These are old. Most of these would have been overturned after review.

They overturn strike 3 calls now :o (or any balls strikes) argue and get thrown out  dumbest thing ever to give umpires no way of being held accountable

The days of having an umpire behind the plate for balls and strikes are over.

Still need them at the bases to fock up check swing calls and blunder plays on the bags

Yes. They should be replaced by a machine. The only control they should have is over plays at the plate and field.

I saw one strike 3 (can't be overturned) and several plays missed in the field (can be overturned).

If you want to say that umpires should not be used for balls and strikes, then say that and show some recent video that explains why. That isn't what this video did.

Yesterday Max Kepler was rung up by an umpire. Call was 2 balls one strike. Pitcher threw an OBVIOUS BALL. Kepler questions the umpire and the very next pitch is EVEN WORSE. The umpire run him up. The umpire should be suspended or fired TODAY.

If Greg Maddux pitched today, he would have been just any other pitcher.

because of the strike zones on the screen at all times, No pitchers ever get many calls off the plate and certainly not 40 a game like maddux did

Umpires know they can't and will never be held accountable

This is 100% correct. It was well known that the strike zone was wider for maddux than it was for other pitchers. Not only that it was universal. ALL umps treated him this way.

and it's impossible to get away with it now. The umpires are graded on the strike zone we see on the tv (all star game, playoffs, world series)

There are still guys that suck at it. Bill Miller and CB Bucknor come to mind.

Brian Knight was awful the other night in the Orioles/Red Sox game. Sale was complaining about pitches that were called correctly, but he was still steaming about pitches earlier in the game that were poorly called. The Orioles pitcher was screwed too on some calls.

I love how umpires make their own rules too

if a pitcher hits his spot and it's outside. strike

if a pitcher misses his spot and it goes right down the middle, ball

DA FUQ!!!! is it a strike or not, I dont give a sh1t where the catcher lines up!

That doesn't bother me as much. Sometimes, the catcher lunging for a ball can block the view of the ump.

The ones that get me is when a catcher "shapes" a pitch that was outside the zone or when the ump just gives up on a breaking ball too early. How long have these guys been doing this? Neither of those should cause an ump to be fooled.

Yes!!

I understand some sports have judgement calls all the time. Fouls in basketball, strike zones, interference calls, Etc.

But balls and Strikes shouldn't be one of them. I don't understand why you can't have a little earpiece in the umps ear that will signal when it's an actual strike and they just make the call. You wouldn't even notice the difference.
