New music I can't stop listening to

Recommended Posts

Alt J: This British band is starting to get a ton of hype. At first I was annoyed by the lead singer, but then it started sounded really fresh to me. I think this band is going to blow up.

Fossil Collective: I don't know a lot about this band. I don't even think they have an LP out yet, but I recently downloaded their EP. I love the sound and video.

That Fossil Collective tune is really good. Never heard of them. Good looking out.

I've been listening to the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album.

And the new Pinback album.

The Pinback song was ok. But I refuse to watch a 20 minute video of a new band on the other one. Give me something shorter.

I'm seeing The Delta Spirit next weekend. Supposed to be amazing live. You probably know this song being that you live in California. Just like I know every song with Texas in the title. :dunno:

haha. fair enough. all of their songs are like 20 minutes though. they're the ambient/instrumental equivalent of the mars volta.

This band is probably too cutting edge for the Skynard loving rednecks on this board. But this excites me nonetheless.

Thom Yorke has confirmed details of Atoms For Peace's debut album 'Amok', which is set for release on February 25.

Atoms For Peace are the Radiohead frontman's side project with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, super-producer Nigel Godrich and percussionist Mauro Refosco.

Going to see Alt J in a couple weeks.

I just got the email that they will be here in March and tickets go on sale Friday. I figuratively jumped out of my seat!

I've been listening to the new El Ten Eleven album "Transitions"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaJxGtI4GvM

For anyone not familiar with their music, check this out. They're a two man band. The guitarist/bassist plays a double bass/guitar and then passes it all through midi controllers to layer and sequence. They're pretty amazing live.

It's not a new band, but I keep listening to this Three Days Grace song over and over off of their brand new album.

I dig some of the L 10-11 stuff. He is mostly just using the loop station pedal and a delay to get those effects, not midi.

anyhoo, if you like them, you'd prolly like Battles. They kind of pioneered the whole looper/dance rock thing. Plus, they feature the immortal John Stanier on drums :headbanger:

I've heard a couple other songs off of Tame Impala's Lonerism and they're pretty good too.

I really like Tame Impala's sound. And I saw a few lists that I respect ranking their album as the best of 2012. They are playing the Granada Theater soon here in Dallas and I was THIS close to buying tickets. But with The xx, Alt J, and a big Muse show coming up in the next 8 weeks or so, I decided to draw a line and stop buying concert tickets....For now.

Their 2007 album Inventions for the New Season has some great tracks on it. :music_guitarred:

Good call. Love that album too.

They did a split EP with another band I like a lot called The Mercury Program. A little more chilled out, but the same general style.

Great show live. Interesting the singer didn't say one word to the audience between songs (or at all). He just bowed. Keyboard dude did all of it.

Yo La Tengo

a big fan.

saw them live back in like 1997 or so ... pretty greta. Ira was a machine of guitar noise.

Far from a redneck, dislike virtually everything Skynrd, and have a pretty eclectic taste in music (or so I'm told).

That said, Thom Yorke is the single most annoying "performer" on the planet imo.

And you and I are no longer friends...

Nah, I get it. I obviously find Thom Yorke beyond brilliant, but there is no doubt that he can be polarizing.

HIp Hop and Rap is essentially a dead medium for all intensive purposes, it lacks the heart that drove it to popularity, that being said there are those outside of the media controlled delivery systems that are putting out some top notch stuff...

New album by the National coming out in May. :music_guitarred:

Easily the most excited I'll be for an album this year. Their last 3 albums are just perfect. The band of my 30's I believe. :music_guitarred:

Greenwood is an extremely talented musician and, according to an old friend who lived near and played with him, a really good guy.

There have been bits and pieces of Radiohead that I've found interesting over the years. Wife (36C) is a big fan, so I've heard everything they've done. By and large, I consider them the LOST of bands. Largely lacking substance, perfectly content to baffle em with BS..
