RLLD 3,455 Posted November 18, 2018 https://www.al.com/news/2018/11/proposed-title-ix-changes-could-let-accused-students-interview-victims.html I have to admit that I am surprised at this move, making the system fair is going to meet with some pretty strong opposition, I wonder if she understands the fire she is playing with here The U.S. Secretary of Education announced proposed changes she said would fix a “failed” and “shameful” system that she believes has been disproportionately unfair to accused students. The rules would create a higher burden of proof for victims of sexual assault to prove a Title IX violation occurred, removing Obama-era regulations that required a "preponderance of the evidence." RLLD 3,455 Posted November 18, 2018 I don't think she gives a crap what people say. Agree. Just the feminazis alone are going to want to skewer this lady, she is talking about dismantling a system that intensely favors women.
kilroy69 994 Posted November 18, 2018 One of the good things about being worth more money than God is you no longer have to care what people think. Grow your nails long and piss in Mason jars? Oh that's just Howard being Howard. He's eccentric....but rich.

Fireballer 2,377 Posted November 18, 2018 How are Title IX violations substantiated? Is this some type of kangaroo court where "facts" are mulled over and some combo of student gubmint/professors decide? I would assume Evergreen will fully implode based on this possibility. RLLD 3,455 Posted November 21, 2018 And it did not take long for those opposed to due process and equal protection under the law to go after simple fairness... Some may mischaracterize our proposals as tilting the scales of justice, but we believe they simply balance them. Our proposed framework supports survivors while safeguarding due process, helping make Title IX protections against sex discrimination a reality for all students. Indeed, it is difficult to understand how people can object to procedures premised on the foundational concept of due process, or how anybody could have confidence in a system that lacks such protections. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/betsy-devos-its-time-we-balance-the-scales-of-justice-in-our-schools/2018/11/20/8dc59348-ecd6-11e8-9236-bb94154151d2_story.html?utm_term=.fb58d61cc8ac No, they are calling you out.....you cannot take away simple basic rights because you find them inconvenient to your political positions. When I served my country it was to protect people out there from things like this.

Hardcore troubadour 12,621 Posted November 21, 2018 Hats off to DeVoss for getting this right. Takes courage that the professional academics do not possess. Common sense isn't so common in some places.

I am not sure that she is the right or best person for this role overall, but yes, i do give her credit for standing up to wrong and focusing on what is right, even though it is clear that society has a strong opposition to fairness in general

RLLD 3,455 Posted November 23, 2018 After much anticipation, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has released new Title IX guidelines to reform sexual assault adjudications on college campuses. In the wake of 117 reversals in court, as well as legal scholars from across the political spectrum crying foul, Secretary DeVos has reinstated due process rights for the accused, which had been stripped away under President Obama. It is a win for the Constitution and the rule of law — and something that I applaud as a woman, former college student, and now mother of three sons. https://thehill.com/opinion/education/417762-with-title-ix-rewrite-devos-gets-it-right-for-accusers-and-accused Fantastic article, we need more women to stand up for their sons like this writer, restoring simple basic rights is a welcome outcome.
