If you invested 100 dollars in Bitcoin 7 years ago

Recommended Posts

On May 22, 2010 a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz used 10,000 bitcoin to pay for two pizzas. At the time, he believed the coins he had mined were worth around 0.003 cents each. The pizzas cost $30 then. However, they would now cost $22.5 million at current bitcoin prices.

Only if someone would pay you 72mil for them.

Eggzactly.

Bitcoin wasn't created to be another form of paper currency, that lived along side it (ie gold backed, credit and debit, wire transfers, blah blah). It was created to be an entire replacement of the "outdated" system. It's apples and oranges.

Which is why I decided not to invest in it. It's not really a countries currency. Plus there's quite a few secure ways to pay with your own currency online. I just didn't see it taking off like it has. But even if you did invest and have that much that's worth a lot are you even able to get that much money for it? Hell, could you even get a million for it? If you can't get actual money for it then what can you use it on? Dark web, black market stuff?

It, or something like it, will be a good long term investment.

The notion of the sovereign nation state is a somewhat outdated concept, particularly economically. As the internet continues to grow, and the world becomes ever more connected, there will be a demand for a secure online currency not controlled by a nation state.

While true, I just didn't feel like an internet currency would actually take off when you would be able to still pay with your own currency. If the internet started requiring bitcoin for purchases then yea I would say it's a good idea. But I haven't seen anywhere that you can pay with bitcoin. Usually PayPal or your own credit card. That was really why I never invested.

Sure. Now. Wait until, say, the US dollar sh!s the bed and takes the global economy down.

Japan and soon to follow China will recognize Bitcoin as a national currency

Can't believe scammers have made this much off of made up fake internet currency. It's the Scientology of money and I could have been rich if I didn't laugh at it when it started. Of course.

You clearly know nothing about how any of this works.

Ethereum (not so much Bitcoin) is the future. I invested a few grand into Ethereum at the beginning of this year when it was around $10 an ETH. Last night it was over 180. I have 225 of them. My first major grand slam. I messaged mmmmm...beer about it and told him he should invest, hope he did.

But anyways, you should look into Ethereum, you'll see that it isn't a "scam"

It's such a huge scam Germany is using this blockchain on all their charging stations.

And an exchange would be willing to give you about 100$ for them.

Only if someone would pay you 72mil for them.

So they are basically like baseball cards?

To lazy to read the rest of the thread, but you can sell your Bitcoin/Ethereum/Litecoin whenever you want just as you could stocks or any other currency.

Seems easy enough so long as there is a buyer on the other end of the deal.

yah I wish I would have gotten Ethereum as well

I think only one will end up winning and Bitcoin seems to have a huge lead, with Japan and China on board its sky rocketing

Trust me Bitcoin is basically proof of concept and Ethereum will take over. You probably feel like you missed out, but CryptoCurrencies aren't even 10 years old yet. It is still in its efficiency. There is no reason one ETH or BTC couldn't be worth more than 1 million dollars. They set it up expecting it to be that large.

Download CoinBase today and you should invest as much as you possibly can, I truly believe it will be over $2,000 by the end of summer.

The real money is in making sites where suckers can buy made up fake space currency using actual money. Those are the people who will get rich.

Its such a big scam Fidelity is starting to buy and mine Bitcoin, I think you may be on to something.

When you say "actual" money are you talking about the USD, another fiat currency or gold and silver?

Bitcoin is worth over 35 billion dollars and Ethereum I believe is around 15 billion. Do you think this many smart people were fooled or do you think perhaps you may be the fool when it comes to this?

So glad I started investing in CC's a few years ago. It is my generations dot com boom and I got in early. If it keeps going this way I will be retired in 5 years. Real talk.

The main issue with bitcoin/blockchains are they're 1) very volatile and 2) held largely by Chinese (and other communist countries) firms, as a way to get around the government restrictions on international capital movement. Point 2 is also why bitcoin is surging so much lately.

All of that aside, I do see some sort of blockchain currency being the future, as it will be a common ledger that everybody has access to.
