Not I. I knew he was going to be a top QB and thought the Bucs should pass on QB (crablegs Winston) and tank it another year in order to get a real NFL QB. Goff or Wentz. I've always know that Jeff Fisher sucked but McVay showed the world how bad Fisher really was.

I wish more was said about how Fisher robbed Steve McNair of his Air for several years. And he pouted like crazy through the early part of the Vince Young experience too. But oh well, at least he wont likely have a chance to ruin any other teams.

He truly was widely considered a bust................... as in it had already been determined.

I picked him up off the WW in a 26 roster slot dynasty league (pretty deep) the summer after his rookie year because my only 2 QBs were redraft WW types. I felt silly doing it because there were better options at other positions but the roster was QB challenged long term, so I took the flier.

He was basically worthless even in dynasty leagues even though some of the owners who drafted him as rookie held because they had invested a pick. Nice turnaround..............makes you wonder about some of the past young QB phenoms, how different things might have been.

I contend Rick Mirer would have been better off if the seahags didn't draft him

this can be said for a ton of QBs

I remember when he was a bust.

Just goes to show you that in the game in football how underrated coaching really is.

He played 1 horrible quarter, like a man lost. Then he played 1 good one. Then a good half. He's not the reason the Rams will win the SB, it's McVay, then the defense, then the running game, then Goff.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him traded before he gets his big contract extension. Big QB contracts weigh down franchises, especially QBs that aren't elite. If the Rams feel like it's a lot more McVay than Goff, then I think they may try and trade him. The Rams traded picks, and then handed out a lot extensions and cash this past year. Trading Goff could recoup those picks and keep them under the cap.

Love to see this thread. I feel like I am usually the one pointing these things out. I rant about bad coaching, but it's so rampant that how many good coaches are there? Andy Reid can't get out of his own way. Sean Peyton has been to one SB with one of the most prolific passers of all time.

I would argue, its not just about putting together a game plan. sometimes it is about managing people, and their expectations.

sometimes it is about having those tough conversations and making a player understand why you need him to do things differently.

each NFL coach likely has at least one of these things in his favour or they wouldnt have made it this far in their coaching career.

but how many coaches have all the boxes checked off? Not many.

KC just can't catch a break. Their coaches just can't get it done.

Remember when Jeff F. slowed the production of Air McNair? I do. That dude was born to air out the football. Nope. Jeff wanted a ground & pound game and overworked Eddie George instead. In todays game, Steve McNair would be a Superstar in most of the offenses. Jeff just sucks.

Not even a remote possibility this happens. I live in St. Louis and had to see Kroenke in action. He wants "names", not talent. For now, the GM is calling the shots due to them needing a win. Once the stadium is ready, and the Rams have been successful for a few years, it will all change. Look at every other franchise Kroenke owns. They are all middling teams with absolutely no structure. Goff will get a mega-deal. I agree with what you are saying, but Kroenke would never view it that way.

It would only be fair if each and every time a commentator or show host or whomever gives Sean McVay any credit... that Jeff Fisher is also mentioned and discredited.
