I love how everyone seems to be falling in love with Kendall Hunter, based on his long touchdown against the Raiders scrubs in a preseason game. Go ahead and waste a draft pick on him. For him to get serious playing time, not only would Gore have to get hurt, but he'd also have to beat out Anthony Dixon (who averaged 4.4 ypc against the Raiders' first team). Both Dixon and Hunter will get some carries as the 49ers try to preserve their franchise back. But don't get carried away. The kid does know how to pass block, though: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/08/21/SPO41KQ2T0.DTL&type=49ers

Sidney Rice. Skill set + Opportunity.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a UCLA homer. But I drafted Jones-Drew in all three of my leagues -- while other people were crapping their pants over when to take Reggie Bush, or crying in their beer if they didn't get him. Let's go to the big board, shall we? Maurice Drew-Jones: 33 carries, 177 yards (5.4 ypc), 2 TD, 0 fumble 9 receptions, 91 yards (10.1 ypr), 2 TD, 0 fumbles 10 KO returns, 253 yards, 0 TD (only a matter of time before he takes one back -- he returned six kicks for TDs in college) What's His Face: 54 carries, 170 yards (3.1 ypc), 0 TD, 1 fumble lost 34 receptions, 250 yards (7.4 ypr), 0 TD, 0 fumbles 12 punt returns, 132 yards, 1 TD What's His Face had 11 punt returns for 67 yards and 0 TD before the TD return everyone is so excited about. Basically, he ain't done diddly squat prior to that return, and is still 3 TD behind Maurice Drew-Jones. BTW, McAllister has a 4.8 ypc average, compared to Bush's 3.1. Jacksonville's other back, Taylor, is averaging 4.0 ypc, compared to Maurice Drew-Jones' 5.4. Yeah, yeah... I know, I know... "It's a marathon, not a sprint." But let me gloat a little, anyway. I think you mean George Bush, not Reggie Bush.

Saying Republicans are better drafters -- before the NFL regular season has even started -- is kinda like like proclaiming "Mission Accomplished" in a carrier-deck photo op when a long, difficult war is only just beginning. Leave the politics to another forum, please. In this partisan day and age, let's keep football a place where people of all stripes can be fans together.

Greg Jones is done for the year. Maurice Jones-Drew moving up
-
Here's one factor you can't ignore: Greg Jones is done for the year. (Glad I snagged Maurice Drew in all my leagues)

Both have an excellent chance of starting, based on the injury-prone RBs ahead of them (Greg Jones was just hurt yesterday). I actually like Morency way better than Lundy, though. Tonight's game will go a long way to determing who will be the #2 or #3 behind Davis. I have Jones-Drew on two of my money teams, but I waited until late in the draft to take him. I should point out that both leagues are keeper leagues (I like Jones-Drew's long-term potential), and both leagues use a Kick Returner position (which means I can stick him in my lineup right away).

Based on my calculations (with insider info forwarded to me by the great Sal "Captain Lou" Albano) that Evans is due for a 4,500-yard, 83 touchdown season.
