Had not golfed in 3 weeks before I showed up at my league last night.

Recommended Posts

Showed up, 2nd group was teeing off and they wanted me to plat with them, 0 warm up and took the 1st tee.

1st hole par 4 - drive, shank low left, about 150 yards (maybe) - 2nd shot, 5 hybrid, shank low left, ended up with a 6 for 1/2 quota point

2nd hole par 4- perfect drive right down the middle, leaving me 125 to the hole. 2nd shot, not sure what club to use, took the PW and then last second switched to 9. Hit it over the green into a bunker. Blasted out across the green to the other bunker. ended up with a 7 - 0 quota points. Feeling pretty awful about my game.

3rd hole - par 3(closest to pin hole) 172 up hill about 30 feet. 6 iron - knocked it to 7 feet, sunk the putt for birdie (*ended up winning CTP and $36 bucks ($2 PP, 18 people)

4th hole, par 5 - Meh drive, huge draw on it into the rough, left me with 250 - 3 hybrid to about 40 feet in front of green, gap wedge chip to 12 feet, sunk the putt for birdie, never had 2 birdies in a row ever.

5th hole bogey

6th hole bogey

7th hole par

8th hole bogey

9th hole par 4 - nice drive down the middle to about 125 - PW to about 15 feet, sunk the putt for birdie

3 birdies in 9 holes. only had 2 once in my life over 9 holes.

19.5 quota points, my quota was 9.5, 10 over quota. won the night and closest to pin. Drinks on me boys :first:

I played Friday after not playing in a while.

I sucked.

Was making good contact off the tee...just not getting much of a draw and was leaving it just off to the right a little (enough to put me in a greenside trap on a driveable par 4 #2, and in the rough near a trap on #3 which is also driveable.

Just was not great with the irons at all and I couldn't putt for .

I played for the first time in a couple of months yesterday. I was able to get off the tee pretty well, but my irons were long and I was kind of crappy around the greens. The usual type of rust from not playing in a while, I guess. :dunno:

I played as a sub in my old league 2 fridays ago, started with five pars finished with bogey bogey par double.

I am also having my neck surgically repaired in the morning.

Good luck next week when your quota is 15.

Nah, it doesn't really work that way. it's an average, it may go up .5 pt, 1 max

Played last week twilight.. got 13 in. Should have been more but there were a bunch of slow foursomes in front. Haven't played much but have been hitting the range lately. Working on my putting. Had 2 or 3 birdies including a holed bunker shot. Bunch of terrible shots and scores. Didn't count anything since it was backed up I was playing 2 balls alot

I was expecting a Hole-in-One to be a part of this story. :dunno:

I am not GFIAFP :nono:

I have been in the league 5 years, was my 2nd time winning closest to pin. That is a hole in 1 for me

and also your mom wasn't playing that night.

Nice round edjr...

BTW, what are quota points?

It's like the stabbleford scoring system they use in golf.

Ours is a modification of that

8 for an eagle, 4 for a birdie, 2 for a par, 1 for a bogey 1/2 for a double and 0 for everything else.

Bogey golf is 9, I was a 9.5 going into last night.

Not an overly tough course, most par 4s are between 290 and 385, par 5 is like 450 par 3s are 175 and 195 though

Beautiful views though.. http://www.capeanngolf.com/gallery.html

No biggie.

It's really the only fair way to do a league with recreational golfers.

we have a couple dudes over 80. yes over 80. one guy, Roger is 83, quota is 6. i hope I can walk when I am 83, let alone golf.

I usually play my best golf when I haven't played in a while

I have in the past...that whole forgot my bad habits thing.

Now...if I have not played in a while my game evolves so much even in one round.

Will start off hitting a bit of a draw. By about hole 4 or 5...I will get way too comfortable with the draw and hit just a snap hook.

The draw will work again for about 4 more holes before I will set up for it and hit a pushed fade into some crap.

THen the wheels come off.

And that is just off the tee.

looks like a nice course but I hate when there are too many awkwardly short holes. I remember a muni course in PA I played with some college buddies and the first 3 holes were 290-310 one was slightly downhill. my approach shots were chips.

When I haven't played in a while I always hit my drives great! maybe 240 - 260 in the fairway. And I hit good second shots as well. It my sand game , and putting that keep me at 85-88 range on the score card instead of the 70's . If I play all the time I actually score better as my short game is great but my long game is always a fade to a slice. Funny how I am so much more happy with a 88 hittign the ball great of the tee and fairway then a 81-82 hitting shitty but cleaning it up on the short game.
