Week 7 WR scoop and play...who you got?

I picked up Derek Carr, Rueben Randle, Jace Amaro, and MJD this week. While I would not shy away from Carr's match-up, i am stout at QB. But i do intend to play Rueben Randle this week.

Week 6 WR scoop and play, let's hear em

My scoop and play was Mohamed Sanu. And although I had already rostered him, Sankey got his first start for one of my teams today. I also like the Andre Roberts call although i didn't start him today. I did grab Roberts this week for two of my teams for next to nothing.
  3. Again, here are prior weeks pick-ups beginning with week 3: wk 3 - http://www.fftodayfo...37244&hl=waiver wk 4 - http://www.fftodayfo...37753&hl=waiver wk 5 - http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=438242&hl=waiver You probably have noticed a few trends about my blind bid waiver pick-ups, and also my free agent pick-ups immediately following. First, I study and track targets by wide receivers every week. I avoid adding players who have a great stat line on only two or three targets in favor of picking up players with steadily increasing target progressions or those who consistently get 7+ targets per week. Secondly, I am opportunistic in my player pick-ups, preferring to hit plentyt of singles, instead of spending most of my annual budget on one or two potential 'home run' players. Many owners will only bid on one player but i bid on several. I'll also place multiple bids on the same player, but offering a different dropped player for each bid. Another way I'm opportunistic is by being at the computer when bids are opened. i often find the best things in life are free. Sometimes it seems that everyone is bidding on the same flavor of the week (this week it was Branden Oliver) and they entirely leave the second bests around to be taken for free (see team 4 where I gobbled up Ronnie Hillman after bids were opened) This week, in addition to my pick-ups, I decided to show what the top bid player in each league went for. Team 1 - Deep semi-dynasty PPR league with IR ($100 season budget): I only picked up Andre Roberts for a $3 bid, dropping the CLE D/ST. His 5 week target trend is 3-5-6-5-9. Meanwhile, Ronnie Hillman went for $81 against the $100/ season budget, while Tim Wright went for $35. Team 2 - Deep dynasty PPR plus return yardage league with developmental taxi squad plus IR squad ($1000 season budget). It only cost me $22 to pick up A Roberts in this league, while dropping Stephan Taylor. In addition, I acquired for free S Hauschka and developmental squad player RB Trey Watts, while dropping P Dawson and my previous devy squad pick-up Brian Tyms. T Wright went to someone else for $651 in this league. Team 3 is my deep standard scoring keep 10 keeper league with a $1000 annual budget: I scored Benny Cunningham for $66 and Storm Johnson for free, while dropping Darrin Reaves and Marcus Wheaton. Someone else got Branden Oliver for $575 of teher total budget. Finally, in Team 4, my 16 roster spot PPR keeper league, no bells or whistles with $1000 season budget, I hit paydirt. While others only had eyes for Oliver, I spent none of my money (as i didn't bid nearly high enough for Oliver), but I literally stole Ronnie Hillman, Mohamed Sanu, snd the NEP defense for free after bids were opened. i dropped Donald Brown, Jordan Mathews and the CLE D to make room.. Another owner stepped up and got Oliver for $250. And with AJ Green a likely multi-week injury, Sanu was just the frosting on the cake. BTW his targets were on the rise before AJ Green got hurt, with a 5 week trend of 5-4-8-8-9. So that was the extent of my activity this week. I've got good competing teams and healthy waiver bid balances in all of my leagues to spend for the rest of the season. Good luck to all this weekend.

I'm leaning on Starting Eli Manning over....

I'm very high on Eli for the rest of the year, but not particularly liking him this week. This is the week that the Giants pound the ball on the ground if they expect to stay with the Falcons. Atlanta is a much softer defense against the run than against the pass. So i have him as a low end QB1 / high end QB2 this week. FWIW, of all the guys mentioned above, the only one that I would start him over without question is Brady. Eli vs Romo would be just about a push, but I like Romo's upside slightly better.

Waiver pick-ups for week 5 - saving some waiver money

Thanks guys. I almost gave up fantasy football. With health, business and especially family issues, I wouldn't wish the year i had on anyone. I saw my cardiologist last week and he confirmed my heart was still beating. He even renewed his warranty on my heart for another year - despite the fact that my estranged wife thinks I'm really a heartless SOB.. So I guess I'll see you guys around here for a while longer.
  6. Here are prior weeks pick-ups beginning with week 3: wk 3 - http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=437244&hl=waiver wk 4 - http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=437753&hl=waiver Week 5 didn't require me to spend very many of my waiver bucks. Of course I only get about 70% of the players i actually bid on. Team 1 - Deep semi-dynasty PPR league with IR ($100 season budget): I acquired the CLE D/ST for all of $2, dropping Rod Streater. I would have re-acquired Streater for my IR spot, and drop M Lewis, but I was too slow.as another owner had the same idea i had, I made two free pick-ups after blind bids were finished, picking up L Murphy and kicker B McManus, while dropping Denarius Moore and M Bryant. Bryant has been disappointing of late and is a dome kicker who will be kicking into a pretty strong wind predicted for Sunday. You will see that I replaced him in all 4 of my leagues. I still have $77 left of my $100 budget. Team 2 - Deep dynasty PPR plus return yardage league with developmental taxi squad plus IR squad ($1000 season budget). Through bilnd bids, I acquired Clay Harbor for $26, dropping Charles Clay. Now that Harbor is the starter in Jacksonville, this decision was a question of comparative projected targets based on his anticipated role in that offense. I also paid $8 for Pat's WR Bryan Tyme, who just came off a 4 game suspension and based on his great pre-season I think he has a great future in the NFL. He'll be on my developmental squad replacing Kenbrell Thompkins. I also made three free pick-ups after blind bids were done, adding Phil Dawson, Louis Murphy and IR candidate Rod Streater, while dropping Matt Bryant, Andre Roberts as well as M Lewis from my IR. I've got $223 left of my season budget for this league. Team 3 is my deep standard scoring keep 10 keeper league with a $1000 annual budget: I made one successful blind bid move, picking up A Holmes for $43 while dropping N Paul who now is a spare part with my Jordan Cameron done with his bye and jJrdan Reed returning in Washington. i made the same Rod streater of Mercedes Lewis IR move that I made in my team 2 league, and also replaced kicker M Bryant for N Novak. I've got $369 left of my budget in this league. Finally, for Team 4, my 16 roster spot PPR keeper league, no bells or whistles with $1000 season budget:: I made only free agent picl-ups, adding Jerremy Hill and McManus while again dropping Niles Paul and Matt Bryant. I missed rallo's weekly Waiver Scoop and Play post this week but since there weren't very many injuries for a change and only Miami and Oakland on byes this week, it doesn't really matter too much. The free agent I most coveted but did not get was Eli Manning. I believe that Eli has finally mastered the new offense and will have a hell of a season the rest of the way. But in all of my leagues, i was too strong at the QB position to want to pay too much for another QB. Good luck to all this weekend and I'll be back at you next week.

    SF WR Stevie Johnson

I picked up and am playing Stevie with confidence this week. As for the rest of the year, much depends on Kaep, but Stevie will far our-stat Boldin as long as he stays healthy. That makes him a weak WR3 or flex play when needed for most weeks.

    Who is Steve Smith Jr.?

Hilarious UNTIL you look at his targets and stats. But I've watched most of the games and the guy still has all of the tools. He's the real deal, and getting all the Flacco love he needs to keep it up. Through the 1st 3 games, he's had 32 targets, 18 catches, 290 yds and one TD. Hilarious!

Waiver WR Scoop and play (Week 4 Installment 2014)

Jordan Matthews is a great play....much better than Boldin for the whole year. As a scoop and play, Stevie Johnson is a much better choice than Boldin. He was slow to learn the offense and get the timing down. On the other hand Anquon boldin is slow, period. here is the stat progression for both players for the 1st 3 weeks: Boldin wk 1.....9 targets, 8 catches, 99 yds wk 2.....6 targets, 2 catches, 34 yds wk 3.... 6 targets, 6 catches, 36 yds. Stevie J wk 1.....2 targets, 2 catches, 33 yds wk 2.....4 targets, 2 catches, 26 yds wk 3.....9 targets, 9 catches,103 yds. Of even more concern to Boldin owners is that Stevie is now operating more from the slot than Boldin is, and this is where Boldin had his only real value. I've dropped Boldin in all of the leagues where I had owned him.....and picked up stevie johnson as my scoop and play this week. Jus sayin'.
  10. My first installment of this was for Week 3 games. Here is the URL for anyone who is interested: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=437244&hl=waiver Week 4 pickups were mostly about WRs, and there were a lot of bargains. One reason I was able to acquire so cheaply this week is because a number of player (Miles austin, Brian Quick, CJ Anderson) were not in demand due to their week 4 byes. I take that into account when deciding how much to bid for a player. As I mentioned, all of my leagues are blind bid waiver systems with open FCFS immediately after. BTW,my definition of deep leagues is 12 team leagues with roster sizes of 20 or more offensive players. Team 1 - Deep semi-dynasty PPR league with IR ($100 season budget): I acquired Denarius Moore for $4. Eddie Royal for $2, Stevie Johnson and Rod Streater were free open FCFS pick-ups after blind bid waivers were opened. The reason i picked up Streater is to place him on IR when he becomes eligible and then drop M Lewis. I dropped Jonathan Grimes, Danny Woodward, Anquan Boldin and Andre Roberts to make room for these additions. Stevie is now getting more targets in the slot than Boldin, and i expect that to continue. See my stat trend comparison of these two players in rallo's scoop and play thread - http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=437585 Team 2 - Deep dynasty PPR plus return yardage league with developmental taxi squad plus IR squad ($1000 season budget) I acquired Miles Austin for $31 dropping Woodhead. For my 5 player Developmental squad, i picked up Austin Davis (for $41) and CAR RB Darrin Reaves for free, dropping NYG WR Corey Washington and DAL WR Devin Street. My other developmental squad players are MIA WR Jarvis Landry, HOU TE CJ Fiedorowicz and Kenbrell Thompkins Team 3: Deep standard scoring keep 10 keeper league with $1000 annual budget: I got Brian Quick for $53, Owen Daniels for $41. Denver RB CJ Anderson was free after waivers were opened. I dropped Jonathan Grimes, Jaquizz Rodgers and (again) Anquan Boldin. Team 4: 16 roster spot PPR keeper league, no bells or whistles with $1000 season budget:: I made only one add, spending $53 for Allen Robinson. My team is loaded here but I threw in a bid because i like him so much. i sure didn't expect to win the bid.at that price. Since I didn't want to lose any roster talent and this league allows me to play with an open position, I dropped my kicker, Matt Bryant. I can always pick up a kicker and figure out a position player drop before the late Sunday afternoon game if I don't have a big point lead over my opponent at that time. I don't think ill make any more moves before Sunday, but I'm never done making roster changes till gameday.

Waiver WR Scoop and play (Week 4 Installment 2014)

I'm glad this thread is a weekly event. I'll be posting my blind bid waiver pick-up thread this afternoon. But I've got two potential pick-up plug'n' plays that I'll focus more on later. Since this was the week of the WR adds, here are tow to whet your appetite:. 1. Stevie Johnson.- now getting more targets than Bolden and from the slot position, he should out-stat Bolden the rest of the way. With Vernon Davis probably not going to play, expect a big week 2. Denarius Moore - Streater is out for quite a while so Moore will be the beneficiary of significantly increased targets in an offense that should be playing from behind. Both of these guys are better plays in PPR. BTW, I did pick-up Allen Robinson in one league that he was available. I sure could not understand why he was available.

Waiver pick-ups for week 3 - some surprises and late adds

Yea, well my Lorenzo Tailaferro pick-up wasn't too shabby. Sure wish I had the balls to play him this week..

Waiver pick-ups for week 3 - some surprises and late adds

Great question. You may well be right, and I have no special love for Mercedes Lewis - he'll probably be cut somewhere down the line. But he cost me almost nothing to pick him up and put him on these two IR squads. If i keep him on IR til week 10, then who knows what the injury situation among TEs will be at that time. Since I had the IR openings and he was the best IR player available, he's on my squad for now. When healthy, he usually gets about 6 - 8 targets per game and they had planned on using him more this year, which could take him back to something between his 2010 and 2012 numbers. For those two years he averaged 55 catches, about 600 yards and 7 TDs. I've been fortunate so far to avoid the injury bug too badly, but my philosophy is to always keep my IR spots full with the best available candidate, and right now that is him.
  14. Playing in many different and mostly deeper leagues, I've always tried to be ahead of the curve with in-season pick-ups. All of my leagues are blind bid waiver systems with open FCFS immediately after. Here's what I came up with before week 3 games. I'm never done making roster changes till gameday. Team 1 - Deep dynasty PPR league with IR: Acquired M Lewis for $3. ($100 season budget). immediately placed on IR-dtr list), acquired Andre Roberts for $8, acquired Lorenzo Taliaferro RB Balt on open waivers. Team 2 - Deep semi-dynasty PPR plus return yardage league with developmental taxi squad plus IR squad ($1000 season budget) Acquired Cousins as my QB2 for $161, Owen Daniels for $151, Andre Roberts for $112, and Kenbrell Thompkins on open waivers for my developmental squad. BTW, I dropped Johnny Manziel from the developmental squad to make room for him Team 3: Deep standard scoring keep 10 keeper league with $1000 annual budget: Acquired M Lewis for $13 and placed him on my IR squad;, acquired Jaquizz Rodgers on open FCFS waivers. Team 4: 16 roster spot PPR keeper league, no bells or whistles with $1000 season budget:: Spent heavily in this league this week, adding Niles Paul for $252 and Donald Brown for $173. No guarantee that I'll keep this up, but at least I'm baaack! Many thanks to my friends here who know about my personal situation and blessed me with thier prayers and encouragement. ; : :
