ZeroTolerance 582 Posted May 25, 2018 I only add Great American for his service in WW2 and Korean War. Could you imagine Bryce Harper telling Nats he's joining armed forces for better part of 3 years ?? No doubt on the great American part. Williams and Mays were the only two names I put down to start for the baseball category.
Voltaire 4,558 Posted May 25, 2018 I only add Great American for his service in WW2 and Korean War. Could you imagine Bryce Harper telling Nats he's joining armed forces for better part of 3 years ?? Please. He didn't want to go. He got drafted and tried to avoid service. His actions were so shameful that Quaker Oats dropped him as their spokesperson. Joe DiMaggio OTOH enlisted in the Army the day after The Day That Will Live In Infamy. Then, come February, found himself in a cushy Hawaii assignment far from the front lines. He spent the war shamefully sipping coconuts on the beach as a PE instructor with a bad attitude and gained ten pounds. But I digress. His main function was as Army recruitment poster boy: even Joe DiMaggio volunteered.

Voltaire 4,558 Posted May 25, 2018 Thanks to ZeroT for his traffic cop and research while I'm going through some of these time-tax headaches. Weekends are always trouble to keep up since I work then but I've been dealing with a couple of other things during the week as well that's been distracting me. This is temporary and will pass. I suspect by next week, I'll be more fully out of the woods., surely the week after that. Hopefully soon, I'll have all my usual fock off time restored. Voltaire 4,558 Posted May 26, 2018 25.04 - Willis Carrier - inventor Invented electrical air conditioning. Might be my favorite modern invention. I could have sworn he was taken but I checked all the likely spots, then thought I made an error of omission somewhere so went up the list a couple times and... didn't find it. Maybe somebody picked him then deleted the post. Otherwise, I must have come across his name in my research and confused him with somebody else.

Voltaire 4,558 Posted May 26, 2018 How is drafting Seal Team 6 or V Corps abusing the draft? They should absolutely be included in an American history draft. They should but some stuff we didn't think of a category before hand. We ought to have a category where Audie Murphy is a stud pick too. The person who took him, (Vudu?) put him in non-fiction writer. Not a clean fit but there isn't one for him.
5-Points 2,729 Posted May 26, 2018 It does feel like it could be easily abused (in before Seal Team 6, V Corps, etc).Agreed. If we're giving 90'sbaby an entire regiment we have to go back and give TBBOM the entire Manhattan Project team.
