Tilt basically means the conversation has taken a turn and the other side has gained momentum in a debate/arguement.

Snowflake is what the ugly red headed step child of a generation likes to call Millennials. It is actually quite funny and amusing. They point their finger at us like we don't have a clue. Going to be pretty entertaining to watch this generation (Gen X) struggle in the coming decades as they quickly lose touch with reality.

A lot of millenials (of which I am) are extremely delicate due to coddling and can't always handle when things don't go their way. They lash out. They feel their uniqueness is first and foremost and when you read articles about petitions they start to be able to wear whatever they want to work or that universities have special places for them to go to cope with the election outcome it doesn't do much to combat the special snowflake moniker.

As for tilt, I always thought it was a poker reference that people use when a person on one side of an argument has gone full retard. That person is "on tilt" like a poker player who took a bad beat.

Tilt means going off kilter, being extremely frustrated or confused and pursuing a bad strategy. It's used in poker, but probably originates with the "tilt" message on pinball machines that were bumped or tilted in an attempt to cheat.

Snowflake is used to describe the current generation, implying they are delicate and easily offended as a result of parenting which fostered their uniqueness. I've never heard anyone outside this bored use the term, though I guess most here are Gen Xers.

Tilt! is basically the written equivalent of a white flag.

Overtly or otherwise, it is used when a particular poster

has no intelligent, informed or even reasonable basis in fact

with which to support his or her spurious opinion.

- Usually as a result of turning off Sean Hannity too soon

In order to post his inane baseless rambling onto the GC bored

and claim such moronic sophistry as one's own.

...Though, is it even possible to turn of Sean Hannity 'too soon'?

As the Geek Club's Resident Contextual Historian,

The fairly nascent use of the expression "Tilt!"

(arriving in the bored lexicon somewhat before, but

usually uttered by the same individuals who employ

the nonsencial term 'cuckold' )

Can have its etymology traced back to the use of the

word "Pwned!" in the late 20th and early 21st Century.

Again, both "Pwned" and "Tilt" share a common usage

by the lesser educated, North Amurican Big Breasted

Chicken Hawk. This particular Ornithological denizen,

whilst possessing sufficient nasal capacity, generally

prefers to oxygenate oneself via oral means.

Otherwise known colloguially as "mouth breathing".

Alternatively, others choose to mask their nomenclature

by adopting an entirely different, unattributed Nom de Guerre

and, to avoid detection, rather than using the telltale "Tilt" or

"Pwnt", simply employ their alternate identies in the use of

the modern day hieroglyph (aka "Emoji") : :first: , or the lesser

used: :overhead:

Regardless of nomenclature nor hieroglyph, all are considered to

be used by the somewhat lesser educated, lower socio-economic class

and therefore, should be avoided entirely or minimally included in

day to day lexicon - except in its most ironic usage.

This. The Millennials all think they are as unique as a snowflake. That the world has to change for them not the other way around. They will very soon come to understand that is not how this works.

I was told, by a bored doucher, that a snowflake was someone who complained all the time. If thats what a snowflake is, then that's dumb. I like the unique, one of a kind idea WAY better.

Snowflake, aka special snowflake. Snowflakes are always described as being unique, no two alike. Hence the term means someone who thinks they are special and unique, like a snowflake.

Snowflake was used in the movie "Glory"...

Snowflake was first used in Fight Club. The scene where the new recruits are standing on the front porch and they are degrading them. They called them "snowflakes".

Glory came out in 1989, Fight Club in 1999... How can Fight Club be first?

Never saw Fight Club, but yes...

No and no. The reference implied by the writer deems its meaning. Since you have no frame of reference to either, you would be wrong. I'm breaking the first rule. Educate yourself and do me a favor. Don't respond.

Whatever makes you happy, but it was mentioned in Glory first... Denzel's character called Andre Braugher's character snowflake because he "liked it when n*****s talk good as white folks!"...

That definition does not apply to today's snowflake. Our current snowflakes can come from any race, creed, and sexual persuasion.

Snowflakes DO tend to complain a lot. However it is because they are SOOOOO special that they can not be treated like normal people. They are UNIQUE and you WILL treat them that way or they WILL throw a fit like a 3 year old.
