    POST-Combine Rookie RB Rankings

Thanks for this ranking, it was a great read. I've watched a lot of Big 12 (now Big 10?) football and Demarco Murray is a bit of an enigma. I think he has the chance to be a better pro than collegian because the spread offense that OU ran didn't seem to fit what he did as a runner and that O-line wasn't very good. When Peterson was there, he was a centerpiece of that offense. This past year Murray was an afterthought. There were several games when I didn't think that Murray was very good, but upon reflection I realize he actually made more of his opportunities then what was there for him to work with. A good quality for a professional RB. Probably not as bullish as you are, but he's defnitely worth a late 1st round dynasty pick. I'm a big fan of Bilal Powell. Not sure what it is, but something about him jumps out. How do you compare Fannin with another Auburn alum, Ben Tate?

2010 Champions ... how did you win it?

12 Team Dynasty, 22 man rosters, standard scoring, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE,DST,K Winning Team: QB Aaron Rodgers RB Arian Foster RB Steven Jackson WR Reggie Wayne WR Kenny Britt WR Johnny Knox TE Jimmy Graham K Nate Kaeding DST NY Jets Rodgers, Jackson, Britt, Knox, and Graham were all draft picks by me in their rookie years. Wayne I got in a trade a few years back. I picked up Arian Foster at the end of last year during his little breakout to carry on my roster through the offseason and see how things went. Roster cut time came along and I almost dropped him when the Texans drafted Ben Tate, but decided to hold him because I wasn't a big believer in Tate. But to do so, I had to trade away Zach Miller, TE Oakland to make room on my roster. That would bite me later. Had Jermichael Finley as my TE. Because I had traded Zach Miller, I had to pick up Kevin Boss and some other scrub to fill in. Panicked somewhat and offered Jimmy Graham and my 2011 2nd round pick for Greg Olsen to the Shockey owner, but that was luckily rejected. Graham started putting up points so he was in the lineup. My other WR was Steve Smith (CAR), and he was obviously worthless so had to roll with Knox. When Britt was out for those 5 weeks midseason, I started a combination of James Jones/MSW. Made it into the playoffs as the 5 seed and my team got hot (highest scorer 2 out of 3 weeks, 2nd highest the other week). Luckily I survived the first week of the playoffs with Ryan Fitzpatrick when Rodgers was out with a concussion. I did use some waiver wire strategy in the Super Bowl. Our waivers are run only once a week and dropped players can't be picked up until the following week. My opponent had Antonio Gates as his only TE so I dropped Boss and grabbed Jared Cook off of waivers to block him and he took a 0 at the position. I ended up winning the championship by 3 points and Cook had put up ~5 points that weekend. Thanks for the thread. It feels good to relive the glory of a championship season.

    Kevin Smith, DET RB

If the Lions can get their defense turned around, he'll have more opportunities. It's tough to commit to the run when you're defense is giving up two TD's on the first two drives of the game and you're down 14-0. I think Schwartz will help a lot with that because he's shown in Tennessee that he can get the most out of his defensive personnel. The o-line was mediocre, but Smith was able to make things happen in spite of that. If the Lions take a LT at #1 overall, it will only help his case. If it's a QB, hopefully they make o-line improvements with the 20th and 33rd picks. I think Smith is a solid #2 RB with decent upside, especially since he's active in the passing game with almost 40 catches last year. I think we'll probably see the Lions take a short yardage RB in the mid rounds of the draft (4-6) to provide some depth, but Smith will be the featured RB there.

I didn't catch it. What were the highlights?

    Jonathan Stewart

In my dynasty league, I'm a Stewart owner and tried really hard in the offseason to pry DeAngelo away but had no luck. I had drafted Stewart at 2 and Kevin Smith at 7 and offered the DWill owner Smith and my #1 this year for him and got turned down. DWill has two years left on his rookie contract with cap numbers of 2009:$1.6MM and 2010:$1.7MM and he'll be 28 when it expires. Stewart signed a five year deal with his numbers being 2009: $1.7MM, 2010: $2.1MM, 2011: $2.44MM, and 2012: $2.8MM. I'm not sure if Stewarts number include the prorated signing bonus. Seeing how the Panthers let Jordan Gross's deal play all the way out before resigning him, it might be a similar situation with DWill in that they'll let his rookie contract play out before and trying to sign him to a new deal. With Stewart in the fold, I think it makes it tougher for the Panthers to give him a huge contract. Stewarts numbers don't scream #1 RB money, but he's talented enough to make DeAngelo somewhat expendable. Of course, I'm a biased Stewart owner. DWill, however, was lights out and showed tremendous change of direction ability, inside toughness, and homerun capabilities. I was really impressed with him this year. In the end, I'm planning to hold onto Stewart because I won't get much value for him at this point. I think he'll be a solid #3 RB and might push 1000 yds and 12 TD's. I think it will be much like this year though, where the numbers are inconsistent and you'll have days of 10 carries 50 yards and others of 15 carries 120 yards and 2 TD's.

When does the RSP come out

Great, there goes one of my advantages in my Dynasty League. Our league subscribes to FBG, so all the teams in my league will now have access to the RSP. I've been using it for the last few years to get a leg up on the competition since none of them visit this site.

Yeah, why'd he leave and do I have to buy the '09 RSP at FBG?

    BREAKING NEWS: Braylon Edwards WORTHLESS!

Mr. Dropsies is going to the bench. I started him over Matt Jones because I wasn't sure what his suspension status was going to be. Thanks for that 1 pt, jack*ss.

    Matt Jones status

Looks like your info was right. I'm guessing Jones plays this weekend. Glad I've got him to play, but it's kinda tough having to wait week to week to hear something. Anybody see Joey Porters comment on Matt Jones still playing? The Associated Press reports Miami Dolphins LB Joey Porter said Wednesday, Nov. 5, he had no idea how Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones could still be playing despite having a felony cocaine charge against him earlier this year. Porter said, "He got caught with cocaine and Matt Jones is still playing football. How does he get away with that? And then you fine people $20,000 for making comments to the media about the refs. The guy got caught with cocaine."

    Mark Bradley

I'm picking him to stash on my roster. I have Matt Jones as my #3 WR and if he ends up suspended for this weekend I'm putting Bradley in. He has talent, but he couldn't stay healthy in Chicago. It looks like the change of scenery has been good for him and the Chiefs are trying to get him the ball. With Dwayne Bowe on the other side, he'll get a lot of one on one matchups against the #2 CB.

    Matt Jones status

Last I read, he was supposed to hear back on his suspension appeal sometime today. No word yet and that could be good news, meaning he'll play this weekend. TheHuddle: Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones is expected to get word about the appeal of his three-game suspension Wednesday, Nov. 5.

    Kevin Smith

Well, because of bye weeks and injuries I'm starting Mr. Smith this weekend. I'm sending nothing but good vibes towards Detroit and hoping they can make their way through the shroud of retardation surrounding the franchise.

Who will be next years Michael Turner

I got this from RotoWorld: 7/26/2006: Signed a four-year, $1.985 million contract. The deal includes $365,000 in guarantees. 2008: $445,000, 2009: $530,000, 2010: Free Agent So it looks like he has this year and next year left on his contract and his salary doesn't suggest he'd be released for cap reasons.
