Denard Robinson

Recommended Posts

Thinking about dropping Justin Hunter for him, but not sure with Jake Locker possibly coming back this week. I need a RB next week and Denard Might be able to fill that void, where as Hunter probably won't start for me ever. He's WR5 until Gordon comes back, then he's WR6. Want to trade him rather than drop, but Denard will be gone soon and no one really wants hunter.

I think he's is about to put up consistent RB2 or 3 numbers.

I've been a skeptic, but he has beefed up and the last two weeks he doesn't look like a hybrid/scatback taking some handoffs. Kid looks like a RB, and he and Bortles seem to click.

Isn't he bigger than Charles?

Edit: 3 inches shorter at 5'10" but still 200lbs. The guy is in the same neighborhood as plenty of other every down RBs.

These are also combine numbers so the guy could have and must likely did lose weight to increase his 40 time.

I added him mainly because Yahoo has him as a RB/WR. If I could get RB2 numbers from my WR3 I would be thrilled. He was an amazing talent to watch at Michigan. You knew he'd never make it as an NFL QB but at the same time you knew he'd help a team in one way or another.

ESPN's Michael DiRocco believes the Jaguars could have "found their running back of the future" in Denard Robinson.

"It may be the Denard Robinson show going forward," DiRocco said. "The Jaguars are going to limit his workload in the 15-20 carry range…but I think the main job is going to be Robinson's." Toby Gerhart resumed practicing Wednesday, and could return this week in a complementary role. Robinson has long-term upside, but will be just an RB3/FLEX in Week 8 against Miami.

Bad OL and don't forget, he ran well against a bad rushing defense in Cleveland. Be cautious.

Go get him if you can. He just costs you the last player on your bench and you'll be a lot wiser on Monday with what you have. It's better for him to be on your roster rather than seeing any other guy in the league dropping his worst player to pick him up.

Suppose he stinks up the place: no loss, cut him. Suppose he plays well.

He's lightning fast, but wondering what the weight gain did to his speed. His work as a WR leads to believe he'll be golden on 3rd downs. Was a QB in college so the option is never out of the question. Despite the offensive line there's plenty of upside fantasy-wise. If he can get it going J-ville has a sweet schedule during ff playoffs.

I don't disagree. We will find out a lot this week as miami has a good rushing d. This will show whether jags oline is improving in the running game or not.

The other thing we'll see is how he holds up with three straight weks of significant action. I really like what I've seen of him, and I was NOT a believer.

I wasn't a big believer either, but he has looked great recently. Miami will be very telling. Most people must not think much of him as he wasn't picked up on the wire in the majority of my leagues. Most of my teams suck, so I had to take a shot on him. Hopefully he pays off. If not, nothing lost as I can't finish the season any worse than where I'm currently at. Sitting at 3-4 in most of my top leagues and a don't have anything at the RB position. It's either Robinson or hope like hell someone gets injured and their backup gets heavily involved.

Robinson does seem to have good vision, which is interesting.... I guess it's to be expected for a former QB.

4-3 but in much the same boat. Mason is really fast but when I look at the two, Robinson looks like the guy better built to handle the true RB load, 3 downs, etc. So I went that way.

Drop Rashad Jennings and pick him up?

Drop Rashad Jennings and pick him up?

Man, I don't know about that. How long is Jenning's out for? Williams has shown nothing in his stead, so it's Jennings job as soon as he can go.

Tough call. Might be tempted if I felt confident I could grab Jennings the week before he is healthy enough to play and everyone is on him.

Jennings is out maybe another 2 weeks. No way you make that move unless you are stacked everywhere else.

Surely you can drop someone besides the guy who was a top 10 back before he went out?

Watch when he ran against that Browns D who give up the most against RBs. The tackling was absolutely horrific. I could have had 100+ yards and I run a 4.8 40yard dash.

4.8 is really fast for an average person. In fact, 5 seconds is fast for an average person.

Google average person's forty time.

I have said for years that the coaches at michigan did him a dis-service by allowing him to keep up the charade that he was a qb. Had he been working on his wr/rb skills he would be way further along as a rb.

Most people can't even break 6 seconds. Especially the older you are.

Don't forget our 500 lb bench press, 700 lb deadlift and 1000 lb squats! And that's while working 90 ours a week at our million dollar jobs at our fortune 100 sized companies while finding time to fly around the world sexing up supermodels.

we also know football players. They give us fantasy football info which makes us go undefeated every year in our big money million dollar league.

Picked him up this week and need to start him because my RBs are a steaming pile of turds. So I'm cautiously optomistic.

I have had Martelles bennett as my active tight end for the last 4 weeks. In 3 of the 4 he has averaged 8.9 points a game. I traded him for denard due to his ability to break a big one and the fact that as a wr3 he could put up some sick numbers. I replaced bennets putrid production with clay and cook. Both avg at best but have the chance to do well some weeks.

Hoping they let him throw a pass or two. Jag fans need something to cheer about.

That is another aspect of the game no one talks about. He could be good for a pass or 2 a game that could get some good yardage based on his threat to run.

One day he's the starter going forward. The next day they're unsure.

A source tells ESPN Jags reporter Mike DiRocco that the coaches "still aren't sure if [Denard] Robinson is capable of handling a heavy workload each week."

Advice: Robinson ripped apart the Browns' atrocious run defense last week for 22-127-1 and has earned another start. Don't expect 20-carry games to become the norm. The 197-pound "Shoelace" typically won't have gameflow on his side and also Toby Gerhart (foot) is coming back this week to pair with third-down back Jordan Todman. Furthermore, the Jags bottom-five offensive line is going to have its hands more than full with a very strong Dolphins front this week.

He has bulked up to 212, I hear.

"I think he's up to 212 pounds and he came to us at 197," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley told the media at NFL owner's meetings. "He has taken a different approach. He's coming in to get ready and he understands he's a running back."

This means Robinson has added 15 or so pounds to his frame, likely in his upper body, which should go a long way in helping him settle in to the position, especially if he keeps his explosive speed.

if he can get 15 to 20 carries a game he would be well worth a wr3 spot.

He's my new WR3 from now on. Like I stated above, getting RB numbers out of a WR3 can give you an advantage over your opponents that we haven't seen since the likes of Joe Webb and Marques Colston.
