Instant Fantasy Analysis - WR Josh Doctson, Redskins

Recommended Posts

In my mind, Washington landed the best receiver prospect in this draft and fills a long-term need for the team. His ceiling (and his NFL comp) is somewhere in the neighborhood of Allen Robinson, while his floor should be among the best No. 2 receivers in the NFL after he adds some muscle to his frame and develops more polish as a route-runner. Like Robinson, he doesn't blow by his defender on the deep ball or jump off the tape with blazing speed, he just always seems to come down with the ball. Doctson needs to add more strength in order to be better after the catch, but the Redskins likely just landed their No. 1 receiver for 2017 considering DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garçon will be free agents after the season. Doctson will be just an injury away from having significant fantasy value in redraft leagues this year and should be considered the top receiver in rookie drafts of the four drafted to this point.

#2 overall dynasty rookie unless one of those decent runningback ends up somewhere good.

Good, off the top of my head, would probably be oakland, ravens, browns kinda, miami, jets kinda, indy, GB (I said it), bears, washington, eagles, and giants, and Seattle

As a Skins fan I will dearly miss Garçon. Great teammate, leader, tough as nails, great blocker and all around WR.

Jon Gruden stated today that Doctson is dealing with tendonitis in his achilles.

An interesting read about this particular injury here: http://www.podiatrytoday.com/article/981

I've dealt with some achilles pain as a runner, and it's no joke. Hopefully it's nothing too severe, but could be a precursor to additional injury if he tries to rush back. Something to keep an eye on for those doing late rookie drafts

He's as good as any rookie not named Ezekiel Elliot. There are 3-4 WRs that seem to be battling it out for top rookie WR and he's in that mix. He has a good frame and speed so it will come down to if he can adapt to the upgrade in competition in the NFL.

Washington isn't the most desirable spot for a rookie WR but it could be much worse. They seem to have a good up and coming QB and some other decent options to draw coverage. Still though it is an offense that is just coming around and will have some growing pains.

I really see him as more of a keeper/dynasty gem in a year or two than a big prospect for this season.

When you toss in Jordan Reed and V. Davis - that entire Redskin passing attack is pretty damn salty.

Do twin not starting out well. Tweaked his foot, came back too soon, and now has a sore Achilles or something. Yikes

Don't be surprised if Davis doesnt make the final roster. I'll be surprised if he does actually. Niles Paul is coming back and he's a very good blocker and excellent special teamer. And we have Logan Paulson as a run blocker. Carrier also has played well as a nice pickup from the Niners.

It's so crowded that if I had to bet money I'd bet he gets released.

He fell to me at # 4 in a draft. I think people might be a touch scared of the foot and crowded corps initially.

I have to admit even though he was near an auto pick just based on perceived value I did give some thought to Shepard, who I don't think has the ceiling he has, but might make an immediate impact.

AROB seems a bit high for me as a comp for him. What about Michael Floyd?

I guess the point is the same. A guy that typically find a way to win the jump balls with good size and catch radius.
