ELVIS!

****Official 60s Music Draft**** (Complete)

Recommended Posts

Like everyone else says - so many directions to go. Now that we have passed the self noted Elvis fan and his sex toy (with a candy cane in her butt) I will grab this now.

"Suspicious Minds" was widely regarded as the single that returned Presley's career success, following his '68 Comeback Special. It was his eighteenth and last number-one single in the United States.

3.06

Suspicious Minds

Elbow Parsley

One of my favorite Elvis songs, also like the cover by Dwight Yoakam

I may be looking to Trade in the 4th. Your 4th and 5th pick for my 4th and 5th back to back picks.

Open to anyone if the songs I am targeting are still on the board. Getting it out there before 4th round begins.

WTF is wrong with you?

As if I don't already know that song! I simply said I don't care for it.

Blasphemy on both a musical and spelling level.

Sorry for the delay; had a team call with my boss which, let's just say, I thought might be a big "yer all fired!" meeting (it wasn't, all is good). I'll pick shortly.

Man this is tough; I'm trying to avoid bands that have already been picked (for a while anyway) and every time I think of a song there is another song from that band I want to hold off for (hopefully). Sticking with iconic songs and one of the most recognizable opening riffs of all time.

That was slotted for my next pick.

ETA: I've had 2 projected 3rd rounders sniped so far. This could get ugly fast.

Three songs were at the top of my board after my third pick...one is already gone, not optimistic about the next two.

ETA: there goes the second

3.07 You Really Got Me - The Kinks

"The Kinks initially stayed within the boundaries of genres such as R&B and blues, but soon began experimenting with louder rock and hard rock soundsdue to their pioneering of the field, they have often been labelled as "the original punks". Dave Davies became bored with the traditional "clean" guitar style of the period; in search of a louder, more biting sound, he famously split the speaker cone of his Elpico amplifier (nicknamed "the little green amp"): "I started to get really frustrated [with the amp's sound], and I said, 'I know! I'll fix you!' I got a single-sided Gillette razorblade and cut ... [from the centre to the edge of the] cone ... so it was all shredded but still on there, still intact. I played and I thought it was amazing." The jagged sound of the amplifier was replicated in the studio; the Elpico was plugged into a larger Vox AC30, and the resulting effect became a mainstay in The Kinks' early recordingsmost notably on "You Really Got Me" and"

3.08 For What It's Worth-Buffalo Springfield

You SOB...this was the one I really went back and forth with along with Sittin on the Dock of the Bay and then took the Beatles song. As this kept falling I was happy it almost made it back to me.

Give me a sec and let me find the video for my backup song...just got home.

zoner really grabbed that one...hmm...trying to find someone that just screams the era and that was one that did going along perfect with my first 2...well, that is out the window and Im going a slight different way...still very big to the era and just a song that has lasted and be redone over and over but never same as the original. Was a huge favorite of my mother (and was one I starred as really wanting to have as it comes up on a year since she passed). So...for my mom and my family...
