Am I overthinking this?

Recommended Posts

So here is the league setup

Roster Positions: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF

Points

Passing

Yards: 25 yards per point

Touchdowns (6)

Interceptions (-2)

Rushing

Yards: 10 yards per point

Touchdowns (6)

Recieving

Yards: 10 yards per point

Touchdowns (6)

2-Point Conversions (2)

Fumbles Lost (-2)

My Keepers: Lamont Jordan, Caddilac Williams, Chad Johnson.

So the league has changed from 2RB 2WR to 2RB 2WR Flex. Obviously the guaranteed touches a RB gets will make using a 3rb very important. I have the 2nd pick in the draft and the first player to go will be Bush. Looking at Rosters I know that Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison and Chester Taylor will be there for me to pick up. Getting Moss or Harrison in what is essentially the fourth round is a steal and under last years rules it would be a no brainer. However I think Taylor is going to have a good year and will be a solid #2 running back. Do I take one of the recievers or take Chester and have a very, very solid running back squad? If I take Harrison or Moss I will be left with horrible options for a 3RB, its a heavy RB keeper league.

Any help would be really appreciated

I would just take the best player remaining ... Harrison. Moss has turned into an injury prone WR and Chester still has to prove he can be a featured back.

I am in a similar position. I am planning to keep Tiki, Lamont, and Chad Johnson while having the #2 pick overall ina 12 team league. That #2 pick is big because by the time you pick again, many good players are gone. I would tend to pick Marvin in this case.

However, you may be able to deal Chad for a decent RB, especially if Carson will play at the beginning of the season. Or can you propose a trade for Chad and your #2 pick for a RB and a pick in the later spots in a round (#10-12 considering its a 12-team league)? This would give 3 decent RB and the potential to pick up decent WRs in the later draft spots. I would think if you traded into the #11 spot, you can pick a Driver, DJax, R. Williams and possibly Gates (who plays like receiver).

1.Moss

2.Harrison

3.Taylor

Randy will be heathly this year. Wayne will be taking away from Harrison.

Harrison, Harrison, Harrrison. There's no guarantee that Moss will play 16 games since he hasn't done it in years. Harrison will produce at #1 level and will most likely be there all year. I don't understand why he doesn't get much love anymore. I know he's getting older, but he is still in his prime and is as consistent as daylight. Moss has had a very erratic career and can be very frustrating.

risk vs. upside.

Harrison may have the least risk but also the least upside of the three. He's consistent but aging.

Moss comes with considerable risk (health, team, attitude) but has tremendous upside; more likely to hit the 15TD mark than any of the 3.

C. Taylor is a big unknown; he may be Clinton Portis, he may be Kevin Jones. He's appealing for one reason only: he's a starting RB.

I'd take Randy Moss.

The foundation of your team is Caddy, Jordan, Chad Johnson... and with that you can afford to take the risk with Moss; even if Moss has another sub-par year he won't kill you. If however, he flirts with that 15TD mark, you are looking VERY good to contend for your league title.

Take Moss and look to land some RBs in the later rounds, maybe some of the rookies (Maroney, DeAngelo) or maybe take both of the SF runners (Barlow/Gore)... Norv Turner is the O. Coordinator in SF and he's gonna' run the ball, we just don't know who he's gonna' run it with yet.***

*** I'm not saying Barlow/Gore are gonna' put up huge fantasy numbers, just that one may get consistent work and provide you with a legit #3/Flex RB capable of a few 100yard, 1td games.

Thanks guys, I'm thinking I'll go with Harrison. Chad = consistent Harrison = consistent. I know I'll be getting very solid points from my WR every week. I just hope I don't regret not taking a starting RB with a much improved line and a "new" pro-bowl caliber FB.
