NFL Mock Draft - Version 2.0

Recommended Posts

1. I don't see NYG taking a Guard at 2. Minus a trade, I see them taking Rosen.

2. As much as I would love to see Dallas take a DT, I fear they take Ridley.. Even with the new addition of Hurns - this staff is stupid enuff to do it.

3. Dallas has 10 picks in the bank.. If Derwin James falls past 10, I would not be shocked to see Jerry trade up to get him...... and I'm totally okay with it if they do.

Without predicting trades I understand the free fall of QBs in this mock, but I'd be shocked if the Cardinals land Allen at 15. I'll never understand why QBs always magically ascend draft boards, when they haven't played a game in four months, but it always happens.

Completely agree on #1. None of the OL prospects warrant being picked this high. If they are going OL, they'll trade down to do it and the 2nd pick will be one of the QB's.

Also, if one of the top 4 QB are available at Denver's pick I would almost expect them to go QB here, especially if they are okay with it being Mayfield.

I agree. I see QB going 1 - 2 - 3. You know the Jets and Browns are going QB. The Giants could, but if they don't, I'm pretty sure the Bills or Cards would move up into that spot. I could also see Denver going QB with their pick, making 4 of the first 5 picks QB.

If the Giants take a guard there will be fireworks. And not the good kind. The fans want a QB, Barkley or Chubb. If they trade back and get the guard fine. Not at 2.

Of course left tackle is traditionally the position of worth on the oline.

But Nelson is one of the safest prospects in a while. Said to be the best guard prospect in maybe a decade. He is a day one starter and potential pro bowler right out of the gate.

Not saying they would do that. But Nelson is basically a top 10 lock and wouldn't be surprised if he goes 4th or 5th.

I've read that too, that he's as good a prospect as Scherff whom the Redskins took at #5 overall, but I've only seen one mock draft that has him going as high as 5 to Denver and I've seen a couple with him outside the top 10. The consensus seems to have him going to the Bears at 8. I suppose if the Giants are set on going OL in round 1, this would make more sense than trading back and taking another OT (McGlinchy) as they just signed Solder and will probably move Flowers to RT.

I could see the Colts at 6 taking him. If he makes it 9 I could see the 9ers as now they have Suh and Donald to go up against twice.

Have seen a lot of mocks with him to Denver. If they dont go QB and dont trade out I could see that.

Not sure the Browns need there. But draft a plug in beast to help protect Sam Darnold would make sense for them at 4.

This is Justin's update after the first wave of free agency and trades, which has certainly had an impact on the draft.

NFL Mock Draft - Version 2.0

We'll do 3.0 in a couple weeks.

Quick reactions:

- Giants can go several ways at No. 2, don't think a guard is one of them

- Agree there is a chance Barkley lasts until 7, and he's a great fit for TB

- Miami passing on Baker Mayfield would cause an uproar by Dolphins fans

- Titans landing Landry would be ideal

- Patriots selecting Lamar Jackson would be the most Patriots thing ever

We just finished our first version of a 1st-rd mock; here if you'd like to take a peak

There is zero chance the titans take a fourth CB in the first round.

They have Ryan, Jackson, and now Butler, thats just not gonna happen. They are happy enough with Simms in the 4th CB slot.

If the Giants won't trade down to the Bills spot, it's:

1. Browns - S,Darnold

2. Giants - B.Chubb

3. Jets - B.Mayfield

4. Browns - M.Fitzpatrick

5. Broncos - J.Rosen

6. Colts - Q.Nelson

7. Bucs - S.Barkley

8. Bears - LB or DB? or trade down and Josh Allen goes here (Bills? Cards? Other?)

If the Giants collect, the draft starts at pick 4:

1. Browns - S.Darnold

2. Bills - J.Rosen

3. Jets - B.Mayfield

4. Browns - B.Chubb? M.Fitzpatrick? or S.Barkley wasting the C.Hyde signing?

5. Broncos - Q.Nelson? S.Barkley? M.Fitzpatrick?

6. Colts - Q.Nelson? S.Barkley? M.Fitzpatrick?

7. Bucs - Q.Nelson? S.Barkley? M.Fitzpatrick?

Reports from NYG say that they won't take a QB unless Darnold is there. Cleveland seems locked in on Darnold that would appear to exclude NYG from the QB discussion of any of that is true. I still think NYG trades out of the spot if that's the case.

1) CLE - Darnold

2) BUF - Allen/Rosen (Zona could also make a play for this spot)

3) Jets - Rosen/Allen

4) Browns - If they stay here it's Chubb or Fitzpatrick. The have more need in the secondary but Chubb is probably the higher rated player. They could trade back and go with one of the OT's later in round 1 assuming someone wants to come up and grab Mayfield or Barkley. For this exercise I'll assume it's Chubb to CLE. I don't think they go Barkley after the Hyde signing.

5) Broncos - Mayfield I think if one of the top 4 QB's is an options here, they'll go with it, but they also could really use Barkley. They could also use an interior OL so potentially Nelson, but if Barkley /Mayfield are here I think it's one of those two and would lean toward the QB as the RB class is deep in this draft.

6) Colts - Edwards / Fitzpatrick. They've got so many holes that they could potentially trade back again if someone is desperate to grab Barkley/Mayfield (Arizona if Mayfield is still here).

7) Bucs - If Barkley is still here, I think he's the pick.

8) Bears - Every thing I've seen says the Bears go OG Nelson here, unless he goes to Denver at 5 or NYG at 2 which I don't think is likely.

If the Bears have Nelson available and pass on him, there is no reason they should ever win again.
