Fast and the furious 8

So allow me an old man rant for a bit. (Spoiler alert, but if you have an iq north of 25, it doesn't matter, as you already know the plot.)

 

I never saw the first six installments of this franchise, but I saw 7 and saw 8 tonight (gf likes the series).

 

I get that movies, action movies in particular, are supposed to be a bit over the top, but Christ, that movie was too much. My suspension of disbelief meter broke halfway through.

 

So car theif gang ends up tracking a cyber terrorist. Main guy (how the Fock, btw, does vin diesel find work? Dude can't act, is semi retarded, and ugly as Fock) has to work for the bad guy because she has his kid.

 

Somehow they managed to steal a super AWAC. Missed that part.

 

Then they hack into a few dozen cars, self drive them all at once, and use them to steal launch codes to Russian missiles.

 

The Russians of course, can't just change the focking codes.

 

So now we steal a Russian submarine with nukes.

 

But fortunately, our heroes arrive. For some reason, they felt that orange Lamborghinis and such are the appropriate vehicles to storm a Russian military base on a sheet of ice.

 

At one point, the rock leans out of a moving vehicle to kick and redirect a torpedo.

 

A massive submarine, while crushing massive sheets of ice mind you, Chases down aforementioned souped up cars.

 

Eventually all is well and the standard all together meal scene is at the end. All is forgiven our hero of course. Sure, you probably killed something in the ballpark of 100 innocent people. Cops, etc.

 

Sure, you stole nuclear weapons.

 

Sure, you helped a terrorist who intended to nuke people and you knew it.

 

Oh? She had your kid? Well ok then, no problem. We understand.

 

Focking ridiculous movie. From start to finish. Entertaining I suppose, but freaking absurd.

Yeah pretty much agree. Sometimes movies are escapes. Not a lot of what James bond ever did was realistic either I suppose.

But I gotta agree about vin diesel. Can't they find better? The rock too. Massively lame action heroes

Best action series ever and nothing else comes close for that many movies. Sorry if it's not The English patient. I agree with CBfalcon, if they don't do something that makes me laugh at how silly and over the top it is, I'm dissappointed. I need to want to stand up and shout "that's not how physics works!" at the screen or I'm not happy.

 

Also Supermike watch your mouth when you besmirch The Rock like that. I'd watch a 2hr movie of just him taking a crap, he is that great. Others must agree since he is the top movie star in the world and highest paid.

Also Titans for what it's worth, watching them in backwards order might be better for you. They notoriously get more over the top In each one so as you go down it will be less zany. By the time you get to the first few it's just about street racers and DVD player theft. The first 3 are basically a completely dif set of movies. It took off at 4.

Accurate. And this past movies is supposed to be the start of a triology. So they are making a 9th and 10th movie with 10 being the last one

I saw about 10 minutes of one of these movies. Absolutely terrible. But if there is ever Trump: the movie (I'll wager there will be, plus a few sequels), Vin Diesel would be great as lead.
