Jalapeno Poppers

Remember Gorgonzola Gems? I like those, but they are kinda meh after awhile. Most Jalapeno poppers you find come with cream cheese. Don't like those. Original poppers had cheddar. So, I picked up some Fridays, Cheddar stuffed poppers. Cooking half the batch now.

 

8 oz is gonna give you about 12 poppers. So, this is the nutritional info for about 4:

 

190 calories

9g of fat, 3 of that saturated

10 mg cholesterol

560 mg sodium

21g carbs

5 g protein

 

Not exactly nutritious but ... they sure do taste good dipped in ranch dressing.

Nothing you eat that is frozen and processed and you post about is actually nutritious.

Fat and lazy...just another way you can be a burden to society.

I don't like poppers for 2 reasons:

 

1. The cheese inside is usually blazing freaking hot after they come out of the fryer.

 

2. Poppers have the same problem as onion rings where the breaking sloughs off and you end up eating the entire onion or jalapeño in one bite.

Love me some bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers. :wub:

 

I slice them length wise, fill each half with cream cheese, wrap a half slice of bacon around each pepper half, toothpick em and put them on a griddle on the grill @ 400 for about 10-15 minutes. :thumbsup:

wouldn't that make the cream cheese melt into soup? Im sure it tastes good tho.

Not really. It does soften up some but the bacon keeps it in place. It returns to a more solid state as they cool. You don't want to pop them in your mouth right from the grill.

Add a small slice of chorizo before you wrap them with the bacon. Doesn't get much better than that.

Jpoppers are awesome and any talk otherwise deserves a whipping.

This. Even 'bad' poppers are usually pretty good.

I like jalapeños. I like cheese and fried stuff. I like appetizers. For some reason I just don't like poppers. :dunno:

I like cream cheese peno poppers. Dip in Blue Cheese or Hot Sauce if you want.

I was at a bar one night and two chicks were sitting next to me sharing appetizers with each other. One of them grabbed a jalapeno popper and it was a big one. She and her friend were talking about it and then she leaned over to me and asked me I had ever seen a popper that big. I said "Not since Blues Traveler was in town". It went right over both their heads, but the bartender laughed.

Love poppers, but not a fan of cream cheese ones. I use Monterey Jack in the ones I make.
