Eagles Talking Playoffs Trash

Recommended Posts

Dallas Morning News Blog: Bill Nichols Reports

Donovan McNabb:``I can't wait to play these guys again. After what they did to us, I want to come back here. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.''

Donovan McNabb:``It's tough to beat a team three times,'' he said. ``We have to be able to come in here and do whatever it takes to win.''

Philadelphia Inquirer: Bob Ford Reports

"We stunk it up today," receiver Jason Avant said following the loss. "We'll have to go back and eat some humble pie this week. It'll probably work out better for us."

"I don't think it was a lack of effort," Reid said of the performance. "Maybe just too much effort. Need to relax a little bit."

I hear Tiki Barber reported during his pre-game for NBC Sunday Night Bengels @ Jets that McNabb says the Eagles have something special in store for the boys in the playoffs. Like losing 24 - 0 to The Boys and missing a first round playoff bye was all part of the master plan! lmao

Shouldn't you let your other alias handle this and worry about Welker and Brady instead?

Can the Eagle be any more pathetic?

So I am listening to First Take on ESPN and the hosts put in a call to Howard Eskin to discuss Philly's performance and what he thinks will happen on Saturday. Okay Eskin is a Philly sports personality so of course I expect him to say the Eagles will win, they are the better team, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway they ask Eskin about the mood in the locker room after the game. So he is going on about how the Eagles were embarrassed and then mentions this will not be the same Eagles team next week. Why does he say this? Because the Eagles feel like they were disrespected by the Cowboys because Romo throw the ball in the 4th quarter. ROFL---you have to be kidding me, now I cannot speak as to how Eskin knows this but if this is what the Eagles players where saying after the game this is truly pathetic.

Drumming up "disrespect" to get motivated for the next game? The second seed in the playoffs was not good enough so now they have to create "disrespect"--if this is really what the Eagles are taking away from yesterdays game, they better be prepared to be "disrespected" again.

Yes, because this is completely unlike any other talk radio feedback I've ever heard! Incredible!

Cliches??? Talking about abstract emotions as if they have a bearing on what's happened/going to happen??? How dare they!!!

Jeez, you're a moron.

I don't find too much trash talk here. What is #5 and the rest of the team supposed to say? They are talented and know they can beat anybody in the league on any given day - they got spanked Sunday but by no means fear us. They are very eager to get back down here for sure.

Some things I do find interesting though - watching some Iggs message boards. Seems to have been some rumblings/rifts going on up there between #5 and some of the younger players. Apparently Donny said some things that came off as putting the loss on the younger guys - basically throwing them under the bus. Jackson responded (basically) when asked - yea Donny needs to make some plays himself being an 11-year veteran yada, yada, yada.

This might be one of your dumbest posts (which is saying a lot). The Eagles are not talkin any trash in ANY of this. Seems like they were very humble in my opinion. What are they supposed to say? I can't wait to go in to Dallas and lose again next week? Absolutely not.

Obviously the Eagles will come with a different game plan. They looked awful on Sunday. Dallas played well. BUT the Eagles played awful. Dropped passes, missed tackles, etc. Not to mention a terrible defensive game plan and terrible all around coaching on Reid's part.

If you don't think the Eagles have the talent and ability to beat Dallas this weekend, you are crazy. Will it happen? I don't know...but it certainly could. Even after that whooping on Sunday, Dallas is only a 4 point favorite...seeing as you usually get 3 points for being at home...even the oddsmakers think these teams are VERY close.

They are acting like they threw the game. Such a lie.......They are not paying respect to a team who beat them twice and won the division.they are talking now like they won 24-0 and we got blanked......give me a break........they are still talking trash.............

celek is doing an interview now and he just said......"In the first two games we beat ourselves" Really? dude,,,,,,stop trash talking and say dallas beat you fair........this is crazy

according to celek, dallas did nothing to win.

The Eagles did beat themselves in both games, that doesn't mean Dallas didn't play well. Why would the Eagles patronize the Cowboys or even think for a second they can't beat them? The talent and ability on these two teams is very close.

Just want to add that Michael Vick is not part of the problem. Vick just said on an eagles website live interview that the eagles held nothing back sunday in the 24-0 loss. he said the eagles had alot to play for......I am giving respect to vick.......

the guy is a man and he said the right things.....he paid respect and said he would work hard next game......... :)

they are interviewing eagles players and only vick has given dallas respect. My issue is the lack of respect about game 2. Just say you played all out and got beat. They are saying they held back which is a lie. they are acting like dallas did nothing but get lucky.......... :)

Game 1 was a toss up - there for the taking and we made a play. Could of just as easily gone the other way.

Game 2 was just a total whipping. Yes Philly missed some plays, but so did Dallas - in addition to some costly penalties.

Dallas (imo) has advantages in more areas of the game than Philly does - most importantly on both lines of scrimmages. Tell you what would be crazy - to see both teams play their best game of the year - but one hell of a game........... Interesting point: when Philly gets some breaks, turnovers, whatever - they forced by making a play. When Dallas (or other team) does it, Philly did it to themselves, just saying.

You give some respect when the season is OVER. The season is not over. Therefore the Eagles will do everything in their power to beat the Cowboys on Saturday night. Who gives a damn what they say? Trust me, they know Dallas is a good football team, and have said so many times. They made mistakes in that game this past Sunday and the defensive game plan was awful. They don't owe anything to Dallas.

Tell you what - when the Cowboys win their first playoff game in nearly 15 years, then I'll give them "respect."

Far as McNabb's comments, he's right. The Eagles played a terrible game last week. The DL was manhandled in the running game, McNabb was not particularly sharp and I counted at least 5 clear drops on offense. The offensive game plan was horrible. Eight called runs isn't going to cut it. Reid's decisions to pass on 3rd and 2 and then attempt a 53 yard FG instead of going for it down by 17 was pitiful, too.

Credit to the Cowboys, they took advantage and won the game. But that was a D game by an Eagles team that's capable of playing much better. These two teams are pretty comparable in talent IMO and while Dallas has to be the favorite, there's no reason why the Eagles can't win on Saturday.

I'll also add: ALL the pressure is on Dallas. Their fans are all worked into a lather thinking this is a special year and they've finally got over the hump. If the Eagles lose, they were a wild card against a tough opponent. If Dallas loses they are the biggest choke artists in football and the coach probably gets fired.

I actually like Philly's chances this weekend and expect a MUCH more competitive game. :music_guitarred:

add another alias to the list fellas

I don't think so...unless he contacted the original guy with the Bruce Leroy nick (possible).

Pimp has been whining in the last week that there should have been a Bruce Leroy name on here...probably tried making one but it was already here.

Though...odd that he has been posting a lot lately and about the Cowboys.

Perhaps he is prepping the Bruce Leroy as his name if Philly wins and he loses his bet to Ghost.

Respect is given to those who earn it...and give respect in return.

You and your cowboys have done neither.

Not really. Alot of the local media made it a much bigger deal than it really was. ESPN reported on it because they steal eveything from the local media outlets.

McNabb was right, but he should have also included himself and some veterans on the team when he made his comments.

McNabb can make those statements because he is a proven veteran. He just can't exclude himself. That's all.

Exactly. And of course nobody is bringing up the question that McNabb was asked which led to his answer.

"On Sunday, McNabb was asked whether the Eagles showed their youth."

The better story, and I'm surprised it didn't get more coverage other than Angelo talking about it on 610, was the week 16 game against Denver. On the 4th quarter winning drive, McNabb threw a great pass down the sideline to Maclin who made an even greater catch to stay in bounds. The catch was reviewed and put the Eagles on the 13yd line. Well, McNabb didn't know that Westbrook was wired for NFL Films and he told Westy that the throw was actually intended for Avant! So in reality, McNabb overthrew Avant by 7yds and got lucky that Maclin caught it. But he lied about it! Here's the clip - http://www.nfl.com/videos/philadelphia-eag...n-27-yard-catch

#5 is the leader of that Eagles team and he's also the face of the franchise. I've no problem with him saying what he said - I do believe he's earned the right to say it. Now, whether or not he "should" of said it - that is up for debate. Maybe keep it in the locker room - not on ESPN.
