I know S.Griffen is a good player, but if SEA has to cut him... gulp

Recommended Posts

His brother, the community, handicapped people... they are going to go crazy. SEA will regret this move, especially with his brother on his team. Just sayin, hope it works out

I don't see a downside here. At worst they're the team that gave him a shot to make in the NFL. I also think he was drafted around his floor as a productive special teamer and occasional LB. He was a beast in college and he's learned to live and still thrive with his disability.

Seattle will not regret this 5th round pick. He was not drafted with the intention of being cut and the Seahawks aren't exactly stacked at LB.

Shaq ran the fastest 40 time for a LB in combine history ever at 4.38.

I don't see any reason why he won't make the roster and I expect him to thrive.

I find it strange that you felt it necessary to make this post. Dude was a stud on an undefeated team, albeit not in a major conference. He performed well at the combine. Hes a 5th round pick. Im pretty sure Seattle knows what theyre getting and it wasnt a huge investment.

He's not coming in to be a 3 down line backer. He's gonna essentially be the LEO back. Think Bruce Irvin. He'll be in there when they go 4 wide at linebacker, and want the speed to rush (LEO). Also most likely, anytime they see a guaranteed third down pass play.

He'll probably also be used as a gunner on special teams. And with his character/motor, I wouldn't doubt he even becomes the ST captain from day 1.

I think you're really underestimating what the kid can do, as far as how he'll be used.

I think he will be a good SPT player.

Not sure how much backlash they would get if they had to cut him. Media and fans make such a big deal about everything so he and his situation will be in the spotlight. First time Seattle plays in prime time they will come out with a few new pieces and talk the whole time about him. So I see what you are saying but I think he will be good on SPTs and will at least stick around until people begin to not care about the story.

Michael Sam not making rosters didn't create too much of anything as far as I remember. So I don't think this would be a big deal.

I don't think the two situations are similar. Sam brought so much media attention it was a distraction. If the media would have just left him and his teammates alone, I think he would have made a roster. I don't see Griffen bringing that type attention. A few pieces on his life and then he becomes a secondary headline, and his teammates won't be constantly asked their opinions about him.
