cbfalcon 824 Posted October 26, 2012 Alt J: This British band is starting to get a ton of hype. At first I was annoyed by the lead singer, but then it started sounded really fresh to me. I think this band is going to blow up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVeMiVU77wo Fossil Collective: I don't know a lot about this band. I don't even think they have an LP out yet, but I recently downloaded their EP. I love the sound and video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5nE1510oYo
mobb_deep 917 Posted October 26, 2012 That Fossil Collective tune is really good. Never heard of them. Good looking out. I've been listening to the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXdF9uhVrI0 And the new Pinback album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PSb-XNB4y8
cbfalcon 824 Posted October 26, 2012 That Fossil Collective tune is really good. Never heard of them. Good looking out. I've been listening to the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album. And the new Pinback album. The Pinback song was ok. But I refuse to watch a 20 minute video of a new band on the other one. Give me something shorter. I'm seeing The Delta Spirit next weekend. Supposed to be amazing live. You probably know this song being that you live in California. Just like I know every song with Texas in the title. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va0ezWC2du4

Give me something shorter. haha. fair enough. all of their songs are like 20 minutes though. they're the ambient/instrumental equivalent of the mars volta. cbfalcon 824 Posted December 4, 2012 This band is probably too cutting edge for the Skynard loving rednecks on this board. But this excites me nonetheless. Thom Yorke has confirmed details of Atoms For Peace's debut album 'Amok', which is set for release on February 25. Atoms For Peace are the Radiohead frontman's side project with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, super-producer Nigel Godrich and percussionist Mauro Refosco. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxWBd840E9g

mobb_deep 917 Posted December 4, 2012 I've been listening to the new El Ten Eleven album "Transitions" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaJxGtI4GvM For anyone not familiar with their music, check this out. They're a two man band. The guitarist/bassist plays a double bass/guitar and then passes it all through midi controllers to layer and sequence. They're pretty amazing live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBTUAHGpQqE
Savage Beast 1 Posted December 5, 2012 It's not a new band, but I keep listening to this Three Days Grace song over and over off of their brand new album.

hoytdwow 202 Posted December 5, 2012 I dig some of the L 10-11 stuff. He is mostly just using the loop station pedal and a delay to get those effects, not midi. anyhoo, if you like them, you'd prolly like Battles. They kind of pioneered the whole looper/dance rock thing. Plus, they feature the immortal John Stanier on drums
cbfalcon 824 Posted December 5, 2012 Yeah I just watched Mobb's videos, and El Ten Eleven is pretty amazing.
cbfalcon 824 Posted December 5, 2012 I have tickets to see The XX in February. Admittedly I haven't absorbed their new album yet, but this video from their last album is cool. At first, I was obsessed at watching each scene and picking out the change. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PElhV8z7I60
cbfalcon 824 Posted January 30, 2013 I'm really digging the new Strokes song. It is a changeup, and lacking a hook I suppose, but it gets better every time I hear it. Also, just read there will be a new MGMT album in June. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itY62ToB5SE

And I saw a few lists that I respect ranking their album as the best of 2012. They are playing the Granada Theater soon here in Dallas and I was THIS close to buying tickets. But with The xx, Alt J, and a big Muse show coming up in the next 8 weeks or so, I decided to draw a line and stop buying concert tickets....For now.

mobb_deep 917 Posted February 2, 2013 Maserati http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojOrZJ2CyVU Their 2007 album Inventions for the New Season has some great tracks on it. Good call. Love that album too. They did a split EP with another band I like a lot called The Mercury Program. A little more chilled out, but the same general style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKBKLr27TPg
mobb_deep 917 Posted February 2, 2013 Yo La Tengo has a new album out called Fade. One of the more underrated bands, of the last 20 years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BauiMlA0VVo
Chronic Husker 85 Posted February 2, 2013 I just got the email that they will be here in March and tickets go on sale Friday. I figuratively jumped out of my seat! Great show live. Interesting the singer didn't say one word to the audience between songs (or at all). He just bowed. Keyboard dude did all of it.

JT 137 Posted March 20, 2013 This band is probably too cutting edge for the Skynard loving rednecks on this board. But this excites me nonetheless. Far from a redneck, dislike virtually everything Skynrd, and have a pretty eclectic taste in music (or so I'm told). That said, Thom Yorke is the single most annoying "performer" on the planet imo. RLLD 3,455 Posted March 21, 2013 HIp Hop and Rap is essentially a dead medium for all intensive purposes, it lacks the heart that drove it to popularity, that being said there are those outside of the media controlled delivery systems that are putting out some top notch stuff... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq6fPAKcNLs

cbfalcon 824 Posted March 21, 2013 New album by the National coming out in May. Easily the most excited I'll be for an album this year. Their last 3 albums are just perfect. The band of my 30's I believe.
JT 137 Posted March 21, 2013 And you and I are no longer friends... Nah, I get it. I obviously find Thom Yorke beyond brilliant, but there is no doubt that he can be polarizing. Greenwood is an extremely talented musician and, according to an old friend who lived near and played with him, a really good guy. There have been bits and pieces of Radiohead that I've found interesting over the years. Wife (36C) is a big fan, so I've heard everything they've done. By and large, I consider them the LOST of bands. Largely lacking substance, perfectly content to baffle em with BS..
