Latest federal judge nominee

Recommended Posts

Has only been involved in law for three years. Has never tried a case. His best qualification as far as we can tell? He thought Trump's tweet about Hillary 'rotten'Clinton was probably his best line ever! No kidding. American Bar Association has unanimously voted him unqualified for the job. Well no duh.

And he's fixing to get a lifetime appointment. Same guy who wrote that everybody should join the NRA one month after Sandy Hook. Among many other less than balanced view points.

I just keep waiting for the trumptards to come out and say okay this one thing at least is too much.

But like the man said, he could shoot somebody in the middle of Fifth Avenue and his fans would still adore him.

Again, worst part? Lifetime appointment. Trump and Bannon are doing their best to fill as many of these type of positions as quickly as they can to screw over at least two generations of America going forward. This guy is just 36 years old.

Would love to know how anybody actually defends this appointment and or confirmation.

You prolly have many valid points here but your lack of links makes it difficult sans our own personal research into your topics for any of us to ever form an educated opinion.

Your threads read something like this to me: You guys hear about that guy? Crazy, right? I'm sure the Trumptards will still support him though.

Depends on the subject. If it's something that's currently in the headlines, I figure anybody who gives a s*** to actually be educated can take the 30 seconds to Google and choose their own damn source.

Since inevitably well have trolls that lose their mind over whatever Source you happen to link even if it's a widespread story reported by 50 different sources.

Good example recently is the NSA leak.

What amazes me is how many posters here strictly get their news from this site. I get my news from somewhere else or more to the point several different places and then come here to see if anybody is discussing it.

If it's a deeper dive like some historical debate about the Civil War or whatever that isn't Front Page News? Yeah, then it makes sense to add a link.

But honestly, look at your own post herein. In the time it took you to type that and post that? You could have Googled the link yourself.😃

Fair enough and I hadn't heard about the most current NSA leak until your thread and did google last night. I as well would like to see that story boiled down into the Cliffs Note version. Looks huge.

As long as he is a Conservative, I don't care if his law degree is written in crayon. This country can't afford to have any more whackadoodle liberal judges.

Plessy Ferguson, Scopes Monkey Trial, etcetera are all seen as victories for so-called conservative judges.

Aka, plenty of frosting on the wackadoodle cake for both sides.

Pretty much sums up what's wrong with this country in one post...nicely done.

Yet another area where Trump has taken us to new lows.

Used to be you had to be qualified. Maybe you had a slant or some interesting views but at the very least people would look at your resume and say yeah, that guy can do this.

No more.

Im sure Obamas appointments were the most experienced sound minds in the country who were appointed based solely on their abilities.

Be cool if he would at least mention his name..

I skim wiffle's posts, can't really spend time deciphering his ramblings. Don't have that kind of time.

Thanks, not a fan.. Lack of experience along with connections to White House staff.

Side note, I like my Federal judges old and crusty. My personal opinion is, 36 is too young to be given any sort of lifetime appointment.

Senate should do it's job and deny his approval, problem solved.

:dunno:

NP, me I like my judges to as robotic and impartial as possible, right down the middle.

Even higher to me on than an amendment for term limits for congressman/senators, would be to change "lifetime" appointments. Read an article that had suggestions for all the different courts, but it was SCOTUS I remember best, 18 years would be the term, and every 2 years the president would get to nominate a new judge to replace a retiring one. Lifetime appointments was written into the Constitution when lifetime meant 60, maybe, not 85. Just my 2 cents.

Should be rejected by the Senate. Obviously to biased, lack of experience, and ties to the administration. Should be an automatic rejection. This is the shitt that needs to stop. Federal Judges should not be politically biased.

This is absolutely critical.

Lifetime appointment is stupid.

The idea is they arent subject to political whims because theyre on for life.

Well how would you not get the exact same result if they were on there for 20 years no matter what? Go ahead and issue the unpopular but necessary decision youre going to be there X number of years more no matter what, and never an extension no matter what.

Seems like a no brainer :dunno:

Some good points/ideas in here but then we might end up with SC judges retiring to go work the speech circuit or as paid consultants for giant corporations their rulings have helped.

What if you get promoted up a tier? Youre a district court judge. Get nominated to the circuit court. Does your 20 start over? And if you then get bumped to the supremes?

I guess youd have to make it 20 years no matter what level. Which would be problematic. Nobody goes from district court to supreme but you do get a lot of those DC Circuit focks on there

Great news. The Republicans finally realize that they don't really need Trump. Chuck Grassley nuked Brett Tally's nomination along with another equally unqualified judge if that's possible.

Honestly, no matter what side you're on, how would you even think of nominating this guy for a lifetime appointment? Like I said, even hardcore Republicans we're like what the fuc? And thankfully nuked the guy.
