years ago, the big broadcast networks went to the government and said they couldn't keep up with even basic cable much less Game of Thrones and things like that. So, ten years after nipplegate, a lot of the rules went by the wayside.

Now you can say certain words, but apparently there is limits to the number of times per broadcast for each word. Still, as a grown man, I still routinely get shocked at what comes across even on broadcast much less basic cable.

My parents didn't sit and watch TV with me. I usually watched in the kitchen while they were downstairs. But still, there were certain shows that I wasn't allowed to watch. Didn't mean I didn't try to. But I think it's important that parents at least have an ear out for what it is their kids are consuming.

But bear in mind, I was in junior high when all the parents were in an uproar because Bart Simpson use the word sucks.

We had one console tv and it was in the family room. 3 network channels, PBS and a UHF channel that eventually became Fox

We watched whatever my dad wanted to watch when he was home.

Dude you are probably being way too sheltering.

I mean its up to each parent but at the same time you have to be cognizant of the world we live in.

They will see far worse things than this and very soon (if not already).

Theres nothing you can do about it. Friends will show it to them on their phones at school or theyll see it at someone elses house or, hell, on the display TVs at the store.

So why keep them so naive?
