UPDATE: Ezekiel Elliot saga continues - Suspension back on

Recommended Posts

As I understand it, it's unclear but likely that he plays. Once this court rules, that's pretty much it. And the hearing isn't until Thursday. But that doesn't mean that they might not have a ruling before Sunday. Just not likely.

Nobody knows if he's available Week 10. Anything that anyone states otherwise is speculation.

Your comment about the speculation of others is speculation.

Zeke's team gets a bit of good news - they will avoid Judge Denny Chinn......... Judge Chinn is one of the judges who voted against Brady, has a history of supporting the authority of CBAs.

The initial messenger in said thread has yet to prove their statement, therefore making it irrelevant and purely speculation. I'll rest.

Will the stay was granted last week. He'll play this week since hearings won't happen until Thursday.

Let's face it fellas...most got him in the 2nd round and he's been an absolute steal. Currently he's 2nd in my league behind Gurley.

The Ezekiel Elliott Saga...the most unwanted continuing series since the Transformers movies.

Marky Mark is gonna play Elliott in the movie too.

I thought a suspension decision had to be finalized by Tuesday of the week for it to hold up. Since this won't be finalized by then, I'd say he can expect to play this weekend. After that, I believe he'll serve a 6 game suspension.

He should play this week. He won't serve a suspension unless the court upholds it which will begin hearing the facts of the case on Thursday and make a decision.

Technically, Elliott is suspended right now, but the court granted a stay in the start of the suspension pending his appeal. If they come back on Thursday/Friday and deny the appeal it's very likely he could be suspended right then and there, since the NFL has already technically announced it. But, since I traded for him to see if I could make a run in the playoffs, well, it's very likely he gets suspended for all the FF playoffs as a result.

This would be the worst possible time to get suspended for FF. That could only means, yup, FF god will probably make it happens.

From Andrew Brandt...

That was fast: 2nd Circuit has denied Elliott's request to have suspension continue to be lifted. Suspension is back on. As predicted, once case got to appellate court, NFL in good shape with precedent.

Bad news for Zeke.

His Emergency Injunction was denied - suspension back on..... When it starts, still undetermined.

Starts immediately.

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals has denied Ezekiel Elliott's motion for an injunction, immediately reinstating his six-game suspension.

Elliott has been "granted an expedited appeal of the larger case." His official appeal is still pending, but he's run out of legal maneuvers that would allow him to play while the Second Circuit considers his case. He is well and truly suspended for Week 10, and is eligible to return in Week 16 against the Seahawks. Alfred Morris will start and lead a committee against the Falcons. Rod Smith is expected to be the next man up, with Darren McFadden third. It's possible all three get a chance to establish the "hot hand."

Sux for Zeke, but sooner the better I say - might as well get it over with.

ok, once again if you don't have Alfred Morris do you go Rod Smith or McFadden?

I don't see why you wouldn't go in order that the team has said they'll play.

Bcoz DMC is the overall better back.. In addition to having a gear Morris doesn't have, DMC is a far superior blocker and pass catcher too.

But it is Red making the call - so I would not be surprised to see him try and feature Morris.

I've heard so many different things, why has McFadden been inactive....Rod Smith has the upside though

I still think they've kept him out as insurance, a contingency plan......... With Morris and Rod already on roster, really no need to have 4 backs active every week.

So is it final final? As in, he is definitely suspended for the next 6 games, beginning with this SUN game versus ATL? Or, is there any chance it gets postponed or reduced or anything?

I doubt Garrett is making the call.

I doubt Garrett is making the call.

I think people way over estimate Jerry's influence on in-game calls........ I think he absolutely is, which part of the problem.
