J Matthews.

I think he could be a good fit.

M Wallace.

I keep reading that Jeffery might not return by week 1, or atleast there is no certainty, he might be a good fit for Wentz.

Hurns with the Cowboys, I mean someone will be their wr1.

Great question.

Thanks.

Ps OP, what do you think about A Robinson with the Bears?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I ask that question about Robinson because I’m not so sure how he will respond.

I’m not sold that he will rebound and put up numbers from 2015.

I think he will more like 2016.

Thanks.

I've been trying to grab Arob for a couple years now, and can't do it. I don't think his value ever even fell any, at least from my personal experience.

Jordan Matthews I think is a really good one.
Jaron Brown in Seattle I think will surprise people.

I don’t know much about Ja Brown, speed guy? Or more of a postion type?

I read that too. I'm hoping they're just doing their due diligence and updating there roledex. I think he's done, and want no part of him.
As far as Brown. He had a pretty decent season last year. More of just a solid all around type reciever to me. Not a speedster, but young, good hands, solid route running, willing blocker down field.
You can probably get him for a bag of nothing right now.
I just really liked the fact that Seattle already knew about him from playing Arizona twice a year. Then they lose Richardson and Graham as pass catching options. And he was the only guy they brought in, and didn't draft anyone either.
I'll keep you updated on him once camp rolls around.

I was thinking that too. Maybe like a Delanie Walker also. Guys who have value, but maybe the owner just wants to get anything they can for them, rather then just let them retire in a year or two, and you have nothing.

But that really depends on the owners. I'm a Fitzy owner, and in my ppr league we start 4 wr's. I would have to get value for him in a deal. If not, I'll be fine letting him retire eventually on my team.
His production is just to good not too.

When all is said and done, I'm leaning Fitzgerald as the greatest of all time at his position.

Fun fact:
Having played in 214 total regular season games, Fitzgerald's receptions per game averages out to be 5.6 for his career. However, his receptions per game over the last three seasons have spiked significantly, as he has averaged 6.8 per game since 2015.

I'm in on Jauron Brown. Good size/speed, blocks well, good feel to sit tight or come back if russ is in trouble. Dirt cheap as well.

In on Frank Gore too. Better in pass pro than Drake. The ironman goes home to FL and goes out w another 1k season.

Dart throw deep sleeper at TE: Old man Ben Watson. Take him with your last pick and chuckle when he wins a game or two for you.

I think Gore will still be running for a thousand yards per season when this year's crop of rookies turn old and gray. This guy has had 3,226 rushing attempts and 443 receptions in his NFL career alone. It's mind boggling he can still walk upright. 4.3 yards per rush average over 13 seasons. I think he only missed 12 games in 13 years. My favorite player Walter Payton played 13 years, and Gore is a little bit shy of his numbers, but not by much. First ballot hall of fame for Gore. It is so cool to see Gore and Fitzgerald be so good still.

I don’t see why so many like Gore going into next season.

The legs won’t be there.

When the Dolphins picked him up, my value on Drake went up some.

I thought the dolphins would have gone after C Anderson, but when they passed on him and sign Gore that just about guarantees that Drake will be a good rb2.

I used to work for University of Miami and my old boss was the trainer during the Dorsey/Gore years. I think it was junior year Gore tore his ACL. He never came to do much rehab and had a 30 deg flexor contracture of his knee. He said to my old boss when he was mind blown and expressing concern nah dawg Im all good hopped off the table and never went back. That was 15 years ago. Blows my mind every time I think about it. That guys an animal.

I dont think Gore is a guy I would buy into unless I got him in the last round of a draft or as an undrafted waiver wire pickup.

He's been on borrowed time and I think the end has come for him.

I'll let someone else take a chance on him.   He's not for my team unless he can be had for super cheap.

Agreed.

He’s done.

And since the Dolphins didn’t go after someone else, I like Drake even more so now after the drat and free agent signings.

The Dolphins did not bring Gore in to sit on the bench and watch Drake. Gore is a much better pass blocker than Drake, and with the need to keep Tannehill safe I would not be surprised if Gore's numbers were better than Drake, and Gore can likely be had several rounds later. Gore will likely be ranked in the 12th round or later.

There is no way Gore will post better ff numbers then Drake, unless Drake gets hurt.

Gore is a back up and I think is there for leadership and his ability too do what you said Block.

Neither one of those reasons will be any reason too even believe for one moment he will out produce Drake.

Thanks.

I respect what Gore has been able to accomplish in his career, but hes now 35 years old.

I really dont think its reasonable to expect him to put up 1000 yards.

year before last he was the first RB to rush for over 1000 yards at the age of 33 or older since John Riggins did in 1984.

Last year he ran for 900+ yards.  still a solid performance, but you can only go to the well so many times before the well runs dry.

He may start the year as the starting RB, but I'd be very surprised if he finished the year as the Starter.

because of where he projects on the depth chart, he should be rostered, but hes not a player you should pay full market value on.   You go on the assumption he will start 1/2 to 2/3 of the year and then lose his job or get injured. (possibly both) and apply the relevant discount.

Not many players make it past the age of 30 as a starting RB.  Betting on a player(starter or not) at the age of 35 makes no sense to me unless you are spending a late round pick or waiver wire pickup to get him.

To me a 12th round pick is a late pick like I said.  True not many players make it past the age of 30 as a starting RB.  Frank Gore is the proven exception to that rule.  For the last seven years the man has started in EVERY game, he has at least 255 carries every season, and at least 961 yards.

How many of you reading this know that Adam Gase was a 49er coach with Gore in 2008?

I’m sure Gase also knows it’s not 2008.

And Gore is old.

And he won’t out produce his best rb Drake.

2018 Gore isn’t the same Gore he was in 2008, and I hope for Dolphins fans that Gase indeed knows that.

When all is said and done, I'm leaning Fitzgerald as the greatest of all time at his position.

When you factor In the whole joe Montana and Steve young versus the clown show Fitzgerald has played with most of his career, there is an argument to be made.

But then also compare the era. Many wrs are putting up crazy numbers now, yet still no one is close to Jerry Rice's numbers.

How many years did Rice play? 21 or something like that? That's just crazy. Not sure Fitz will make it that far. Unless Arizona started to actually compete. It shows he was a one man show until Johnson came to town. Now that teams have one other good player to account for, Fitzgerald's numbers are are going up. Catch % in the upper 60s and 70s and yards per catch as well. He is as good now as ever.

I don’t see why so many like Gore going into next season.

Because the title of this thread is:

Who are some cheaper Veterans you are looking to acquire for depth?

I think it has to do with VBD drafting more than anything else. Personally, I would suggest staying away from both Miami backs this year. I think that team is gonna be a flat out dumpster fire this year.
However, if you take a chance on 1 of them. Do you grab Drake in rounds 3 or 4, (where I've seen him going). Or do you grab Gore in rounds 13 or 14, (where I've seen him go).

Because of the thread title. I'd take Gore everytime myself in this scenario.
I guess it really comes down to your faith on Drake being THE man or not.

I think Drake is worthy of his adp.

I think Gore wasn’t brought in too challenge Drake for the rb1 spot.

But for a true back up role, so I don’t see any sign of a RBBC and for leadership on a team that has lacked leadership for some time.

But I would agree, it all comes down too ones view of Drake.

I see don’t see Gore out producing Drake as was posted earlier.

Thanks for the reply, always a pleasure.

Biggest threat to Ginns job is Trequan Smith. That guy is a real quality deep threat with the largest catch radius of any WR drafted in this years class
