What Is The Most Daring Thing You've Ever Done

Recommended Posts

That put your life in danger? Literally make one mistake, and your dead.

I jumped onto a ledge six feet in the Grand Canyon. Had I missed, I'd have fallen a long way.

Wifey was there. She hates me.

Similar story....

Young, stupid & impaired (wasted) I jumped out and down to a spire

I barely made the jump back up & over.

I got off the plane in Saudi Arabia. There was no part of that easy-ass war where I was ever in particular danger. The scariest thing about it was showing up (and all the false alarm gas attacks soon thereafter.)

At the time, I didn't know it would be so easy, essentially a four month camping trip. All I could think about was how focked up Vietnam was, the things they did, the psychological problems they came back with. And I remember looking around at everyone thinking how a bunch of the people getting off the plane with me were likely to die. Also this song, exponentially more relevant to me suppose since I was myself nineteen at the time.

Rappelled off a 500 foot waterfall. Was getting pounded with water much of the way down, so I bounced from side to side to temporarily get out of the flow. I felt like I would drown if I remained in the water.

I eventually made it to the pool at the bottom. My friend was supposed to follow, but we saw no hint of him descending for 30+ minutes. We thought he was in trouble, possibly hit by falling rock, but there was no easy way to ascend back up the rope. It was getting dark and we were contemplating continuing down the stream, which included several more rappels, to get help. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally rapped down.

Unbeknownst to me, the rope was rubbing against the edge of a rock at the top of the falls near the anchor point. The sheath of the rope had sheared such that the braided nylon kernmantle was exposed. My friend saw it as he started his rappel, realized the rope could fail, and ascended back up to redo the anchor.

I have no idea how close I was to the ropes breaking point, but regardless the rap wasnt for the faint of heart. Only a handful of people have ever rapped those falls, and it was the site of a massive landslide which killed 8 people.

Most of mine involve driving or riding at high rates of speed, pretty stupid looking back. Put my life and other drivers at risk.

I've had a pocket rocket up to around 135-140'ish, a '94 vette to around 165. Scary but, amazing.

I've been over 90 once, I think I topped out at 95 in a GT Mitsubisihi Eclipse :D

Never been that fast, but done more than my fair share of reckless driving. Once passed 6 cars around a sweeping blind curve at night. If oncoming traffic was coming, I’d probably be dead.

I've hit 110 before heading over to Hilton Head on I-16. That Tundra of mine (5.7 liter) will move.

I can't imagine the guys that do that sh!t on motorcycles. One bit of shrapnel in the road and they're meat on the highway.

I once did almost an entire presentation with an exposed Kernmantle.

Luckily one of the secretaries took pity on me during break time.

Never "got used to it". It was scary as fock most times. As in had body armor on, on the way up to the door the mantra in my head used to be, "don'tgetshotintheface, don'tgetshotintheface, don't get shot in the face!" BOOM rammer hits the door and I'm focking balls to the wall inside with the stack right on my ass....

Pursuits were always scary as fock from tbe passenger seat. Your buddy had a ford expedition wrapped at 110 and we're chasing some dude on back country windy roads.. fock all you can do but sit there holding the "oh sh!t" handle waiting for him or us to wreck. What a feeling of uncontrol.

Then of course is this gonna end in just a normal fistfight or does that focker have a gun?

Pucker factor... after a pursuit and my buddies saw our car fly off the road... one said, "Did your back pockets overlap when you almost hit that powerline pole?" Haha.. fock alls yes!

Had a Mercedes over 130 on the autobahn. Speedometer didn't have a MPH, but I was north of 200km/h so a little guessing on the MPH.
