Anybody have one of those outdoor light projection things they advertised on TV?

Recommended Posts

Just curious what the thoughts are on those things. I really don't see the need for bulbs anymore with some of the really cool LED chains that are out there. Those things kick butt and do a lot more than bulbs do. But I don't know anybody who actually has one of those light show projector things.

I have one. I bought it for my 2 and a half year old. I put it in the back living room so she can dance to it.

She loves it and is a good 30 minutes of exercise for me a week as I dance with her.

Gheyest thing ever.

Skibums reasoning for purchasing one is valid, but if you're the dork that sets your whole house ablaze with it then you are a bundle of sticks.

What is it?

Just a bunch of red and green lasers that move around and make patterns all over the place.

There was a house in the neighborhood that had about 15 of them in their lawn for Christmas... It was hideous...

Not sure it's the same thing but kinda sounds like it... there's this big fad around my neighborhood for halloween this year I've noticed where people are projecting all kinds of stuff. Some of it does actually look pretty cool. Some of it has got to scare the focking bejesus out of the kids, looks like there's a horde of zombies coming at you from their big picture window or something. Pretty realistic.

Anyway it kinda looks like the new thing. Expect I'll be seeing a ton of it at Christmas too.

I had three of them up for Christmas. Essentially it replaces me having to schlep up the stupid ladder to put up lights.

Sometimes they look trashy and sometimes classy.

A bunch of colored ones flashing all over a McMansion? Trashy

A few white ones elegantly lighting up a single wide in the park? Classy

We had one. It's okay but you either need to have two or three of them or live on a fairly dark Street otherwise you can't see them unless you are in the yard.

Oh and it got stolen. There's also that.
