JacksonvilleCows 0 Posted January 4, 2015 The league is called the Alternate Future League. You will begin with a team mirroring an NFL team. You will have their roster to begin the off-season and from then on to manage as you please. I think I have most details and possible issues ironed out to allow for parity, even in the first few seasons.Some key points: 32 teams, one representing each NFL city. Rosters will be extremely deep with 32 teams with 30 players per roster and a 5 player practice squad. $50 entry fee. All paid back to playoff teams (minus league fees and some to cover transaction cost) Players will have Salaries, contract years, can be franchise tagged, Yearly rookie draft, free agent auction, franchise player bidding. To begin the league we will have a Franchise Auction. When you win your team, the amount you bid to win will be deducted from your salary cap for this season, we will call this your "luxury tax". Each season, the luxury tax will reduce by half (rounded down). This will level the playing field; here is where your strategy comes in: Owners that pay a lot to win a high demand team will have a lower salary cap to work with, thus they will have to release some quality players into the free agent pool to fit under the cap. Owners that pay less to win a low demand team will have preserved more of their salary cap and thus will be able to win some of these quality players in the Free Agent Auction. Also, they will have lower scoring players, which will have lower salaries in general allowing them more room under the cap initially anyways. Owners that pay less for teams that performed really poorly in the 2014-2015 season will have a higher draft pick to secure good QBs, RBs, WRs, etc in the rookie draft. With 32 teams, the value of high drafts picks is massive, because by the time you get to the middle and especially bottom of the first round, pickings will be extremely slim.
