For anyone starting the Titans D/ST on Sunday...

I'm starting Titans this week, but not with confidence. It only takes one time for someone to roll 300 lbs on that hammy and the Titans DEF goes to hell. How is it that just one player on a defense can account for 100 less yds/g? Is the rest of the defense that bad that they just get totally lost out on the field w/o him? Apparently so.

    Hahahahaha! Owned!

Bad mojo...I seriously doubt that you would report back to us if say...AD flatlines statwise and your enemy ends up winning the title. If youre not afraid of bad karma, then post your buddy's lineup, the scoring system, along with your enemy's lineup....then we can all keep track over the weekend and laugh our asses off if and when your scheme fails miserably. Cmon, don't be a wuss...post that info for us

That just means more short passing opportunities for Welker. A replay of last week's game vs Philly would be just fine with me, except Welker would get at least one TD. I'm not a big fan of the Patriots, I'm just taking advantage of everything they have to offer to us fantasy football players. Brady has pretty much been the stud on one team, and Welker has been a staple on a few other teams.

    Official FU's for Week 13

Dropping an F-bomb or two on Titans DEF being outscored 17-10 by Cardinas DEF. The refs at the Bengals game. Another big F-bomb goes out to unreviewable plays. When something gets replayed on TV, on the Jumbotron in front of 70,000 fans, and everyone knows that it was a bad call, it's obvious that everything needs to be reviewable. Yes, I understand that it would lengthen each game by 4 hours, but that's just more opportunity for the NFL, the networks, the stadium vendors to make more money. Game taking too long? Get yourself a DVR. Pause it. Clean your gutters. Shovel snow off your driveway. Come back to it later and speed thru the commercials and the other crap. It's not that hard.

The Official Brett Favre Appreciation thread

It's funny to watch people blame one person for an entire team losing. Those stats don't tell about all the missed routes, dropped catches, injuries, coaches making bad defensive calls. No QB in the NFL has ever been perfect, and there never will be. You can't classify a particular player as great on stats alone. I've watched a few Packer games in my time, and just to watch Favre have that much fun playing football with that kind of pressure is just amazing to me. I think the intangibles of Favre are what make him a great QB, not just whether he had a bad playoff record. Not a lot of quarterbacks can say they played in 20 playoff games, including 2 Superbowls.

The Official Brett Favre Appreciation thread

Most of the fans that don't know these players on a personal level only know what the media gives us. What the media has shown us about Moss is his past drug abuse, his lack of effort with the Raiders..then all of a sudden he's the darling of the league because he gets traded into a good situation and picks up where he left off in Minnesota. Brett on the other hand has been a class act all the way around. Sure, you could go on and say that Favre was selfish in coming back to play one more at 38, seemingly only in it for the records that he had not yet broken. But he has played at a high level his entire career, despite all the bumps and bruises and such that would sideline a lot of players for a few weeks. As far as comparing Brady to Favre...hands down Brett wins, due to the fact that he's a hell of a lot more fun to watch.

    Jason Whitlock

You have to admit that a large part of the 'whats the point?" and "the man keeping us down" attitudes comes from their realities. Most of the thug activity you see or hear about comes from inner cities, where young black men are heavily recruited by gangs, and those that resist are hassled by the very gangs they are trying to stay away from. They would like to finish school, and get a good education, but trouble often comes looking for them in the form of gang recruitment. Teachers are powerless for the most part to stop it, for fear of losing their own life for trying to stand up to the thugs. There's not enough police to respond to every incident, and most people in poorer neighborhoods don't trust the police anyways, so a lot of crime goes unreported. Even if every incident were reported, and 75% were solved, there's not enough jail space. Some kids are born into it, some grow up with it and its all they know, some feel compelled to join gangs just to keep themselves fed. Most business owners won't give half these kids a chance by giving them a job because they don't trust them. As far as education goes, it only takes one frustrated teacher to give up on a kid just one time and they hit the streets with their "whats the point" attitude. I don't have any figures in front of me, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there just aren't enough jobs for everyone to have a living wage job. Roughly 300 million people in the US. Probably about a third of the population is too old, young, or sick/disabled to work. That leaves 200 million in the work force. Does anyone really think there are 200 million jobs available in the US? Not just job openings...jobs period. I could go on for days on the reasons why so many young men, regardless of race, do what they do. Point is, there's plenty to go around, but a few control the plenty all in the name of power and greed. I am white, 35, born into lower middle class. As an adult I've worked crap jobs and had a few good ones. I've been on both sides of the poverty line. I don't live in or have I ever lived in a gang ridden neighborhood. Jason Whitlock wrote a good article that should wake up a few, but didn't exactly nail it on the head. There are too many socioeconomic factors to figure in from all races and all classes.

    Fantasy Strategy Question

Thats a pretty harsh penalty against a DEF for giving up a TD. Most scoring formats allow a range of pts in several tiers (e.g. 0-6 pts allowed =10 pts, 7-13 pts allowed =8 pts. etc.) and the same for yds allowed, with the tiers being fairly close in point value. I used to struggle with that same dilemma. The only way that it bothers me is when I have to make my football picks for the weeks games (e.g. had a hard time picking the Packers vs the Cowboys because I have Romo one one team). Doesn't mean he won't get great stats, and it doesn't even mean Favre will get better stats than Romo if the Pack wins. A good example of this is Kurt Warner vs San Fran last week. Warner blew up for 484 yds, 2 TD's, 2 picks, yet the Cards still lost. Not that I picked SF, but you get my point. RB vs. DEF in the same game should be the least impact, followed by WR then QB. Besides, there aren't that many teams out there who's DEF doesn't give up at least 1 TD. The thing that ticks me off is that when the QB of the team whose DEF I have (ex: Romo - DAL Defense) throws a Pick 6, those points go against Dallas DEF, but Dallas' defensive players were not on the field at the time. The offensive players were, and most of them suck at playing defense...offensive players in general that is, not just Dallas'.

    Fantasy Football Girls

Philip Rivers This one showed all the promise of being a decent fill in until a better model could be found. The rumors were she hailed from San Diego, with a little bit of country twang in her voice. Her step dad was thought to be some kind of genius with no stats to back it up, but you didn't care. You'd already spent half of prom night mingling with the other girls when you realized you had to see if this one had any tan lines. You got the nerve to ask her out, despite all your buddies warning against such a risky hit to your street cred. Turns out she has flashes of brilliance, but has a bad case of multiple personality disorder, which makes her unable to commit to one identity longer than 60 minutes at a time. You wanted to dump her a long time ago after she stood you up a few times, but a buddy in your league promised to take her off your hands before graduation. Graduation came and went, and your buddy bailed on you after realizing how bad her situation was. She's still able and willing to rock your world, but now it's a matter of figuring out which chick shows up for the movie.
  10. Yes, I know I'm crazy for expecting a qualified reply to this, but I would like to know if there's any users on here that live in the Bellingham, WA area. I would like to start a local FFL for next season. It would be a live, in person draft maintained by an online, commissioner and user controlled site like CBS. I used to live in the South Seattle area and cut my fantasy football teeth in an employee only league at a casino I used to work at. Yes, it was a large buy-in, since we were all dealers (larger buy-in than a current WCOFF satellite buy-in). I flatlined in my first season, but took 3rd in my 2nd season with the help of a co-owner. This league could be just for fun, or for a few bucks buy-in. Just depends on what the ownership wants (if I get any responses at all). Draft type and rules would also be ownership approved. The only requirement would be mandatory attendance at the live draft, which means you would have to live in the Bellingham/Whatcom County, WA area. Any replies to this post will hit my email inbox. Serious inquiries only please. Matt

Replacing a water heater -- any gurus here

Saw that episode...the only other cool part about it was when they tried with the 30 gal heater. It exploded outwards and completely..something they didn't expect at all to say the least. Advice to The Moz...any money you save trying to install that thing yourself could very well end up going to the ER doctors. Not to mention a roofing contractor. House contractor. Mortuary. You get the picture.

    Am i crazy

Brady's numbers weren't exactly their usual staggering self vs. Philly DEF last week, and Warner's O-line failed him in a critical spot vs a crappy SF team. I do not envy your situation, because it's a tough call. The Eagles handed the rest of the league the blueprint for how to beat the Pats - pressure the hell out of Brady. It remains to be seen whether the Ravens D-line can do that all game long. The Cards could be playing from behind vs the Browns, but I wouldn't expect another 484 yds passing fom Warner. Belichick will stroke Reed's ego before the game, thus distracting him. I say stay on the Brady Express. Just my opinion.

    ANYBODY HAVE DENVER RB UPDATE?

Travis Henry has been quoted as saying he "will definitely be ready to play". It remains to be seen whether Shanahan feels the same way. If you don't have any RB's involved in Thursdays game, then keep an eye on this situation. KFFL has daily practice and injury reports, and Jay Glazier will probably update his situation and starting status on Sunday morning (FOX NFL Sunday). Even if Travis plays, he'll probably split time with Young and Hall (minor high ankle sprain). NFL Network also has inactives updates Sunday mornings at 11:45am EST, but I saw one instance where they reported someone as OUT, only to find out later that they played. Best to check several sources if it's really critical for your fantasy team.

    NFL Network

Not every cable company is like that. I have to pay the extra $5 a month for NFLN. It's just your cable company. As far as your Padres, whatever channel it is that shows those games should be on satellite too, if you get the local channels. Just a thought...if you have cable internet, and decide to go satellite, you may not have to worry about the extra $5 a month for local channels through satellite because the cable companies have not yet figured out how to separate cable TV from cable internet (or vice versa), meaning they can't shut off the very basic channels you get if you at least subscribe to cable internet. Then you can apply that $5 in savings to the sports tier on satellite that contains the NFLN.
