CNN has flown the coop

Recommended Posts

Holee fock.. go look at it once... its absolutley MSCNN now.

I used to use them as sort of a semi moderate news source... they weren't quite MCNBC and of course not Fox.. but sheeeeaat. It's focking terrible.

Not one moderate story. All just blatantly slanted far left. The top 3 stories are all about Pelosi for focks sakes

Time to ignore them completely I guess.

It's sad because it seems we have no middle ground news anymore. :( I'm not always a Fox guy either... but there is no alternative.

The problem is that nobody simply reports the news nowadays like they used to do.

That basically means you want your news with a heavy conservative slant. No problem with that. Just realiz that people who like conservative viewpoints, tend to think anything that is not conservative is far-left. Fox News lovers can't name one middle of the road Network. Because in their eyes, you need to agree with the conservative views or you are the enemy

Yeah, it has become pretty bad lately, but it was never all that great with its constant race baiting and such.....I have avoided it for weeks now as its just drivel for the most part.

Thanks for thinking for me Newbs, but I'm alright... and that's, you know, like your opinion man.

BBC can actually understand and report the concept that more than one newsworthy event can occur in the world simultaneously.

My biggest problem right now with CNN actually started during the election.

"Let's get six people - 3 on each side - and have them talk over each other

until the next commercial break."

I hate that shiit. I hate it on SportsNets, I hate it in person, I hate it across the board.

I don't need or want to hear LaSawdra's opinion or how much she doesn't like the

old white guy sitting across from her.

Just report the focking facts and I'll form my own opinions.

That IS the problem. Or if they do it's not unbiased news. Facts have flown out the window with today's journalism. It's like people forgot the news were supposed to be an unbiased source of news. Their education about the news being unbiased was completely forgotten. Now they just say what they think and report it as news. No facts needed. Just opinions

Newbie posts this stuff because he remembers my thread from several years ago where I proved that CNN was leftist, but he wants to pretend it isn't.

I'm actually impressed with his ability to post bullshiot in the face of reality.

I will continue to switch between CNN, MSNBC and FOX while eating dinner in my bed.

My main problem with Fox is currently Hannity. and Tucker Carlson. Both annoying as fuk. Not quite as bad as Maddow, but still annoying.

Anderson Cooper is watchable to me for the most part, but my all time favorite was when Gutfeld was the host of The Five

That pint sized shithead was hillarious. Still is, but the vibe seems different since he got his new show

Most "journalists" have no idea that they are biased and most lefties don't know the difference. Every "news" station was reporting about "unsubstantiated claims" a week ago, none knew they were editorializing because most reporters are stupid.

I'll argue all day long that the USA Today is not down the middle. They are definitely left leaning and more so with our current

President.

CNN has become more left since Trump emerged also. Having a president who is trying to control the media tends to do that.

I think CNN is a far cry from absolute partisan networks like Fox and MSNBC. But I think it reflects the country in general. Of course it's going to be somewhat anti-trump. Trump is anti media, specifically anti CNN. There are times I think CNN has that blowhard Kingston dude on way too much. While I agree that the majority of their anchors hate Trump, they have 10 times more conservative guests and viewpoints than Fox has on the liberal side.

I saw some study recently that shows a number of media outlets on a bar graph based on a large sampling of stories Maybe I'll search for it later...CNN sat just a hair left of center, whereas MSNBC and FOX were far left and right (Not that I'm breaking any news with that).... In short, if you want something resembling a legit viewpoint, CNN is your best bet. If you simply want your opinions confirmed, go to MSNBC or FOX.

In terms of labeling CNN...You said it yourself, you considered them a "semi-moderate news source". Of course the far left was going to freak out about this stuff, and of course the far right was going to love every bit of it. Well, maybe consider the possibility that moderates really have serious issues and concerns with what is going on right now, and maybe ask yourself what that may mean. If the center is moving away from you and moving away from you, at least ask the question "So are even more people biased than I thought, or is it possible I'm wrong about some things?"

I obviously believe Donald Trump is extremely dangerous to American values, so maybe I'm biased and wrong on this, but I predict FOX is even going to slowly move away from him as things progress. Megyn Kelly was a hint of foreshadowing. And now Shepard Smith is an even more relevant harbinger of where I see things heading. He already went on the air to take CNNs side against Trump on the whole "You're Fake News!" story and now he is blasting this ban. If that happens, I'm afraid a certain group will say "Wow, even FOX is biased against him now" and refuse to examine further.

We should appreciate the fact that the press dedicates people and resources to essentially living in that world so that we can be provided information. We love to rag on them, but without them we become essentially powerless very quickly......Should we believe the press blindly? No. Should we dismiss them blindly? That's even more dangerous than believing them blindly.

And for what it's worth, I need to continue to examine as well. And I do spend a good amount of energy trying to see things from the other side and determine what I may be missing. The best example I can give is I evolved from pro-choice to pro-life in recent years. It didn't happen overnight, but I just keep thinking about it and ended up there....Frabjly this whole Trump phenomena has me thinking very hard about ways in which I may be out of touch with so many. I haven't figured it out yet, but I'm trying.

I just went to Fox - the headline story, top of the page:

SUPREME COURT SKIRMISH

Dems go ballistic, Republicans eye nuclear option over Gorsuch choice

with a split pix of Gorsuch and Pelosi. :dunno:

People don't want the news to "tell it straight." They want an echo chamber that reinforces what they already believe. That, or they want he said / she said style reporting that appears to be unbiased by giving equal time to two positions even when one is patently absurd and easily disproven. Or what they want to do is denigrate mainstream news sources so we start to see traditional journalism on the same plane as partisan rumor blogs.

The media can't win.

CNN still leans left...as it has.

Will they push further? Doubtful...it will seem that way to some as they will push back against Trump and his attacks on their network. Though...opposing Trump does not make someone liberal or far left (something people still don't seem to get).

Is there an opportunity for a network to start telling it straight and just reporting news instead of trying to make news?

I think it would be a tough job these days.

A couple of examples:

1) When Trump said: "I know a lot about hacking. I know something no one else knows about hacking, and I'll tell you guys next Tuesday or Wednesday".

- What do you do when he DOESN'T?

If you call him on it, his fans will biitch and moan that you're a libruhl mag (hell, his fans? HE will B&M)

If you DON'T call him on it, his opponents will accuse you of "rolling over". - can't win.

2) When Trump on Saturday references a Muslim Ban, when his whole campaign was "Muslim Ban" -

Then on Monday, Spicer exhorts you (media) for calling it a "ban" - what do you do?

a) Hey dude - your OWN GUY said that 46 hours ago! or:

B) Oh, Okay, doo-doo-doo-dod.

- And you're back to example number one.

Works on both sides too.

Dunno if you guys rememeber the Azizibad Air Strike. We (military and WH) said it was successful and only bad guys got hurt.

If it weren't for the press, we wouldn't know we killed over 90 civilians - including over 60 kids.

- Are you an Obama basher - or a truth seeker?

The reality is, both sides are 'snowflakes' these days. Nobody wants to hear bad news about 'their side' these days.

It's like I've posted before, it's OKAY to accept that there are some F ups on either side, doesn't change your own personal self-worth. But as it stands now - on both a micro- and macro - level, it's a zero-sum game.

It's great to say "wouldn't it be great if 'they' just reported 'the news' - but the news too often comes out of the mouths of people with an agenda - a reason to lie, deny or obfuscate (see airstrike example above).
