Ok, after reading NIkki's 'ask me anything' thread, I thought it might be fun to have a thread featuring a different Geek every few days. A few people sounded interested, so we'll give it a shot.

 

A few guidelines (I don't like to say "rules" because each member can handle it the way he sees fit. This isn't high school)

 

1. So that we don't have ten different 'ask me anything' threads dominating page one of the forum, perhaps we should wait until the current thread seems to have fallen off, and stayed off, of page one. Usually these kind of things get a lot of action for a day or two and then tail off. That's when the next in line should go.

 

2. This thread would be a good one to volunteer to have the next thread. I'll make a list with an order so it's not total chaos.

 

3. If you're going to volunteer to do this, try to give honest answers. Obviously, you're not under oath, and there's nothing wrong with offering up some comedic relief, but there's not much point to doing this if you're not going to answer the questions people are asking you. Some questions may get really personal and there's no sin in simply replying that yopu'd rather not get in to that. But the main point is to share your thoughts and opinions and give a glimpse into your real lives, instead of the characters a lot of us play online.

 

Ok, first up is Cyclone24, our resident Iowa native.

Cyclone, start the thread whenever you're ready. To have a standardized thread title to these, use the topic title "Cyclone 24: Ask me anything". Make sure to keep your member name in the main thread totle and not on the biline, for those who use their smartphones.

Hopefully not. I certainly won't. I added you to teh list. I believe you're fifth. You talked about 'the rigth questions'. You should go into some of the threads before you and ask the ones you think are interesting. I'm sure there will be a ton of repeat questions each thread.

You're totally right, Nikki. If a question pertains to something you're not comfortable in sharing, then you have no obligation to talk about it. This is just for fun, it's not an inquisition.

If you need more volunteers, I'd do it. Also, a suggestion. Perhaps the thread can be started with the subject answering maybe 10 of the most common questions. Age, Marital Status, Location etc etc? Or will that ruin the free form format?

That might be something to consider if this actually lasts a while. Cyclone24's thread is going great. LOts of awesome questions and honest answers.
