wiffleball 4,640 Posted January 23, 2018 Most Americans really didn't get the impact of the 2004 tsunami. Literally, hundreds of thousands of people were happy and alive for breakfast and dead by lunch time. It was stunning. Waves moving between 500 and 800 miles an hour reaching all the way from Thailand to freaking South Africa for Christ's sake. As bad as the worst hurricanes can be, tsunamis are a whole exponential level higher in terms of the force and damage that they can bring. And we've got fault line sitting off the coast of Washington as I recall that has scared the crap out of scientists for decades.
