Trump threatens to close 'Southern Border entirely

Recommended Posts

President Trump on Friday threatened to "close the Southern Border entirely" if Democrats do not agree to provide money to "finish" building a wall on the Mexican border.

Trump made the threat as a partial government shutdown enters its seventh day with no end in sight.

It's an interesting escalation on his part, but i don't think he has thought this through clearly.....

Then you'd be wrong.

Everything is calculated. Just like his tweets on Christmas Eve about being all alone in the White House. A day later he pops up in Iraq AFTER the media reacts as he knew they would.

He's the greatest troll the MSM/DNC has ever seen.

President Trump on Friday threatened to cut foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, accusing the Central American countries of "doing nothing for the United States but taking our money."

"Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are doing nothing for the United States but taking our money," Trump tweeted.

The whole pitch for the wall was Mexico paying for it. Now hes holding the government hostage and extorting to try and get it built, which it wont be.

Impeachment chance started at about 60, went down to around 10 and is now back up to around 30-40 Id say.

Obviously you and many others don't know what he meant by that statement.

He didn't mean that they'd take out their pen and write America a check, but that Mexico would lose that economic balance on many levels.

Im gonna need some links to support this stance. I can cite you about 100 quotes that say or directly imply pen to checkbook, Mexico will pay for the wall. Im perfectly fine if things changed and he had to backtrack and now wants us to pay for it. Things happen. But to say thats not what he built the whole wall pitch on is a bit silly as it was blatantly the case.

Oh, no. See, it is going to be a big beautiful wall and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Oh, wait. They won't pay for it directly. The new trade agreement will bring in the money for that. Of course, the supposed money that comes in from that is through tariffs. Guess who pays for that? It is consumers and not Mexico. It is all a shell game that he is playing and the people that fell for it originally are going to fall for his story every time.

Everyone wants a secure border, right? A wall in many spots is a fine idea. What's the big deal? Oh yeah, Trump wants it.

Tighten the borders, but walls are not going to cut it. It will take forever to build and it won't live up to the promise. It was a simplistic campaign talking point that people latched onto. Let's figure out something that will actually work and can be done now. Trying to take all of the necessary land by eminent domain will take a very long time even before you can break ground.

Anyone who thinks this is about money is an idiot! Our annual budget is over $4 Trillion and you are worried about $5 Billion for border security.

I suppose your house has walls. Does that combined with locked doors keep unwanted people out unless you invite them in?

If walls don't work, what's the deal with prisons?

I think the wall is a half-measure, likely not worth the money it will cost, because they will just dig under it like they already do (drug cartels etc) I think a wall is fine, but without ample bodies to watch the border, these criminals still find a way in.

The border patrol agents union thinks a wall in certain areas would be very effective. Are we just dismissing them? Pelosi and Schumer are our experts now?

Not sure if you know this, but prisons walls are effective because there are guards there as well making sure that the inmates don't dig themselves out or climb over it. The wall itself will not get it done as it needs better patrols and better ways of dealing with people attempting to come into the country both illegally and legally.

Same thing with my house. If I have a locked door and walls, but I am never home, someone could just break in.

As I stated above, I agree with them. Fencing and better patrols in certain areas is part of the solution. But it is just part of the solution. Trump wants everyone to believe that there is a quick fix via this magical wall that will be real beautiful because he is a builder... yada, yada, yada.

You know, this whole tunneling underneath isn't as easy as people think it is. The tunnel has to come up somewhere, covered, like a building, to go undetected. That's not going to work in the open areas. They won't build a tunnel that will only be used once or twice before detection. If it were so easy they wouldn't send any drugs at all through checkpoints with mules.

No, they say Wall. Along with other methods. But Wall is part of it.

Walls are a deterrent; just like a prison. The guards augment the walls.

No wall on the southern border means they don't have to dig or climb over. Go put a sign in your front yard stating you don't lock your doors which is what you're wanting to do without a wall on the southern border.

JFC.................hatred of Trump has made some of you focks GD retarded.

Of course. It takes all sorts of methods. And a Wall can play a great, cost effective part. A wall doesn't go on vacation, sick or get a pension

If I were the President, I wouldn't just build a wall. I would hire roving bands of mercenaries to drive Mad-Max style along the border and slaughter any illegal they can catch.

No one is saying we get rid of border enforcement if we have a wall. The idea of the wall is to funnel the illegals to specific places where we can then apprehend them or prevent them from crossing and to make crossing more difficult. Include drones and cameras along the border as part of a multi faceted strategy. Making it difficult to cross will lower the number of people attempting. Then, since there will be less border needing to be actively monitored, use your limited human resources more effectively for those still trying to cross.

Thats all true. The bigger issue is that a lot of land along the border isnt owned by the US government. And most people here illegally are overstaying their visas and not crossing the border. And Trump said about a million times that Mexico would pay for it.

I dont necessarily care if we do have a wall but its more of a campaign prop and monument to Trumps vanity / stupidity than anything. It definitely is not a reason to shut down the government.

Some wall is fine. Some drones and patrols are good. I still think the best method is fine/jail business owners that hire illegals.

Thing is, you wouldn't hear so much about Trump love if it weren't for the Trump hate. It's just people absolutely sick of Pelosi and Waters and Sharpton and Michele and Hillary, and Obama, etc... They won't shut up and accept a loss.
