Ah, what a glorious Holiday! Let us celebrate that the inventor of the law of physics and programmer of the DNA code decided to enter the uterus of a Jewish virgin, got himself born, then deliberately had himself tortured and executed because he couldn't think of a better way to forgive the theft of an apple, committed at the instigation of a talking snake.

Blessed Good Friday and a Happy Easter!

Where dem eggs at?

I think Jesus was probably killed by his friends who got tired of hearing about his Dad.

if you think about it, Easter completely repudiates John 3:16 and makes God the biggest Indian-giver of all time.

Happy Easter Bunny! Bock Bock!!

Some of us appreciate the nice sentiment that NV was trying to convey, even if we do think religion is silly.

Why are atheists so freighted of a man who died over 2000 years ago. What a bunch of insecure losers.

Being made fun of isn't exactly be persecuted. Last I checked every religious person has the right to attend church, pick a religion of their choosing, things of that nature. I get so tired of hearing about the poor Christians being persecuted. You never hear stories how religious people discriminate or try to influence things based on their beliefs huh. Christians are so tolerant of others, gay people cant even get cakes made in some instances due to religious intolerance. Yep. Always the intolerant atheists huh.

Do you believe in Allah? Or Buddha? Then you're an atheist.

Why are some people so butt-hurt by a select few people on a second-rate fantasy football message board who made a few jokes about Christianity?

Jesus still loves you, and that is all that matters.

I'm glad Jesus came along, God was a d!ck;

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Speak to Aaron, saying, None of your offspring throughout their generations who has a blemish may approach to offer the bread of his God. 18 For no one who has a blemish shall draw near, a man blind or lame, or one who has a mutilated face or a limb too long, 19 or a man who has an injured foot or an injured hand, 20 or a hunchback or a dwarf or a man with a defect in his sight or an itching disease or scabs or crushed testicles. 21 No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a blemish shall come near to offer the Lord's food offerings; since he has a blemish, he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God. 22 He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy things, 23 but he shall not go through the veil or approach the altar, because he has a blemish, that he may not profane my sanctuaries, for I am the Lord who sanctifies them.” 24 So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the people of Israel.

always seem to be a glaring problem with the Bible. The same God who could see as far into the future east is from the west, had to send his son down to earth to rewrite the contract that he made with men. you would think if you knew what the future held, you wouldn't have to rewrite your own contracts.

I'm not really religious but I never had this problem. An omniscient God would recognize what people need at the time and adjust his message accordingly. Take the creation story; folks back then weren't knowledgeable enough to understand the science behind evolution, so he dumbed it down for them.

Wrong. That's not "omniscience". That's "situational awareness".

I'm too tired to break down the whole "Moses was losing his followers" argument right now, but what you said is nothing more than situational awareness - which is the complete opposite of "seeing as far into the future as the east is from the west."

Your version involves someone who writes a contract to buy a house - having absolutely no idea that 30 days later, a tornado will rip the house from its moorings.

My glaring problem with the bible is the fact it seems like complete and utter bullshiit. If you tried to make up a story like that today NO ONE would believe you. But because it was made up 2,000 years ago when people were stupid and believed anything now it is religious doctrine? Gimme a break. How about the fact that a lot of the stories from the bible were flat out stolen from other religions? Or the fact that major religious holidays were dated to pagan festivals in order to steal their thunder.

Or the fact that some of the gospels were omitted because they didn't re-inforce the agenda that the church wanted.

Oh yea that is a great one too. Did jesus have a wife and kids? We may never know because the books that were cannonized were only the ones that told a specific view of his life. Not the totality of his life or his work. Would the jesus be happy knowing that his story was cherry picked in order to paint his life in the best possible view?

Many of the stories in the bible are not literal. We get it though. You don't believe. I just think there are a gazillion things that have to happen in order for life to occur. I just don't see this happening by chance.
