++ UPDATE: Martin/ Rainey - Doug Martin INACTIVE

Recommended Posts

Becoming a RBBC. Who's rolling the dice on Martin tomorrow night as he's the projected starter? What a bust since he's been in the NFL

you're the typical fantasy no nothing.

2012 he only had 1500 yards and 12 TD

What a stiff.

I am going to bench him until the situation clears up a bit. Starting Reggie Bush this week instead. Unfortunately it looks like both of these guys are mired in RBBCs but Bush seems to score more points.

If you had the choice, Martin or Brown (SD)?

Take the guy NOT playing in the Thursday game.

I never have any luck when my guys play in the early game.

How can you play someone ,when you don't even know how, they will be used . To much of a problem

he's taking 1st team reps all week. it's a gamble but he could bust out of the gates finally. i'll probably play it safe with rainey though.

Have you seen that Atlanta run D? Man, it's too sweet to pass up.

You're right it's a gamble. But I don't buy that Martin will start and even if he did, I bet he will get injured again or pulled. He is not a very good back.

If I had both Martin and Rainey, I would start Rainey. Martin may not last and probably won't play much.

Any chance Rainey has unofficially taken over as the lead back in Tampa? Coaches can't ignore what he did last week and what Dougie Martin hasn't done lately much longer, can they? I just don't see anything special in Martin but I do see it in Rainey. This is already the second time he's come in to start after an injury and looked amazing in his career.

ed is spot on.

he was a fantasy darling his rookie season. the only people calling him a complete bust now are the ones who got burned by last years slow start and subsequent injury. a complete fantasy bust would be more along the lines of mark ingram, imo. a guy who did relatviely nothing, finally looked fantasy relevant this year and gets hurt 2 games in.

I've got both, Thursday night games I feel never produce big fantasy numbers. Atleast the players in the past on my teams, but who'll stop the Rainey?

I've got both and think that Rainey is the better back at this point.

Lovie's a pretty loyal guy (and rather stubborn), and isn't likely to demote Martin just yet. Martin has two really tasty matchups (Atlanta and Pittsburgh) with bad run defenses, so he'd better show something immediately. I'd expect Martin to get around 17-19 carries and Rainey between 7-10.

I thought that 2 years ago and left Martin on my bench vs Minn. And then he went off for 219 and 2 tds. So there's that.

It figures that I finally get a great RB matchup, and now TB has a possible RBBC and roles are muddied. I have both Martin and Rainey as well. Part of me really wants to start one/both against the hapless Falcons, and part of me wants to avoid it altogether for not knowing who will get the bulk of the work.

I feel like if I start Lacy, who has another horrible matchup, and he doesn't produce AGAIN, I'm going to kill someone. Also have Ivory facing the weak Bears and Morris against Phi. Too many choices. I'm sure I'll make the wrong one. Any opinions? Gotta pick 2:

Martin

Rainey

Lacy

Morris

Ivory

There are exceptions...

10-25-2012 @MIN

Doug Martin

My Choices in Half point PPR: start 2

Forte - vs Jets Yuck

J. Bell - vs Packers Yum

Martin - ATL Yum

Rainey - ATL Yum

I really hate passing up the matchup tonight. I might be forced to start Forte and J Bell to be safe.

it's gonna be a shootout this thursday, start everyone with confidence!

Falcons have been horrible in stopping anyone so far, and Tampa is not gonna stop Atlanta at home in primetime...

Just saw this on rotoworld:

The Tampa Bay Times says Bobby Rainey will start Thursday's game against the Falcons.

"Not just because of Doug Martin's knee. Coaches really like [Rainey]," said beat writer Rick Stroud. To be clear, this looks like educated speculation, not sourced reporting. Coach Lovie Smith has declined to name a starter, only saying he wants to use a committee. But it's not that far-fetched to think that the Bucs want to ride Rainey's hot hand after he put up 174 total yards on 25 touches in Week 2. It's a messy situation, but at this point we'd give Rainey the edge as the better flex play in this cake matchup. Martin is averaging a pathetic 3.41 YPC over the last two seasons (seven games).

I think as long as Rainey continues to produce....and continues to out produce Martin, he'll garner the majority of touches. Either way, they both cap the other's production.

yep.

and if the Bucs win games... if they're winning with Rainey in there, that's what will really seal the deal even if Rainey doesn't put up gaudy stats.

What happened to Doug Martin? I don't watch/follow TB much but he went from electricity taking the position by storm to non-existent... even last year before any injury announcements, he was't great. Is it that simple: injuries rooned the guy?

If he was a baseball player, I'd say he stopped juicing.

:dunno:

Rainey is going to be one of the KEY pickups for the year.

I continue to believe this...from some big games last year to his 177 yard explosion last week to getting the nod tonight.

It's here.

But going with Ridley instead.

Here's where I punch myself for dropping him in one league, and hope that big slow Asiata keeps the faith. And here's where I pat myself on the back for drafting him in a 16-teamer!

You might be right. I liked him quite a bit when I had him on my fantasy roster last season towards the end of the year. The kid has some wheels. The only roadblock this year has been Doug Martin. But if Rainey can pull off consecutive 100+ yard rushing games, I can't imagine that Martin gets his job back, at least not for anything more than the lesser half of a RBBC.
