Fun With The Law

Recommended Posts

I hate lawyers.

Spoke with a lawyer that served my 80 year old mom a subpoena at her home. She has severe dementia and it's documented. Hasn't worked in twenty years.

When told that, he laughed.

Me: Are you for real?

Him: See you in deposition. And mom.

I served subpoenas for six years. All civil. Had my PI license. Did things I'm very proud of and some, not so much. But I got the job done. Worked for the biggest law firms in the city.

He knew my name. And he drew the parish hat. Tried to serve me. Didn't answer the door. Served my dementia ridden mother. She accepted it. She'll never remember it.

Point of the story is, who cares. Best way to avoid court is to not get served.

In my last role as a Corp officer (don't ever do that btw), I got served about every six weeks or so.

The first time you see SOP, its freaky, but soon becomes deriguer.

Except when we were sop by a totally Russian mobbed-up organization. That sucker was as big as a phone book. And, coincidentally, that lawyer that just got busted from Trump's camp? That was our firm for all matters Russian too.

That's one of the things that seems awry about Bunnys latest yarn.

There's a difference between an attorney and a process server.

I have never seen nor even heard of sop at the hands of the actual litigating counsel.

In his neck of the woods, I would have believed that the Parish Sheriff or one of his deputies provided SOP long before I would believe that opposing counsel would do so.

But, it's bunny. And it was after dark when he posted. So...
