Do you use the actual n-word? Be honest.

Recommended Posts

Never?

Once a year? Once a month? Once a week? Daily? More often than that?

I'll admit many many many years ago, I'd say it but almost never in a mean spirited way. That's the way I was raised.

But in the last 30 years or so, I have just not said it. Seems easy to do.

Now the reason I bring this up is yesterday I was in my local Home Depot. I was talking to an HD employee woman who had told me previously that she was voting for Trump. So I kind of teased her and asked how that Trump vote was working out for her. She replied that it wasn't what she had anticipated but at least that damn n****r isn't President anymore.

I was kind of floored because there was a Black HD employee man that heard it.

So I just slipped away but saw the Black dude later at the check-out. So I asked if it bothered him what she said. He said no and so I just left it the way it was.

I don't hear that actual word anymore. Maybe once or twice a year.

I used it a lot with my golf buddy who moved to DC this past summer :(

We were best friends for like 5 years, he's black, greatest guy ever. he didn't mind me using it at all.

But being from new england and all, it sounds like Nigga, you know, the friendly way of saying to people

you white people saying you never even think it are so full of sh1t its laughable

if I see a certain colored person, acting a certain way, I definitely think it, I never would say it

Not really. If I'm with my wife and they said it in a song I'll say it. Around my black friends never. But my black friends and I all agree that there black people and then there are actual n*ggers. Same as there's white people and then there's white trash

Hell yes. The thing is, it doesn't describe a color in my verbiage.

I haven't used it since college. Used it in front of a black fraternity brother, not even thinking about it. As a joke about Gary Coleman who was on T.V. at the time. Made for a very awkward next half hour, and then fortunately some good discussion, mostly with me eating crow and begging forgiveness and imploring how I wasn't a racist. We made up but not sure we ever had the same relationship again. So no, it's not a word I use. Ever.

I seldom see any. If you are asking me am I afraid a group of em would jump me for saying it, the answer is yes. What is your point though? If I saw a group of white thugs with pants down their ass and being disrespectful I wouldn't call them nigg'rs either. They are in my book though.

No never. Its incredibly trashy.

It truly is.. And not only that, it's a representation of how I was raised and a reflection on my parents. I'm grateful they raised me with some dignity and class at least.

My point is, why do you think you'd get your ass beat? My point being, that just bcoz it's not an offensive ugly word to you - to many it is.

And to many it isn't. I think there is a lot of fake outrage over the word. It's just my opinion.

Possibly...... You ought to test it out, see how much fake outrage there is next time you're in a crowd of black dudes, with no Calvary. Or to a couple of black men in military uniform.

C'mon Cruz, that's silly.

If you say "hey boys" to a crowd of black dudes, you're getting your ass kicked.

It's not black dudes. It's nigg'rs. Why would I say the word to just black dudes?

You may or may not if you say "hey boys" to a crowd of black dudes.

You WILL get your ass kicked if you say "hey N's" to a crowd of black dudes......... There's a reason for that.

I'm not saying it's fair...but black people have a pass when it comes to saying it to each other.

You don't have a pass.

What about hey anything. No one talks like that. What about hey homies? That better or is that a derogatory word too.

I talk to black guys often, know several of them... And I can tell you this, fake outrage is what white guys think exists when saying the N word - in front of a bunch of other white guys. They don't dare have the balls to say it in a crowd (or to) a bunch of black guys... Which according to the fake outrage theory doesn't make sense.. It's fake, why not do it? ............. You wouldn't do it bcoz it's only fake when they're aren't any black people around. And you wouldn't do it bcoz you know that they would find it offensive.

No. I will infrequently use the word in a joking way 1-2 / year? What can I say I got a blue sense of humor. I don't ever call people N word or use it for real.

The word was sculpted to include one color when it became popular in America. Words change connotation all the time, so it is very interesting to me.

Case in point, when I was about 17, my bro was 9. We were out to dinner with my aunt and uncle visiting from PA. My brother smiled at a similarly aged girl and said something to her, I don't remember. Some innocent kid stuff. I say, Damn, Vinnie is a little pimp. My uncle: Patrick! That is a horrible thing to call your brother! Me: Why?... Then their interpretation dawned on me.

I'd say if we could ever come to a general consensus that black people are treated the same as white people, the name probably loses a lot of its venom. Until then, it's still a word that they can have.

No. I guess I really don't. Definitely have said it many times in my life, but it's just not part of my regular rotation.

In college I cursed all of the time. When I graduated I started working in a professional office and quickly realized that I couldn't speak like that at work. At first it was a challenge until I realized that if I just worked such words out of my vernacular, it took no mental energy to NOT use them.

So no, I never use the n-word. Can't say I remember ever using it, although it is likely I did because my little NE PA hometown is a lot more racist than Phoenix.
