I have several Echo Dot's and i love them. Been slowly embracing home automation in addition to their basic functionality.

just said f' it and ran out and got 4 for $100. playing around with it... pretty fun so far. main reason to get it was for sound in multiple rooms... then can add on as life moves on.

I bought echo dots for my sons plus a Bluetooth shower speaker last year to go with a larger echo we have downstairs.

 

They love em. Music in their rooms and in the shower. They send messages to us and each other without screaming thru the house. They set timers, ask for word definitions, weather etc.

 

They can also call us. They discovered that feature just today while my wife and I were out walking the dog.

They listen to everything you say. Talk about a vacation with the wife, boom adds apear for Disney on you phone. It freaks me the fock out man.

Really liking these.... especially this time of year where we play a lot of Christmas music
