Wagner's Real Americans 0 Posted August 9, 2006 BACKGROUND: Okay, I am in a 10 team keeper league that keeps 3 offensive players and 2 rookies from last season. So essentially, in a non-keeper league, my leagues first round draft choice would be the fourth round in regular non-keeper leagues. We also have 3 rounds of rookie picks before our player draft, of just rookies. With that said, I traded my first round rookie pick (9 out of 10) and my first round player pick (9th out of 10 also) and Cedric Houston (a rookie keeper) for... Cedric Benson, the second pick in the 2nd round of the rookie draft (3 picks after my FIRST round pick) AND, his 5 round player pick (10th out of 10). We both went to the championship this year and I am really wondering if this was a dumb move on my part. By making this trade I dont get the Darell Jackson type/Tom Brady that I would get in the first round, but being able to keep Benson as rookie keeper plus (LJ, CJ and Chester Taylor as player picks) just seems like a great top four. Usually I always feel I get the best end of the trades, but this one has me nervous.
EaglesInCentral 0 Posted August 9, 2006 huh... Hopefully I fully understood you but basically those 2 rookie draft picks are washes so you traded the 9th overall selection for Cedric Benson and a 5th round selection Not sure that is good for you
Wagner's Real Americans 0 Posted August 9, 2006 Yeah, but the 9th pick in our draft is like the fourth round in a league without keepers. Because we keep 3 plyers for each of the 10 teams, you can assume these would be the players picked in the first three rounds of other drafts. Put it this way, last year the first pick in our draft was Ahman green, followed by Javon Walker, then Tony G.
texasmouth 1 Posted August 9, 2006 Doesnt matter either way, 10 team leagues are for rookies and bush leaguers.
