I agree, its always the teams with Cinderellas and breakouts that win. Lamar Miller and Lynch arent going to get it done. The guy with the free agent QB who is somehow top 5, the RB5 whos starter got hurt and hes now suddenly Barry Sanders and the rookie who people doubted but is playing like a 2nd rounder is the guy who will put up a big score in the playoffs.

Unproven (Saquon, Royce, kerryon) are being drafted over solid but unspectacular veterans (lynch, Deion lewis, Burkhead). It feels like chasing upside over predictability.

Lewis changed teams and is very susceptible to injury. Burkhead has a small Tear in his knee and never sustained success. I am not a fan of Kerryon, but saquon and Freeman are obviously in great position. Look at how many unprovens did great last year

won a league a few years ago with borltes and a-rob...a-rob was like a 6th rounder and ended up with borltes off waivers

 

also finished 4th last year after losing my 3rd round pick for the year very early....cause i drafted kamara...i still could have won the league if i didnt F up a couple times late in the year with lineup chocies

I wouldn't dismiss Lynch. But Chris Warren is that guy is Lynch goes down. If I had one more bench spot he would be on it in my big money. My rbs are too good imo to justify having him with Fournette, Barkley, Freeman, Hyde, and Connor. Connor is expendable, but I have Warren in one league and don't own any of Connor. If Leven got hurt I could have 5 top 15 rbs on my roster.

Anyone with any kind of preseason injury issue or negative news in general fell like rocks in my draft. I ended up swooping up several....engram in 9th, r. Jones in 10th, and Parker in 12th.

 

 

Also it definitely pays to drink a little less than everyone else.

I learned that I started drinking too early and accidentally took Kamara, Thomas and Ingram. While all three were top 5 at their position last year, I see this leading to some boom or bust weeks. I also drafted Edelman in the 8th, so the first 4 weeks might be a little rough, with Kelvin Benjamin and Carlos Hyde as my WR3 and RB2.

That's fine if you don't want them, we are talking about double digit picks...players you hope turn into something but can be dropped if need be. My main point wasnt a brag but more informational for anyone looking at adp of guys like this (some sites show Jones being 6 or 7th rnd and Parker in 10th), they are still falling and can be had later if you are still interested.

Shortly after the draft last year, I was checking Yahoo's season-long projections for other reasons and happened to notice that the guy who got the highest draft grade in my league had selected a couple guys who rated particularly well on their list. I stopped what I was doing and checked all of his selections against the list and came away with the distinct impression that he literally could have used their projections as his draft ranking guide.

 

I'm with you. After checking their 2018 projections for a handful of players and having my eyebrow raised more than once, I decided to ignore them altogether. Means I may have to join you at the back of the class.

Last season Yahoo projected I would finish last (finished second) and the champ was projected 2nd to last. I find the projected points to only start to be useful around week 8

I've learned you can't fix stupid. I joined a co-workers league a few years back, this is my 4th season. bunch of packer and vikings homers, so those players go early...i get it, you want to root for "your" team, awesome! What I cannot wrap my mind around is kicker run that started at the end of the 9th and consumed almost all of the 10th. Gostkowski as the 2nd to last pick of the 9th, then 7 more kickers in the next 11 picks??!!! I've been the top scoring team 2 of 3 years and was 2nd the other year. These guys are just HANDING me good players and yet never seem to learn. A run on kickers that's not in the last round?!

Many more Rams and 49er players were drafted this year than in recent years. Guys in my league still do dumb things like select a backup punter prior to selecting back up defensive linemen and linebackers.

i learned that even just a couple of jackasses that decided to auto-draft, majorly mess up your plans at finding jems in the mid to late rounds, because yahoo will autodraft players for them that they themselves would normally not draft

I have my guys I like. I have been following ffc adp trends and thought I needed to take guys earlier than their adp. Well it's a good pot for winning, but it's not a shark league. I was able to wait for the guys I wanted, for the most part.

 

In this league, qbs have historically gone early. The 1st qb drafted was Rodgers in the 4th. If there ever was a year to wait and pass on a guy like Rodgers, this is it

I'd say Rodgers in the 4th is good value.

 

I have never been a fan of drafting a QB in round 1 but this is a point where I think it cant be a bad move getting an elite QB in round 4.

It depends on the year. If it's a year where I am a little unsure of later round qbs, then Rodgers in the 4th is great. This year I feel like there are going to be some great options late who will out perform their adp by a lot

In all of my drafts, players with suspensions are being overly penalized. In one draft I got Mark Ingram in the 8th; Aaron Jones going about round 15, Edelman round 12; I picked up Winston as my backup QB in round 16. Absolutely the suspensions need to be factored in, but this is value!

I learned that there are 15yr FF vets who still don’t grasp simple draft concepts and get defensive when you offer to teach them or explain it. It’s really frustrating when I personally would embrace the tutelage. I don’t get it.

Took an extremely aggressive strategy in keeper auction league. Kept DJ and Danante Adams and then got Barkley as rb2 and CMC with flex. I got Stafford and Kittles (TE) for both $1 and ended up with Kupp or Benjamin as Wr2. Rest of bench included Kerryon Johnson and rookie wrs along with Dez.

 

But you can really get qb, te and bench for minimal and focus on Rb and Wr. This was a 10 team league
