I think I'm going to try and grab them, given that the Ravens are playing the Saints.

I am 7th. I won't get anyone good atba position so I put a claim in for them. If Peterson plays it's easy...pickins

Anyone v. Bills is a go, especially if the interception maker, Peterman, is tossing the pigskin.

Remember when Derek Anderson hyped enough that had his own fantasy abbreviation?

DA!

I went with ARI instead. The Colts have a great match up with the Bills, but they have done NOTHING in fantasy YTD and they've given up big points.

Arizona has performed well and faces the Broncos. Maybe not the sweet play the Bills present, but good enough considering the Cardinals actually play some defense.

The problem is that their defense is really bad. My guess is that the playbook for Anderson will be shorter and they will play conservative.

I am actually considering the Bills defense as a streamer since they have been surprising and the Colts offense has been weak. Even if TY comes back, the Colts offense gives up sacks and turnovers. :dunno:

Indi is not a great defense, but they are 3rd in the league in sacks, and they are going against a QB who's coach said (earlier in the week) he was not ready to go yet. Indi's def is 9th in interceptions, 11th in forced fumbles and total offensive yards Indi is 16th and Buffalo is 31st.

Plus, Buffalo is last in passing and only has 738 yards through the air all year so far. I don't put all of that bad on the QB. They are also 18th in rushing. Not that great.

I'll take a chance on Indi.

In my league settings colts d only reached double digits once week 2 with 12. Meanwhile the Bills d has been over 15 three times, including the last two weeks. Peterman was the whole thing, with Anderson in at QB give me the Bills D over the colts all day.

Well, in my league they have 9+ points in 3 weeks so far, and I'm not saying the are great at all,

but when talking about streaming it means you are not going after teams that are already rostered. In my league the Bills are the #9 defense and definitely not available. So my point is that Indi is at least a team that has a good opportunity going against by far the worst offense in the league. And Indi hasn't had any negative point games to date, and are going against a QB that is not up on the system yet.

Sure, if Bills are gone, Colts could be a decent one-week stream. Seemed like the argument was Colts over Bills d.

I just look at Indy's complete lack of fantasy points through 6 games as a better indication of their future results than just playing the Bills. In 6 games, yes, they have 6 INTs and 4 FRs with 19 sacks, but they've give up 28+ points 4x. In my league scoring they average 5.5 ppg and have not topped 10 once (two games with 9). That's well below average, subpar even.

The Cardinals are not stellar, but have improved the last two weeks scoring 20 and 13. Those two games equal the point total for Indy in SIX games! Prior to the last two games, Ari was not great either, but they have 5 INTs, 6 FRs, and 18 sacks.

I see more potential in points in Ari, but I get the allure of any D against a Bills team that has been fantasy gold for any D. Problem is, Indy is not even "any D," they're worse than that. IMO

Rankings are nice and all, but I look for points. Ranking don't score me points, results do and Indy hasn't had them for any of six games.

Well, again, this thread is about streaming. Not about drafting. Who have you got on the waiver wire that is better? Oakland, SF, Tampa, NYG? It just depends. Anyway, Buffalo is terrible at playing offense. Maybe they break out this week on offense and put 350 through the air, 150 on the ground, and total 45 points, but probably not. Who knows though in the current day NFL. Anything is possible.

Bills are owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues. HTH

I like rankings a lot, but when it comes to Defenses I don't put as much weight into them. That's just me.

I only threw it in because they are ranked so high. No biggie.

"Yahoo leagues" being the key mention here.

ESPN leagues, they are owed in 27%. What is your point? You obviously don't know what a streamer is if you think that a DEF that is owned by less than 50% doesn't qualify.

My point is the Bills are a top 10 defense in fantasy this year. Why wouldn't they be owned? Anyway, stick with your online free leagues as a representation of your approach. Have fun man.

It's disappointing that for some posters, every discussion turns into an argument, name calling, and insults when someone, anyone disagrees with anything they say.

But, at least, there's something to be said for their consistency.

Yeah I totally get it. And I get why. I'm not even saying I disregard defensive rankings because I don't. I just tend to pause a bit more when weighting them is all. Sometimes I agree with the consensus stream of the week and sometimes I don't. I did last week with Houston (started them and they won me my week). This week with Indi I don't buy it. I like Denver more than Indy, although that may not be saying much.

Being under 50% owned doesn't necessarily make the DEF a streamer in some unique way comparative to the rest, it means outside of 3 - 4 teams in a given league everyone is 'streaming' defenses. So basically, every defense is a streamer outside of 3 - 4. If it's a 12 team league that's less than 50% of the defenses in the NFL and the majority of teams don't roster two defenses unless one is a forward looking stash. Ownership % for defense to me should be thrown out the window. Defenses cycle on and off the wire all season in exception of maybe 3 - 4 of them.

In my 12 team league a lot of the teams look forward a few weeks and hang onto their drafted Def, (based on that they thought them to have a good def and a promising schedule) then stream other defenses when they see a better match up.

Sure, some defenses get thrown back, but at this point of the year, when the bad offenses are defining themselves as bad, looking forward a couple weeks and grabbing a second def for a certain week, to me, is a better use of a roster spot than some 6th receiver that you never play or some 53rd ranked RB. Defenses can win you game too.

Also, weekly blind bidding structure for pick ups does not give a team a guarantee that they will get what defense they want on a weekly basis. The smart ones look ahead.

That's fair, but when bidding on a defense or simply just picking one up I'm sure you are ranking them yourself each week. Or even if you just play the one you drafted for the whole year you must have ranked them at least prior to the season.

In general I usually just look at rankings to see if there is something way out of whack with how I rank them for my team. If there is, I look closer at them to see if I am missing something. For instance, if Kareem Hunt were to ranked by a bunch of sites as the #25 RB this week, I would definitely look deeper and check why.

So I was a little surprised to see them up at #2 by a lot of different people.

Did not get them anyway. Last week I also failed to get Houston d because we go worst to first. I lost by 1 by sticking with Carolina. Houston had 18. I would pick up the Bill's but I am starting luck. As a rule I won't start a defense against my QB. I usually stream a couple weeks in advance but due to short bench and bye week issues I have not been able to.

Has nothing to do with fantasy, but take the points and bet the Bills. This is as trap game as trap games get. A 1-5 team is giving up 7.5 points to a Bills team that has destroyed better teams like Minn? I wouldnt avoid Colts D, since Anderson is starting, but Id be wary of thinking the Colts will blow them out.

My point was more that the Bills are not an every week defense as evidenced that they are owned by less than 30% of the leagues on yahoo and ESPN. I then went even more conservative and said that, even if they were 50% owned this week, then they are a streamer even if they have been in the top 10 in scoring this year. That is all.

I'd say that worked out pretty good....

:pointstosky:

 Would've been nice if defender wasn't pulled down short of goalline on that fumble recovery though.
