#5962803 Total Eclipse 2017

Posted by cmh6476 on 23 June 2017 - 08:08 AM

It looks from this like the entire country will experience a partial eclipse:

http://www.weather.gov/chs/eclipse

From what I learned this year is that it's a different experience with totality.  We will experience a total eclipse, basically nighttime for three minutes during the day, and leading up to that will be a 1.5 hrs of sunset and then the experience of a sunrise following.  In addition, there are tons of other phenomena they are saying occurs during a total eclipse :dunno:

this will be my first, and could very well be my last since they say it isn't coming to our area again for another 184 years :bench:

#5960942 Ten Days of Concerts - Day 8 (bands you saw in their prime)

Posted by cmh6476 on 21 June 2017 - 06:47 AM

For those getting tired of this sh-t, only two more days to go.

You can obviously have more than one in this thread.  And bands obviously don't all have to be great just to be in their prime.

I probably have several just need to think it through.  And it's interesting to think of when a band is actually in their prime, as some are probably several albums in while others are earlier in their career.

I saw Snoop when he was touring with lollapalooza right about when he was peaking

#5956328 Multiple people shot, including congressman in Alexandria, VA

Posted by cmh6476 on 14 June 2017 - 07:31 AM

many know I used to work for a GOP Congressman.  My boss traditionally played in the Congressional baseball game, and had for the last 5 or 6 years.  Just found out he wasn't playing this year for some reason.  Thoughts and prayers to all those impacted

#5924941 The threat of AI

I'm at a feeding america conference and just heard a presentation about the future of the food industry, and online shopping and drones delivering product within minutes after ordering, and that this will happen within the next ten years.  I think we are going to see some very drastic changes within the next decade that should scare a lot of us.  Just trying to figure out how to prepare and adapt and deal with changes in the workforce for our future generations will be challenging enough, and that's not taking into consideration computers beginning to think more like humans.
